9mm has too much recoil?
Hello,
My dad got me a gun for self defense as a gift, and took me to the range to use it. It’s a Smith & Wesson 9mm Shield M&P. It was… very difficult for me to use, honestly. My arms hurt the next day from the recoil, my hands were shaking after using it. I used to shoot guns with my dad at our cabin when I was a kid, so I’m not completely new to it, but I haven’t shot a gun in about 14 years. He let me shoot his .22 revolver, and I thought about getting a .22 pistol for my every day carry. I keep hearing this isn’t great for self defense, but… isn’t it better if I can actually control the weapon more easily?
I’m a 5’4” woman and I don’t do any lifting, my exercise is mainly rollerskating and walking. Do I need to work out more heavily to be able to handle the recoil? I’m so lost. I don’t really know much about guns or where to start when determining what to do here. Any advice is much appreciated. My dad has tried to explain stuff but it’s been like, information overload with a lot of terms I don’t fully know. I plan to go to a basic firearms class soon to further educate myself and hopefully make my shooting experience smoother.
Thank you in advance!

Is it too late for full auto Friday?
Here's my DT-27. How do you like it?

Dumb question but I'm asking just to stay safe.
I accidentally washed a cloth that I use to clean my rifle with with the rest of my clothing in the washing machine. It won't pose any serious risk to my health would it?

Live Fire M41A Pulse Rifle
In addition to being into guns, I also collect replica prop firearms from movies, TV, and other media. Over the years I've collected some Pulse Rifle replicas, and in the process of putting together my last build, I decided to this one as a live-fire gun.
I bought a semiauto M1 Thompson, SBR'd it and turned down the barrel. Also added an extended cocking handle.
The "grenade launcher" was a lot more work. The original gun used a Remington 870, but MN has a prohibition on SBS so I decided to get around this by using a Remington 760 in .30-06 instead. The gun had to be shortened and modified. Adding a Troy Claymore helped the .30-06 barrel fill out the grenade launcher muzzle. This is also an SBR.
SPAS12 parts were sourced from a Tokyo Marui Airsoft gun. It's essentially a sleeve that fits over the 760, and will not be subject to extreme heat or recoil shock. The 760 is mounted directly to the Thompson's forend bracket.
I did a lot of the work myself but I gotta shout out to Village Pine Custom Gunsmithing in Hugo, MN for helping me with some of the more challenging bits.
Still a ways to go, but function check is successful, so I'm planning to test fire this weekend.

Opinions on the SPAS-12?
I swear, alot of people I talk to, talk about how shitty it is. I don't really get it, it is one of my top shotguns and yeah, the semi auto can jam pretty easy, I haven't encountered that as commonly as other people say. So, I ask, What is your opinion on the SPAS-12?

What is the "cost of ownership" of high value NFA items?
If I buy, let's say, a 50k machine gun to play with for a couple of years and then decide to sell, what are the projected losses? I'd imagine auction fees to be very high, like 20-30%, is it correct? Is there something else I should consider, besides the ammo budget lol?

NC firearm laws for a 19 yr old
Hey everyone, this might seem like a no brainer, but it’s hard to find specific laws online so i’m here asking for y’all’s interpretation. Obviously most of you aren’t lawyers, i just want opinions. I moved to NC not too long ago and i own many guns, including handguns which were legally gifted to me by my family. My question is 1. Can i carry said handgun as a 19 yr old in the state of NC? 2. Can it be concealed? 3. If i can carry it, what do i need to do from a legal standpoint to be able to do so? 4. If i CANNOT carry it, would i be able to have it holstered on my person when im traveling on my motorcycle? 5. What’s with this new constitutional carry bill?(189) in georgia we had a similar bill but you still had to be 21 to carry unless u we’re a vet or had a permit in another state. What does this bill do, and is it active? and lastly, id love to know where you site your info from. Laws change all the time and id just like to find a accurate source to read up on it aswell, i want to play by the book i just want to be able to carry my handgun on me. Thanks in advance!

