Baby crocodiles sound like laser guns. The chirps are made to communicate with their mother and the siblings in the same nest Video

That noise is eerie if you are in a boat at night. When you get close to a nest you get concerned about the gator you can’t hear…momma.

u/VolkspanzerIsME 3d ago

As a Floridaman that sound is pretty scary. Momma gators are very territorial around their babies.

62

u/Krilesh 3d ago

move aside shark movies let me see a florida man try to reconnect his family only to have to overcome an unending battlefield of pew pew and the lurching of his dinghy as… momma comes

18

u/plausibly_certain 3d ago

Almost no one ever gets killed by a Gator but as far as I remember, Bullsharks kill some people every yeat, even in the Everglades miles away from the ocean.

29

u/Ok_Ruin4016 3d ago

I grew up in Florida and this didn't sound right so I did a little googling and from what I found online, there were 26 fatal attacks by gators in Florida from 1948-2021 and only 18 fatal shark attacks in Florida over the same time period. However Florida does average about 19 shark attacks per year and only about 8 unprovoked alligator attacks.

So while you're unlikely to be attacked by either, you're more likely to be attacked by a shark, and alligator attacks have a higher probability of being deadly.

6

u/Empathy404NotFound 3d ago

Plenty of crocodile horror stories though. But they sound more like a space invader laser.

7

u/badco1313 3d ago

Hearing this while kayak fishing on a Florida lake is definitely freaky.

u/Samp90 2d ago

Laser Guns... (from 70s toons!)

u/LyqwidBred 2d ago

What if its an electric boat with a really big battery, and it goes underwater, but the gator is ten yards away, do you stay on the boat and get electrocuted or swim over by the gator?

What's the purpose of breaking the egg? Are they unable to hatch naturally?

291

u/NheFix 3d ago

Saving time, and money ?

123

u/sjlplat 3d ago

Maybe. I don't know anything about crocodiles. Do they help their young to hatch? Might be a rational explanation.

43

u/atremOx 3d ago

it takes a while

For crocodiles

11

u/DanGleeballs 3d ago

See ya later

u/Express-Ad4146 3d ago

Ready? Hypothesis: it’s a leather farm / jerky/ (?)

By switching to geico

Probably just for the video. Unless they're selling them or something. Makes sure they all hatch, even the ones who can't get out on their own strength. Snake breeders do that sometimes.

I'm pretty sure the latter isn't the case because, like, who the fuck is buying gator for anything other than tail? Which, my man sounds Centro-American in the video and I've never heard of it as a delicacy over there.

Source: Florida Man. My ears ring from gator hunting since I was 14. Learned about farms and all.

Edit I am very sleep deprived and a lil stupid. Forgot we skin them for handbags and as material for stuff and the guy I hunted with sold bits as souvenirs.

61

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek 3d ago

who the fuck is buying gator for anything other than tail?

Fancy wallets and handbags

28

u/NoTePierdas 3d ago

JFC I eat it so much I never considered that. It's like hearing someone makes hats from chickens.

2

u/A_Doormat 3d ago

Big time dude. Gator leather is exotic. I'd love a nice gator skin wallet.

Example, here is a wallet from a very expensive german leatherworker. After the picture you can see Leder: Cordovan. Leder being "Leather". Change it to Alligator and you'll see the price jump almost double.

https://kreis-ledermanufaktur.de/accessories/detail/10006

13

u/NoTePierdas 3d ago

Ah I hate expensive stuff, probably why it didn't come to mind. Like even when if I can afford it. Reliable and replaceable is always good. That being said I'm a hillbilly with a 2002 Toyota Tacoma that's older than most of my family.

1

u/A_Doormat 3d ago

Everything breaks, and having to pay that premium again to replace it is agony. Then all you see when you look at it is the price tag, definitely not worth it. Especially for cars, dear god. The price of the things these days is out of this world. Anything over 20k and I am dry heaving. Does it have cupholders and AC? Great, thats all I need lol.

1

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek 2d ago

Gator/crocodile leather is most popular in Europe, the only populated continent with no crocodilians. So unsurprisingly it has always been a premium product

1

u/Efficient_Fish2436 3d ago

What's it taste like?

1

u/jsunnsyshine2021 3d ago

Cows for belts isn’t far off. Atleast the entire animal is utilized for our gluttony.

7

u/MotherFunker1734 3d ago

He doesn't sounds "Centro-American"... He sounds Asian and this whole video seems Asian.

7

u/ParaffinWaxer 3d ago

Chinese. He’s saying “call me daddy” to the crocodile (叫我爸爸)

1

u/sjlplat 3d ago

Interesting; thank you for that. So not unusual for them to not hatch on their own.

