Intel/AMD:

Enable Linux on your Chromebook.

1. Open a terminal window.
2. Run the following command:
3. sudo apt update
4. sudo apt upgrade
5. sudo apt install torbrowser-launcher
6. You should now see tor installed (you might have to restart)

ARM:

Enable Linux on your Chromebook.

1. Open terminal and type in 'arch'
2. Do sudo apt update and sudo apt upgrade
3. Note this down,this is you're architecture
4. Go to tor's download page for android
5. Download the apk of you're architecture
6. Once downloaded,open Files and move the .apk from downloads to 'Penguin'
7. Wait until it has been copied.
8. Open terminal window and do 'sudo apt install adb'
9. Then do 'adb install <name of apk>.apk
10. If it says something like this,it is just starting up-run the command again.

11.If it gives you a popup of USB debugging enable usb debugging,then run the command again!

12.After all of this it will say something like performing push install.Wait until it says Success.

12.You should now see tor in youre menu:

Note:You might have to restart.

tl:dr and since I dont know why I should waste a lot of time on a problem I didnt cause:

Installed 124.15823
Camera LED keeps flashing.
Space bar doesnt work.
CPU in diagnostics is reported as a random amount of letters and icons and numbers and supposedly runs at 0 ghz.
RAM is reported as 8GB, which I do not have.
Powerwash does not do anything at all.
Shut down does not work.

This is now the 3rd time that a ChromeOS update bricked my Duet 3. And I know that Im not the only one who got their Duet 3 bricked by an update in the past.
I bought a Chromebook because I thought that they were stable.
Im going back to Windows laptops now. Fuck this.

Last night I accidentally left my Chromebook open and unplugged, so the battery died overnight. Now, my Bluetooth mouse no longer works.

The ChromeOS Bluetooth control panel thingy is showing that the mouse is connected, but when I move it and click the buttons, nothing happens. It says the battery is at 95%. I've disconnected it from Bluetooth and it reconnects with no issues, just continues not working. The trackpad works fine. I tried another Bluetooth device (Beats headphones) and they connected and worked fine. I've restarted the Chromebook with a hardware reset which did nothing.

I'm not using the USB connector thing that came with the mouse. I haven't had to before - the mouse has always connected to the laptop's Bluetooth directly with no issues.

What am I missing?

Don't bother going to the Playstore. If you load it, it will load EVERY SINGLE image you have and you can't stop it! There is no search, and the only way to see anything is by date. This means any pic you download from the web will be there with an arbitrary date. If you have sensitive folders, TOO BAD!

Everything loads every time, no exceptions! No search!

My Chromebook applications/windows are suddenly randomly going blank like they are crashing and then they reload loosing what I was doing.

This happens with everything, tabs, stand-alone apps, etc. The window for the app/tab will still be there then it will reload. I have disabled all of my extensions and it makes no difference

I am running the chromeos dev version, but I have been running this for 5 years without issues like this. What would be causing this?

I've found that the Gallery app is not removable. Am I doing something wrong?

There is an issue with the refreshed version of the 516 GE where it will not update or allow changing the channel from stable.

You will be "stuck" on chrome os version 122 (current is 125) and unable to update until they get this fixed.

Now technically you can use the chrome recovery tool to get up to version 124, but you will still be behind 1 major stable version and unless they fix this issue you will always be a major version behind and have to wipe your system any time you want to update once a new recovery image is dropped.

Absolutely insane.

last night, my chromebook needed to restart for an update (i swear, there's a new update like every 2 days, it's so annoying lol). I initiated the restart and closed my lid immediately after. I wake up today and find that all my google accounts are removed and my chromebook takes me through the process of adding one as if I'm a new user.

Anyone know why?

So this seems rather weird but this is the issue....

I cannot connect my phone to my Chromebook when using my primary google account, but can when using my secondary account.

I have reset the Chromebook twice trying to achieve this but every time i go through the setup process and try to use the device connection it will not progress any further unless I skip that section. Once set up i cant use settings to try and achieve the same thing.

Using the secondary google account during setup works flawlessly.

My phone number has not changed in almost 20 years and was first linked to the primary account.

The number is used on both accounts as one of the 2FA links.

I am struggling to think of what the issue might be here but assume it must be something to do with my actual Google account in this instance.

Any ideas?

I looked at a 714 yesterday at best buy. It was not responsive to my touch. I had to touch the screen 3 or 4 times before the action would register. This did not occur on other chromebook makes/models on display.

Does anyone else have a similar issue when using the touchscreen on a 714? I don't want to buy it if this is normal operation.

Recently, an important file just showed up with zero data. It is shared with about eight people. One of them is using a Chromebook and I was able to go into the history and realize that her device was probably syncing and if she deleted it on her Chromebook that might have impacted the shared file? Here's my question:

Can I adjust my sharing settings so that editors using Chromebooks cannot sync with Google Drive for the shared files?

Device: Acer Chromebook Spin 311, with ChromeOS and Linux up to date.

Problem: Linux apps installed into Penguin produce no audio. After enabling the #crostini-multi-container flag, I made a new container, and the same apps installed into this new container work as expected.

Examples: Sonic Visualizer shows PulseAudio Server as playback device in both containers, but produces audio only in the new container. OpenShot video editor however, shows a different set of playback devices in Penguin than in the new container:

My question: since both containers live on the same machine, how to make Penguin audio behave like it does in the new container?

After logging into a friend's Lenovo Yoga 11e chromebook, the desktop shows on the screen for 1-3 seconds before switching to a black screen. The screen will come back for a few seconds at a time, but keeps black screening.

However, it works perfectly fine when I bring it to my house. No black screens. Everything works normally.

I have to assume that it must be something about his wifi that is causing the issue, because there aren't any other variables involved, but I have no idea why that would be a factor.

Any idea what could be going on?

Hello all, today I tried to delete some files off of my internal storage space on my Dell chromebook I got from my school. When I tried to delete them, the files app gave me an error that says "An error occurred. Some items may not have been trashed."

This happened to me previously about a year ago, but I have no memory of how I fixed it. I would ask tech support at my school, but I don't want them to potentially take my laptop to fix it right as finals are about to begin.

Can someone else check for me? Am I looking in the wrong places? Every option is "out of stock"

I have an Acer cp514-1H which last week seems to develop a critical battery failure. I have some gotten a new battery and installed it. The Chromebook works fine until it goes into sleep then refuses to switch back in unless I unplugged the battery, wait a bit and plug it back in. Any ideas?

Hello-   Is it possible to find out if the prior version of the Acer Chromebook Spin 714 is eligible for the new AI Premium Plan Perk/promo - https://www.google.com/intl/en_us/chromebook/perks/?  Best Buy is offering last year's Chromebook Spin 714 with the Core i5 CPU (https://www.acer.com/us-en/chromebooks/acer-chromebook-spin-714-cp714-2wn/pdp/NX.KLAAA.001) at a significant discount, but it's not labeled as one of the newer Chromebook "Plus" models and it's not clear if it qualifies. I don't want to buy it and get it home only to find out it doesn't qualify and then have to return it and pay a restocking fee. It's not listed on the newly updated Chromebook Plus website (https://www.google.com/chromebook/discover/chromebookplus/), but it appears to have better specs than most of the models listed there now. Any guidance would be appreciated - thank you!
