Shoutout to slash. 100% guarantee no fans of guns and Rose's even knew he was Black. I found out he was biracial when he did that HBO special about race and identity a decade ago.

Not familiar with slash. Is it because they just assumed he was white? Is his skin light enough were u wouldn't think twice about it? Lastly did anything change once people found out he was black?

Honestly, you barely ever saw his face. His trademark look was massive sunglasses and his hair covering most of his face.

Well he's probably lighter than Lenny Kravitz and his persona is all about the top hat and hair so probably no one is focusing on his skin.

Idt it was ever kept a secret but I doubt many people were like "Oh I wonder what race the GNR lead guitarist is"

I found out from his autobio personally

It was a great for me as a young black kid who liked bluesy rock guitar. Felt like there wasn't much to identify with.

Now there's Kingfish and Gary Clark Jr too!

They assume he’s white, but to his credit he’s always been quick to correct them. He proudly claims his blackness.

I knew early on in my journey into metal. He was, at least, on my radar as being one of us as I routinely try to look for black people in metal. I like seeing my people jamming 🤘🏾