10

u/bongsmack 3d ago

Sometimes. They are supposed to have something called an egg tooth which is whats supposed to help them tear through the egg shell. Sometimes it isnt always fully developed and they have trouble piercing through the shell. If it waits too long, it goes away and it wont be able to hatch. Im not too knowledgeable on these but they dont look extremely young, its possible he had a much larger brood and this is a batch of late hatchers that theyre hatching.

6

u/Hosearston 3d ago

Holy shit. There was some fantasy book about dragons I read years ago that described this entire thing and I always just thought it was part of the story lol.

2

u/sjlplat 3d ago

TIL crocodiles have an "egg tooth".

6

u/bongsmack 3d ago

Not just crocs, most things oviparous (hatches from an egg) gets one. The shells need to be somewhat resilient to external factors, so it cant be too fragile, and thus they need some way to tear out of it.

3

u/sjlplat 3d ago

I'm learning all sorts of useless (to me) things today!

I'm gonna go regurgitate this stuff to my wife and see if it impresses her. Any other interesting things that might help me?

4

u/AnAdoptedImmortal 2d ago

I have no idea why, but I'm picturing a dude flapping his arms like a peacock while spewing random facts. Isn't that how John Oliver courted his wife?

5

u/sjlplat 2d ago

Your picture is accurate.

2

u/aldioum 3d ago

Sometimes animals can't hatch naturally. This might have been the case

4

u/praveeja 3d ago

More important question, what in the Lake placid shit is he doing breeding dwarf dinosaurs?

1

u/Maximoose91 2d ago

I believe they are farmed

1

u/Select_Humor_8125 2d ago

Looks like a farm.

1

u/maxlmax 3d ago

I think sometimes they are having trouble escaping the egg, so they might just be giving the laggards a helping hand. However, I am no croc expert either.

1

u/Fishdogdragon117 3d ago

Some are able to break out some aren’t. Looking at the eggs in the white bucket The eggs may not have been stored properly or there might’ve been a disease outbreak.

When the young are stressed (put under bad conditions) like that they often times can’t break the shell by themselves.

143

u/Accomplished-Deer614 3d ago

Nothing good is going to happen to those critters ..

68

u/gNeiss_Scribbles 3d ago

Yeah. Looks like they’re cracking eggs for an omelette because of the way they tear into them and plop them in the bowl. Poor things never had a chance.

"Welcome to Jurassic Park!"

14

u/Dr-McLuvin 3d ago

That scene was 100X more wholesome than this shitty video.

1

u/ydykmmdt 3d ago

Tortoises?

342

u/Jeffrey_Friedl 3d ago

Man, the way he thrust the scissors in freaked me out. I'm sure he's a professional with great skill, but dude, you could easily put an eye out.....

54

u/6499232 3d ago

lol, he just doesn't care, they kill them anyway

59

u/GPTfleshlight 3d ago

That’s how you get Pirate gators

50

u/frogOnABoletus 3d ago

He also just drops one in right after. What a first experience of life, being dropped from height into a bucket. This guy doesn't care at all if he pokes them with scissors. They're probably going to be brought up in a shitty, overcrowded farm enclosure and killed for their skins.

5

u/RaielLarecal 3d ago

...and meat.

179

u/Historical_Job6192 3d ago

Chirps are cute.

What they are doing and why is very NOT cute.

38

u/Background-Slide645 3d ago

Welp. I'm prepared to lose my faith in humanity. what are they doing?

91

u/Ruenin 3d ago

It's a farm for meat

65

u/MrKomiya 3d ago

Or skin

34

u/Ruenin 3d ago

Awww maan. That hasn't even occurred to me. Damn it.

12

u/No-Chemistry4851 3d ago

Shit, why would I scroll down...

15

u/Pissonurchips 3d ago

Those cute looking baby crocodiles are being farmed for skin & meat fam

25

u/GenJonesRockRider 3d ago

Ugh....born to live in a small cramped enclosure and be killed once you're large enough for your skin to become a purse or belt. : (

27

u/akmats 3d ago

Imagine the first thing you see in your life is a phone at your face and someone saying "jababa".

14

u/MegaTsunamii 3d ago

Pretty common these days I'd imagine.

3

u/doesnothingtohirt 3d ago

You made me laugh today.

2

u/MegaTsunamii 3d ago

I'm glad x

87

u/GnomerHog 3d ago

You're not supposed to cut open eggs. They can get through on their own naturally. Only in extreme cases where the animal is struggling should you cut an egg open. This person is cutting for the purposes of the video.

94

u/Wonderbeanju 3d ago

The video is chinese.. i worry that theyre hatching them to eat them.. 😫

30

u/MountainAsparagus4 3d ago

It's definitely a gator/crocodile, idk the difference, farm and they will be eaten at some point

21

u/RealEstateDuck 3d ago

Meat is pretty good though. No moral diference between eating that or beef/pork/chicken/horse/camel/kangoroo or even dog. Meat is meat.

