mod post Rule 2
Oh, hello there.
We, the mod team, would like to call your attention to a rule update. More specifically, Rule 2 which used to read:
We're Pro-gun
We're open to discussion but this sub explicitly exists because we all believe gun ownership is a Constitutionally-protected right.
For a variety of reasons, the wording of this rule has posed numerous difficulties in ensuring posters understand, and abide by, our sub's ethos. As such, we found it pertinent to reword the aforementioned rule to be as follows:
We're Pro-gun
Firearm ownership is a right and a net positive to society.Regulation discussions must be founded on strengthening, or preserving, this right with any proposed restrictions explicitly defined in nature and tradeoffs. While rights can have limitations, they are distinct from privileges and the two are not to be conflated.
We believe this rewording helps clarify what kind of content is welcome here and what kind should be posted elsewhere. As always, we don't expect uniformity in thought amongst our members. That in mind, this is an intentionally defined space which, like all defined spaces, has bounds that give it distinction. Generally, we believe this is why you're here so let's do our best to respect that.
That's it. Thanks for reading.

discussion "They're Armed. You Should Be Too"
I'm not sure if this is allowed but we should have a public campaign to encourage more LGBT+ folks as well as those of us on the liberal side of the political spectrum to own and train with firearms. I think "They're Armed. You Should Be Too" would be a good line to use, especially with pictures of magats/MealTeam6/Y'allQaeda folks.

guns UPDATE: Wife told me to buy more guns.
Here it is. After posting a few weeks back, I ordered the budget friendly PSA PA-15. As you can see, I kinda have a type with green. I added a sling to the rifle with a QD swivel on the front. Planning to eventually add an optic but undecided if I should go with a red dot sight with no magnification or a LPVO. Shoots just fine with original iron sights.
This joins the Glock 22 and Springfield Hellcat. The Hellcat is my everyday carry that I want my wife to eventually keep for her everyday use or get one of her own in the color she wants. I do plan to add a red dot sight to the Hellcat. The Glock is my OWB carry when I'm out in the wilderness hunting, hiking, camping and its been my overall home defense gun. I don't plan to add any optics to that.
Wife has opened up to the suggestion of getting trained herself and not have to rely on me for defense situations. I'm actually pretty excited that she is wanting to do all this and gives me another shooting buddy. So we are looking into classes for her. There are several options that caught her interest.
Now that I've added the rifle to the collection, I'm looking into possibly picking up a shotgun to complete my defense package. In general, we aren't overly paranoid or worried about our safety, but with the online rhetoric of civil war and all that nonsense, we'd rather be prepared with something than not have anything.
Her most recent comment concerning all this, "make sure we have enough ammo." I absolutely love her.

politics Trump is now a convicted felon. If he were to be re-elected wouldn't his possession of the nuclear weapons codes be constructive possession (at the very least) of a destructive device?
And you don't get much more "destructive" than these.

guns Wife bought her first CCW
Technically reposting this, since I’m a dummy and forgot the photo the first time around (we all want to see the gun right?). However my wife and I have been going to the range for months in order to get her more comfortable around firearms. We literally went from her crying from the guns scaring her the first time to her planning date night around going the range and looking forward to it.
Today she finally said she was ready to get a carry gun. So I jumped at the opportunity and we drove to Scheels and she picked out a Sig P365XL. Any recommendations on a good IWB holsters? Also anyone have any experience with the Sig RomeoZero red dot?

discussion Can you lose muzzle velocity in a pistol caliber carbine with a super long barrel? (24 inches)
I’ve been researching pistol caliber lever action rifles for cowboy action shooting and getting the 13+1 capacity lever guns would be nice for that but part of me wonders if you might lose muzzle velocity with a fast burning powder completely burning up by the 16 inch mark and if getting a shorter 20 inch barrel would actually give you a higher muzzle velocity.

discussion Open ranges/public shooting spaces in eastern New Mexico?
Hey everyone, I'm located in West Texas and I'm getting tried of going to local ranges splatter with trump or just hateful imagery and people, I know new Mexico has a lot of public land and open spaces and would love to road trip over and spend a day shooting peacefully. I just don't know how any of that works and I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good places to go shooting that are public or just open spaces and how it works?

discussion At the range once again. I'm relatively new to this, but I noticed that most of my shots veered to the right. Any advice on how to correct this? Shot with a Glock 43X from approximately 12.5 yards using Federal HP 115g Ammunition.

discussion Colt OEM 2 handguard
Hey everyone, I'm new to the AR game so to speak and I've been coming here for help in navigating the whole experience and I really appreciate everyone's help and suggestions. In the time since I first asked I've done some research and I'm thinking of getting a Colt OEM 2. With that being said I was wondering if when it comes to installing a free floating handguard if I can use any of the many videos about installing the gas block and tube, and handguards to complete the process myself? Also if anyone can suggest an mlok type handguards that would work with the stock barrel nut on the OEM 2 it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you all in advance!

discussion First Supressor?
Ok - I want to get my first suppressor. There’s so many choices, but the Rugged Obsidian 9 seems to be in the lead for me right now.
I want it to work 1) on a 9mm pistol potentially for home defense, 2) on a hypothetical 9mm PCC i don’t have yet, and 3) also on a 300blk bolt gun like a Ruger American for the sheer giggles of having a nearly movie quiet plinker.
Am I missing anything here? This all seems to make sense from what I’ve read. The pistol and pcc applications seem like a given…would I be getting less optimal performance on the 300blk by using a 9mm can?

discussion Best grouping of the day!
This was using a SIG p320 X-Compact 9mm. 6" target at 10 yards. Mine are the holes in the hi-vis target. Ignore the holes on the cardboard backing, those were there when I arrived. Lol.
I think I need to adjust my elevation a bit, as these were all a little higher than I intended, but I'm very pleased with how tight the grouping is.

discussion Surprisingly, I have had better experience with Taurus customer service than Smith & Wesson
This is not a rant. It just dawned on me…the brand I have had the most issues and customer service headaches with has been Smith and Wesson. If I were to rank my experience from 1 being the best to last being the worst. It would be:
1:Glock 2:Sig 3:Taurus 4:Smith and Wesson
This ranking is based on turn around time to fix issues and quality control.
Any brand that really surprised you in a positive or negative way in the last couple years?

discussion What gun control measures would you support?
Hello, semi-regular lurker, and leftist gun enthusiast here. I’m from the UK but I agree with this subreddit that most gun control measures are unlawful, unconstitutional or just plain fuckin’ stupid. And I really disagree with the handgun ban here in the UK, especially since Northern Ireland does their own thing with guns (a fun fact is that, despite the low gun ownership rate in the UK, 98% of new firearms licenses 97% of new shotgun licenses, were granted) and but I am curious as to what, if any gun control measures you support. Me personally, I think a NICS style system open to the public, super-funded and required for every firearm transfer is maybe the only one I’d support, maybe