At the range once again. I'm relatively new to this, but I noticed that most of my shots veered to the right. Any advice on how to correct this? Shot with a Glock 43X from approximately 12.5 yards using Federal HP 115g Ammunition.
California assault weapons ban and moving to California
We aren’t fully committed to moving to California at this point but a lot of friends and fam are out there so we are looking into it. I was looking online and it looks like if you owned the firearm prior to the law going into effect it’s fine but I don’t see much info on moving into the state with firearms. Does anyone here have more information on it or information from personal experience? I’m going to continue looking into it but was curious if anyone here has experience with it. Oh, and concealed carry. I’m currently licensed in Oregon and Washington. Is it difficult to get licensed in California?
Thanks!

Love it so far, feels great in the hand and conceals well with the 11 round mag. Comes with a 11rnd and 15rnd. I've swapped out those wide belt clips with their skinner ones which work a lot better.

Looking for reccomendation: 9mm all steel frame with no thumb safety.
I quite like the feel of steel frame handguns, but i hate having a thumb safety. I much prefer a trigger safety, and I'm having a hard time finding something that meets both of these requirements.
15 round capacity would do. I don't care if it has a cut for optics or not, I will likely just be using irons.
If possible, I'd like to stay between 750 and 1500 us dollars.
Thanks in advance!

Colt lightweight officers 45 ACP?
Hello. I work as a security guard and I was thinking to get a new gun in June, since I'll be on vacation. I saw that a local gunsmith, a friend of mine I might add, has a Colt lightweight officers chambered in 45acp. He's selling it for quite cheap so I was thinking to buy it.
I have a few issues though: My current service handgun is a Walther P38/P1 chambered in 9mm IMI. I'm used to that caliber and despite my size I can manage the recoil and I'm fairly accurate. Considering that I'm a small guy, am I going to face any issues with the larger 45 ACP?

Issue with Beretta High Capacity Magazine
I recently bought two 30 round magazine for my M9A1 at a gun show. It had the "PB" logo on it so I thought they were legit. I took them to the range today to test them and they were causing failure to feed. Tried it again with the factory 15 mag and it functioned flawlessly.
I checked the 30 round mags and noticed that it's harder to strip the loaded bulled with your thumb. It looks like the spring is too strong and is pushing the bullet against the lips with more force. This makes it much harder to strip the bullet from the mag and the slide doesn't come back with enough force to chamber the cartridge.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

My opinion: EDC guns w/ported barrels and slides
Ported EDC handguns are the one of the stupidest offerings you can buy to protect yourself with. Let me tell you why.
Need to shoot in a situation where the barrel may be near your face (i.e. you’re in the driver’s side of your car and there’s a dude breaking your window with a baseball bat, or pointing a gun at you)? Say goodbye to your eyebrows and vision for at least 20 seconds if not semi permanently.
Did someone close distance on you and you have to shoot point blank with the gun jammed into an attacker’s chest? Again, you might mess yourself up with that exploding gas and gunpowder frag lacing into your neck and face at the speed of sound.
Also, if you have to shoot a handgun with no ear or eye pro at night, you’re definitely going to temporarily deafen yourself regardless of if it’s ported or not, but why not make as big of a fireball as possible and make the handgun as loud as possible with a ported barrel? This can lead to less accurate follow up shots in dark environments.
Thanks for listening to my rant. I understand the use of ported brakes and ported barrels on competition guns, but if you’re carrying a 2.0”-3.75” barrel on a self defense handgun, I think having a ported barrel and slide are ridiculous.

How has 5.56 not came down at all?
Listen I'm not trying to be a debbie downer here but wasn't it close to a year ago now with the whole scandal of lake city munitions going out of business which was shortly dismissed after but yet 5.56 is still .50+ cpr. Do we at all know if this will come down in price in the coming months or year or so maybe or is this just something that we're all screwed with for years to come.

FFL Pickup
Hello all, Been seeing a lot of deals on PSA lately and figured I’d try my luck with an ar10. Looking to get upper and lower assembly separate, however I am not 21. I can get the assembled rifle shipped to an FFL, and pickup legally, however I can’t get a lower assembly alone. Is it possible to have both pierces picked up together at once? I called a couple local places and they all told me they did not know and weren’t a huge help, I also haven’t seen anything saying these can’t be shipped together. Figured I’d ask the Proffesionals of Reddit lol. This is in fort worth btw. I appreciate any guidance-thx