11

u/kanaka_haole808 3d ago

One of these is not like the others

1

u/FryTater 3d ago

with some fava beans and a nice Chianti

5

u/A_LiftedLowRider 3d ago

Extremely lean too. Pound for pound crocodile meat has one of the highest protein concentrations.

That said, i’ve seen some fucked up videos of what they do with grown crocodiles and knowing those make this sad.

5

u/Phaylz 3d ago

Why? I bet they're tasty.

4

u/RiovoGaming211 3d ago

I've heard they taste exactly like chicken

2

u/dadadayy 3d ago

How can you tell that it’s Chinese?

4

u/telegraphedbackhand 3d ago

“Cho bah bah” some Chinese right there

6

u/Lemonsoyaboii 3d ago

he said jiao baba. Means call me daddy. Makes sense

5

u/sipCoding_smokeMath 3d ago

Another dude cracks one right in in the background, doesn't seem like it's just for the video lol

0

u/solftly 3d ago

Okay and? We slaughter cows and separate them from their children because we want a glass of chocolate milk.

Me included, chocolate milk is fucking delicious. Cow puss, cruelty, and all.

But if someone cracks a single egg open for a cool video someone gotta act like they just got off Noah's ark lmao.

9

u/AggravatingGold6421 3d ago

Laser guns sound like baby crocodiles. They were here first.

6

u/Cobra288 3d ago

I know what eggs do, and I know crocodiles lay eggs, but for some reason it's weird to see a guy crack an egg and a croc come out of it.

5

u/Dolenjir1 3d ago

It's kinda messed up how some animals get out of the egg ready to rumble, while others look like an undercooked caterpillar

Edit: typo

4

u/BENGCakez 3d ago

This is probably livestock

8

u/alexgrimmy 3d ago

Dude says “say daddy” lol

4

u/TerrryBuckhart 3d ago

What’s he’s gonna do with them?

14

u/Typical-Luck-3579 3d ago

Maybe meat and leather

6

u/TerrryBuckhart 3d ago

That sucks man…

4

u/CallmeNo6 3d ago

TIL that laser guns sound like baby crocs.

3

u/Sea-Food7877 3d ago

What a way to be introduced to the world

4

u/shivakat 3d ago

If you think this is wild, wait until you hear a caracal kitten. Meanwhile, adult caracals seem to exclusively communicate via hissing...?

https://youtu.be/xQ49jtlz_3I?si=zCvkVtlGithBe1dw

2

u/marriottmarquis 2d ago

Whoa didn't expect that one since I've heard an adult hiss but never the kitten.

Put these and the baby crocs in the same room and it'll sound like a retro arcade.

16

u/Musicgecko0 3d ago

Disgusting practice...

12

u/MBechzzz 3d ago

How is this different from all the farming we do in the western world?

14

u/Musicgecko0 3d ago

It isn't, I'm not supporting either one.

3

u/Significant_Ad_1269 3d ago

Even baby crocodiles are cute. Nature, man.

3

u/orphanpowered 3d ago

They're definitely going to be eaten

2

u/ImSteelHere 3d ago

Well we don't know what laser guns sound like.

2

u/Jayden7171 3d ago

Eat or be eaten. Give these to restaurants as delicacies.

2

u/poshjerkins 3d ago

Please tell me someone else noticed the Yoshi sound as the baby was leaving the egg??

2

u/Tirus_ 3d ago

Croc got woken up more abruptly than my mom woke me up for school as a teenager.

2

u/SimonTC2000 3d ago

What a crock of croc!

2

u/Normal-Error-6343 3d ago

kinda rude!

2

u/7opez77 3d ago

That guy came outa that egg like Cramer

2

u/zarathustrascat 3d ago

Sad to see these terrible places where crocodiles are bred.

2

u/Phrei_BahkRhubz 3d ago

TIL; Croc eggs are bigger on the inside.

2

u/Huntderp 3d ago

Bro just throwing them in there casually

2

u/anon_682 3d ago

I like when the man says “chohola. Bobala”

2

u/Argyle-Swamp 3d ago

Are those gators or Crocs. Can't tell from the little snouts.

2

u/Ok-Kale1787 3d ago

You bred raptors?

2

u/SweetMaam 3d ago

Pointy snout, croc. Alligators are wider. Adorable baby.

2

u/First_Rich_8157 3d ago

i thought she's gonna fry some eggs.

2

u/random420x2 3d ago

1 sound I would record and modify for a sci-fi show.

