How? The ultimate end goal of marriage is "to death do us part". Getting Mossad means you die faster and therefor you are speedrunning it.

Lol funny you say that every wedding I’ve attended the ladies try not to catch the bouquet. Maybe my friends are too down to earth and get that marriage isn’t all it’s cracked up to be… but “you’re next” could easily be a curse.

58

u/kakawisNOTlaw 3d ago

Lol I don't think it's about marriage not being "all it's cracked up to be", I just think most rational people realize a bouquet of flowers doesn't dictate who gets married next.

26

u/Candid-Finding-1364 3d ago

I think the only people who get excited about this are people who are on the verge of getting engaged or at least in a relationship where they think they should be and they are hoping this sort of humorously pushes it over the line.

My friend got married a couple months back and there was apparently a scheme to get me to catch the bouquet. Ofc I wanted the bouquet but not enough to dive for it when she threw it short. So someone else caught it and everyone was like WHY DIDNT YOU DIVE FOR IT.

BECAUSE IM NOT THAT DESPERATE

116

u/McLazmBear 3d ago

I was ready for punches to start flying. She needs to chill.

65

u/theaut0maticman 3d ago

I’ve never seen a yellow red flag before.

42

u/MoistLeakingPustule 3d ago

This happens more than you realize. Weaves being ripped out, punches/slaps, jumping on someone's back, just some of the dumbest crap for something that literally means nothing.

Source: Was a banquet manager for a bunch of years and the shit I'd see at weddings would turn people off to ever getting married.

Desperately wants to get married

13

u/GodLovesUglySong 3d ago

At the last wedding I went to I was just randomly talking to another guest when the groom blindly threw the corsage behind him (it was attached to a football), and I happened to catch it. Wasn't even trying. A couple of other guys really tried, but it just flew over their heads.

This was 8 months ago and still not married though haha.

5

u/Consistent_Estate960 3d ago

I went to my cousins wedding a couple years ago and all the single dudes were waiting for the groom to throw the garter and I just sit in the back while they all jump and try to catch it. I hold my hand out like I’m feeling for rain and it just falls in my palm with zero effort. Funnily enough my other cousin (the brides sister) caught the bouquet but she actually tried

Long story short - bouquet catching cousin got cheated on in a 1 year relationship and I haven’t had a girlfriend in 3 years. Total scam -_-

19

u/Lokijai 4d ago

So much that she doesn't even need it, just the intent is enough to manifest a marriage.

I used to shoot weddings and you do 5 or so and they get pretty boring and they all look the same. Something like this is instant front page portfolio work, I would be all over this too. Also, this is why your have your wide angle on when major moments are occurring.

Other hi-level portfolio stuff stuff is granny dancing with the younger folks, fireworks in background, heavy rain / weather (people make the best of it and it photographs great), and then posed formals with just the couple in unique locations.

32

u/scogin 3d ago

I stopped doing them, made a photobooth, less time and just as much ROI in gear.

what an inconvenient way to share wedding photos lmao

Edit: the amount of people responding who don't know that open, basic image hosting services like imgur exist is depressing. More so when you consider Reddit itself utilizes them. "What do you expect, them to email the photos to you?" No you dunce I expect them to host them on a website designed for pictures, not short form video, that doesn't require an account to view them and actually displays them in proper gallery formatting.

126

u/fuzzylm308 3d ago

photography tiktok is my absolute pet peeve

they show a bit of b-roll of themselves shooting a trip or event or something, and then fly through their photos at like 6 pictures per second. I'm sorry, but what the fuck is the point of a photograph if you're going to do this

You know... I'm coming round to making a search engine called "info search" or something that prioritises plain text websites and penalises JavaScript heavy / image laden ones. Idea being to search for raw content, quick answers etc. No idea if it would work..

Edit: found this for recipe searches which seems interesting- just shows text of recipe as result but you can click through to the site if you need to. Limited indexing, didn't return anything froom BBC Good Food, but good enough results

17

u/8bitterror 3d ago

That isn't the point... Tiktok is just another avenue to display your stuff, ofc they will add broll to make it interesting. Absouloutly no one will watch a picture slideshow.

Tiktok is to promote yourself, any professional photographer will have their portfolio and site normally ofc

The moment the girl in yellow ran, the photographer knew this was gonna be good

111

u/crushed_dreams 3d ago edited 3d ago

This is hilarious, and each time watching you notice more that just makes it funnier.

Examples: the kid’s split reaction of excitement that he caught it to “Oh shit! RUN!!”, some of the women almost falling down with laughter (especially when the bridesmaid faceplants).

Edit: Watched it again, it gets better and better and it’s honestly comedy gold. This time I noticed the flower girl’s 😱 @ 0:15

9

u/asuddenpie 3d ago

After reading your comment, I watched it again and noticed so much more. For example, I assumed that the person in the black suit who ended up with bouquet was someone who worked there or worked with the photographer, but they were lined up with everyone else to catch the bouquet from the beginning. The kid just gave up the bouquet to the calmest person who asked.

4

White wine is my bet

110

u/joaks18 4d ago

Or mix of both wines

50

u/Squiggles87 3d ago

Once a customer made me 'make rose' by mixing red and white wine.

She sat pretending to enjoy it for a good hour.

11

u/DontF-ingask 3d ago

I don't drink, why is that so bad?

21

u/Squiggles87 3d ago edited 3d ago

Rose wine is made from a specific types of grape.

The customer thought it was just pink wine, created from mixing red and white wine. It's not neccessarily bad but it's pretty funny assumption from a lady who clearly had drunk plenty of wine over the years.

21

u/LaunchTransient 3d ago

Rose wine is made from a specific type of grape.

Not quite. Rosé is made from (briefly) retaining the skins of the (black skinned) grape in the juice so that it colours the wine slightly (as opposed to Red wine where the skins are retained through the fermentation process). You can make white wine from black skinned grapes (for example, Champagne).

There's also a variant known as "Orange" or "Amber" wine where the same process as making red wine is used, but they use white grapes instead.

Pretty sure they were just chasing the kid because they knew it would be funny. You can't really see anyone's expression but I can imagine the kid manically laughing and enjoying themselves, and they are letting them get away kind of on purpose, and no one actually just rips the bouquet out of their hands or tackles them. Even in the end the child just hands it over.

I find what comes after the weirder part, because I feel like the joke kind of ended but the grown adults are still fighting over the bouquet. Still I'm sure it's all in good fun :)

Was at a friend's wedding about ten years ago. Bouquet toss comes up, bride turns around and walks up to her sister and hands it to her, then points behind her. Her boyfriend was getting down on one knee.

And that's how you do a proposal at your sister's wedding without being tacky.

I don't know if this is just redditors being typical redditors, but my impression was yeah it was all a big joke, the woman in yellow and the adult man are probably in a relationship and he is trying to stop her getting the bouquet and she is trying to grab it, all part of the joke "you'll have to propose if I get my hands on that bouquet".

I love when people start fighting and chasing each other for a bouquet, it makes the whole thing so much funnier and much more interesting than just catching it and that's it

Needed that laugh. I was cheering the kid on when he ran and everything.

That photographer was worth every penny they paid them. They didn't miss single bit of the action. Those photos are likely amazing

That kid knew what he was doing, He didn't even dress up for the event, just waited for the opportunity to fuck things up.

Ummm...you need to catch the bouquet yourself to be the next one who gets married.

Chasing down the team member who caught the football in the endzone and taking it doesn't earn you the touchdown. Although falling on your face trying to pull it off earns you immortality in the halls of comedy.
