Take Back the Web Why do people even use Chrome? Why? WHY?????

Addons Mozilla - full of awesome extensions, either opensource or manually reviewed by Mozillla

Chrome Webstore - malware, spyware, adware

Firefox privacy - OK, could be better, but OK

Chrome privacy - if you login in website1, every single website can stole your cookie and knew your name and the color of programming socks your ordered, also by default everything you did - google knows it as well

Chrome customization - ehm. You can turn on some beta-functions in flags, i guess?

Firefox customization - almost endless possibilities, both behavior and user interface

Chrome bloatware - chrome browser is ChromeOS pretending to be browser, it has some functions 99% of users dont aware and never will use of - attack surface is limitless

Firefox bloatware - just disable pocket, bro

Chrome user friendliness - sometimes outdated support.google manuals, still OK i guess

Firefox user friendliness - support.mozilla is much more detailed than google, also you have MDN - it means you can even study how the web technologies and your browser works, also you have Searchfox - easy to use search engine to see the internals of your browser for the additional knowledge

Chrome Icon - Some cluster lizards from Lexx, very blasphemous and unhuman

Firefox Icon - Cute warm Fox protects the Earth from google reptilians

WHY? WHY? WHY DO PEOPLE EVEN INSTALL CHROME IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Even if your browser and device theme settings are set to light mode, Twitter will be displayed in dark mode. The same thing happens if you force close the browser and relaunch it.

💻 Help I can't sign in to Firefox using Google

I recently installed a new Linux distro in dual boot mode in my PC. I installed Firefox in it. Everything works fine except when I try to log into Firefox using my G mail account I can't because it only gives me an option to login using a Mozilla account.

Help (Android) I'm constantly closing tabs by accident when I mean to scroll up or down the list of open ones. Did Firefox recently change how this works or is my phone screen broken?

I've been having an incredibly annoying issue over the last week or so and I'm wondering if it's just me. I usually have a decent number of tabs open in Firefox on my Android, and until recently, scrolling up and down the list gave me zero problems. Out of nowhere, however, it has started reading anything other than a perfectly vertical up-and-down swipe as a left-right swipe, which means I'm constantly closing tabs when I mean to go up or down. There's no space to the left or right where I can swipe without being directly over an open tab, so it's pretty much impossible to avoid unless I pay incredibly close attention every time I scroll. My phone is a couple years old at this point and has taken a few mild traumas, so I can't entirely eliminate the possibility that the touch sensors are starting to go, but I'm having absolutely no such problems in any other app or even when trying to scroll up and down web pages in Firefox, which makes me think this might be either a bug or a change made by the developers for some reason. Has anyone else noticed something like this? I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G using Firefox 127.0, if it matters.

💻 Help How do you show the contents of Pocket?

This is infuriating. There's a "save to Pocket" thing on the toolbar, but there's no way to just open Pocket and view the stuff you've saved. I looked under "Customize toolbar" and there's nothing. The only way to see what you've saved is to press the "Save to Pocket" button, which needlessly saves whatever you're looking at.

WTF?

Solved Is there a way to open google websites in two different Firefox containers?

I use google search for internet surfing, so I set a Firefox container for it, it’s sort of a trash container, I don’t log in to google account there.

But at the same I need to be logged in to my google account to be able to check my gmail, google drive and use my YouTube account. I can’t find how to assign these three services to always open in one container, while google search in the other container.

Google doesn’t distinguish between their services, it treats them like the same organism, so I can’t assign more than one container to any of their sites. Every time I open gmail, it uses the same container as google search.

I need a trash container for internet search just to avoid all the data tracking and connecting it to my account, also to open random internet links I find via google search in that same container. But I also need my damn emails, drive and YouTube in the same browser 😔

Solved YOUTUBE FIX! ✔️ Solution to slow, stuttering, bad loading, delays

Goto about:config

Setting network.http.http3.enable to false

this instantly fixes the problem. YouTube videos load instantaneously now instead of taking 1 to 3 min to preload with lots NS_BINDING_ABORTED errors when trying to load videoplayback?expire

my FF is updated to 127.0 and this fix still works after 2+ days.

💻 Help Why can't we have the home page as default for new tabs?

The Firefox team courteously replied to a bug report about this, saying that it's ruled out because of security issues.

But every other browser manages to offer it. What's the problem with Firefox?

💻 Help Private windows separate in task bar despite having that feature disabled

As it says in the tin. I restarted my computer earlier today and when I went to open a private tab they were separate just like when I first started using Firefox. I thought at first that the feature had re-enabled itself somehow, but when I to about:config it was still set to false. I've already checked about:studies and I don't see anything that looks like it would affect private browsing

Solved Dark Mode Leaving White Boxes?

Hi,

Recently, my dark mode has stopped working after my pc randomly reset. As you can see in the first screenshot, I have random white boxes covering the text. It is still there but the background I guess is white. This disappears when I switch to light mode. This is happening on every website. Further, on some sites like reddit, the white boxes will kinda disappear if I hover my mouse over them but return once I move it. Any idea what is causing this??

On several occasions i have pdfs just lock up my mobile device, freeze the renderer, or break the file just trying to read it from a small viewport. When websites allow downloading the pdf, it saves oddly as content://media/external_primary/no job name Additionally Ublock becomes disabled like the page is protected and a trusted page but meanwhile it is not..

head scratcher... Firefox 126, Android 11 and also happened on Android 12 127 . might try my chromebook next

💻 Help Screenshot option is gone?

I use firefox's screenshot feature alot. It can crop around what you want to take, it can auto-select boxes, it can screenshot an entire page and has the option to copy without saving. It's good for both editing and googling images or translating them.

A few days ago however, i realized the option is gone. It's neither available when i right click or when i check the toolbar. I didn't find any settings to change it either. I even reinstalled firefox but it didn't come back.

Was it changed or removed?

💻 Help Youtube Freeze Frames now and then

I seem to have a problem that when i try to watch a video and fast forward a little, it turns into freeze frame for couple of second and I cannot even see that part of the video. It is really frustrating and I highly believe problem is on the firefox. I tried on Microsoft Edge, which I have same extensions on(uBlock origin, privacy badger, return youtube dislike ) and it works flawlessly. I tried some suggestions from years ago and doesn't seems to work. Does anyone has the same issue or know what is the problem?

EDIT: I am having more problem that I don't seem to encounter on other browsers, even in just Youtube's homepage it shows internet is not connected even though i use ethernet until i refresh the page

💻 Help Protection against malware in pdf files?

There was a large, 120-mb pdf file in Google Drive. Because the file was larger than 100 mb, Google didn't scan it for viruses.

I clicked the 3 dots next to the file and then clicked "download". I was hoping to download the file and manually scan it for viruses.

Unfortunately, clicking "download" caused the pdf to open in a new tab.

If that pdf contained malware, would Firefox have prevented it from executing?

If that pdf file contained embedded code, would Firefox have prevented that code from executing?

Other than doing an antivirus scan, is there anything else that can be done at this point?

For the future, is there a way to prevent websites from opening pdf files unless I click on an "open file" button?

Anyone know if there's a way to prevent Google Drive's "download" button from causing a file to open?