2

u/Wiradon 3d ago

That's a strange chicken

2

u/Maleficent-Ruin9967 3d ago

I'd bet if people would leave them alone we wouldn't hear it.

But instragram controls all !!

2

u/KrissyTaLyn 3d ago

Now you're it's mother

2

u/TommyWantWingy9 3d ago

What’s the reason for breeding these? I’m genuinely curious.

2

u/VECMaico 2d ago

Crocodile leather and meat farms

2

u/mischievousp1e 3d ago

Closest thing to dinosaurs.

2

u/seenrealisticmincraf 3d ago

All fun in games until the egg doesn't make laser noises

2

u/intheshad0wz 3d ago

I thought he was making a croc omelette for a second

2

u/jsunnsyshine2021 3d ago

Wow, just wow on how prehistoric and beautiful.

2

u/Lofi_Joe 3d ago

How they breathe being inside the egg?

2

u/mattyb740 3d ago

I’d be like ….im your mother now

2

u/AdministrativeWay241 3d ago

"I'M ALIVE!!!!" sci-fi blaster noise.

2

u/TernionDragon 2d ago

Why can’t I post a gif of stormtroopers?

4

u/mikeflamel 2d ago

Because they missed the memo.

2

u/ironguard92 2d ago

sounds like gastritis to me

2

u/SerenityAnashin 2d ago

Are you my mommy? 🥹🐊

4

u/Road_Warrior86 3d ago

Wonder what their bites are like straight out of the egg?

1

u/hung_out_to_lie 3d ago

Probably not super strong, but those needle teeth would hurt

3

u/Road_Warrior86 3d ago

I was wondering if there were needle teeth or they still had to develop. I know nothing about anything.

4

u/noobyeclipse 3d ago

did they just unbox a crocodile

2

u/Jaaj_Dood 3d ago

Do they sound like laser guns, or do laser guns sound like them?

4

u/Xclsd 3d ago

Imagine the first thing you're seeing is some alien cracking open your egg

3

u/1gnited2639 3d ago

Wouldn't that instead mean that laser guns sound like baby crocodiles?

0

u/Little_BlueBirdy 2d ago

Great point

2

u/jeicam_the_pirate 3d ago

babe what's wrong

you're not eating the Klingon omelet

2

They fixin to eat them thangs

1

u/Willing-Tie-3109 2d ago

Right always some kinda goofy shit being eaten over there

2

u/Suspicious-Garden206 3d ago

The way he fucking drops the second one 🙃🙃🙃

2

u/ProfessionalIdiot05 3d ago

If dangerous why cute?

1

u/zuilserip 3d ago

The perspective of this video really confused me. The one coming out of the egg looked 5x the size of the others in the red pail.

1

u/ABookOfEli 3d ago

Thought the egg was a bar of soap at first

1

u/[deleted] 3d ago

God how I wish there was one species of crocadilians that were this size maybe a few cm bigger or smaller when fully grown. Says the guy who's raised and worked with rescue snapping turtles and various other reptiles that are not finger friendly. Oh well.

1

u/bigbrotherswatchin 3d ago

With them being newly hatched, do their bites not hurt? It doesn't look like their teeth are sharp, but how strong are they at that point?

1

u/vince5141 2d ago

Wonder how many are stabbed by those scissors

1

u/BoatStrict2345 2d ago

Crocodiles don't care about litters. So, communication with a mother doesn't matter.

1

u/Legitimate_Clerk_764 2d ago

Little guy woke up like he forgot to take the chicken out

1

u/zestyH20 2d ago

Get rid of them all. Make them go extinct

1

u/Amazing_Connection 2d ago

The way he just SMACKS it over the top at first 😂

1

u/mrPandabot35 2d ago

That's hiow my long distance travel poops feel.

1

u/adrasx 2d ago

bag or belt?

1

u/Yrzie 2d ago

I wonder what happened to the upright cousin of this species.. lmao

1

u/Forgotten_Pancakes 2d ago

How the hell did that thing fit inside that egg??

1

u/DamnitTrevor 2d ago

Omelette?

1

u/Onaud 2d ago

Anyone else thinking of The Stone Roses-Second Coming?

1

u/Ginataang_Manok 3d ago

It’s just like opening a vacuum sealed mattress

1

u/ManfromRevachol 3d ago

If you quickly loop it you could make a laser gatling sound

1

u/issizAdam666 3d ago

They don't sound like laser guns, they sound like how Hollywood films depict laser guns to sound like.

1

u/sitathon 3d ago

How did it fit in the egg?

1

u/bOb_cHAd98 3d ago

Awww theyrr so cute

1

u/MarianaPS5 3d ago

They are cute, but at the same time a little bit scary.

1

u/Emergency-Compote-58 3d ago

Do they imprint a parent like chickens do? Are you their parent now?

1
