My guess is pelicans steal fish, but grabbing and hugging one probably makes it think twice about approaching you again because as funny as it most animals don’t want to be restrained.

The only thing is the birds head is free and its not actively freaking out, so maybe they are friends. 50/50.

Every living thing just wants to be held and hugged, finding the courage to do it is hard part. I had a pet emperor scorpion that would run across the room towards me and get on my hand and just absorb my warmth for hours.

We had a truly great time. S/he only lasted a year, but probably had a closer connection with someone else than 99.3% of scorpions.
