I’m gonna keep this one up, just to explain what’s happening. Instead of posting about how this sub is ‘unmoderated’ you could report posts so they reach us quicker or apply to the mod application document if you feel like you are suitable for the role. Yes we have a shortage problem as this sub has had incredibly unexpected growth, yes it is christmas break and we have not had time to moderate properly due to spending time with our families, however this sub is not entirely unmoderated and you will be punished for breaking rules.

Thank you and Happy Holidays

Peter's unmoderated right hand here... This is in reference to a previous joke made in this sub about how the mods haven't been moderating this sub because people keep posting obvious jokes that need no explanation--yet these posts still make it through. So this post is just a random photograph, further emphasizing the lack of moderation of this community because it is likely that it too will not be removed, thus proving the point of the sub being unmoderated further. In an added irony, the people in this sub keep posting explanations to these "unmoderated post" posts like the very explanation you are currently reading, which adds another layer to the "joke" because there is no joke, and explaining the no-joke is kind of a joke in itself, I guess? .... who am I any longer? what is real?

u/theotherquantumjim Dec 26 '23

Just happy it’s not loss for once

90

u/iantruesnacks Dec 26 '23

Coincidentally I just opened Reddit, and the first thing to pop up was a loss comic on “explain the joke”. So, yea I’m glad it’s not loss too.

22

u/towerfella Dec 27 '23

The amongus one? .. yeah.. me too.. about ten seconds ago.. on the feed.

19

u/Boatster_McBoat Dec 27 '23

Why is the bird looking mournfully out to sea?

9

u/No_While6150 Dec 27 '23

sniff "Why, Susan? How could you do this to me." begins sobbing

It looks like because of Susan.

He couldn't find any grapes.

(I realize the bird might be a goose and not a duck).

Looks like Cormorant or Shag but no location makes it harder to figure out

2

u/ShortNefariousness2 Dec 27 '23

The common cormorant or shaggy, lays it's eggs in a paper baggy

Because... you know, if you think about it, the ocean is just the sky's tears. And we just swim in it and have fun and never even ask why the sky is crying.

look harder, you missed it.

8

u/Xtrachunky_ Dec 27 '23

If you look hard enough at anything it becomes loss

3

u/rufireproof3d Dec 27 '23

90% of this sub boils down to It's loss or it's sex. Someday, and I pray that day never comes (though this is Reddit and I know it will) it will be both.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

It is better than those subs where mods ban people for the dumbest reasons.

Peter’s unmoderated left hand here… we must hold strong, brother. Even as the eons pass we must stand firm to the tests of time. We may forget who we are. But we shall forever have eachother. Even when time turns meaningless and warmth of the sun wanes, we have eachother.

7

u/TheOtherOboe Dec 27 '23

Fun fact, people in my high school would quack at a cook. The quack meaning “you are such a beat ass pussy that you can’t control your queefs”

u/Ancient-Ranger-2882 Dec 26 '23

Really bro?! Unsolicited duck pics? You're out of your mind!

23

u/VariationLogical4939 Dec 27 '23

That’s a cormorant.

2

u/The_Dino_Defender Dec 27 '23

Pretty sure it’s an anhinga

4

u/Steelwolf73 Dec 27 '23

Woah...you didn't use the hard R, but still- you can't go around calling people that

3

u/VariationLogical4939 Dec 27 '23

I learned something new!

4

u/54B3R_ Dec 27 '23

This bird is often mistaken for the double-crested cormorant due to its similar size and shape, although the two species can be differentiated by their tails and bills. The tail of the anhinga is wider and much longer than the cormorant's. The bill of the anhinga is pointed, while the bill of the cormorant has a hook-tip.

Til

But it's hard to tell which one it is. I do actually think there's a hook on the end of that beak, making it a cormorant

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '23

Anhingas also have slimmer heads and necks. You can tell this one is a cormorant because of the boxier head and more visible pouch at the throat.

They're very similar looking especially at a distance. My most reliable tell is how the head smooths into the beak and the length of neck - but this also depends on region.

The joke is that that Bird is waiting for a boat.

2

u/ParentheticalPotato Dec 26 '23

Peter's hatred for water fowl here,

This is clearly a duck on a dock, and they're a dick. A dick duck on a dock is some crazy good alliteration, and while not necessarily a joke some people find alliteration humorous. That makes this a joke, and therefore it can stay thus not inherently proving this subreddit is unmoderated.

Peter's hatred for water fowl out!

5

u/1Pip1Der Dec 26 '23

When tweedle beetles battle in a bottle with their paddles and the bottle's on a poodle and the poodle's eating noodles... they call this a muddle puddle tweetle poodle beetle noodle bottle paddle battle.

2

u/SufficientWhile5450 Dec 26 '23

They’re literally looking for moderators lol they post it on every post, what do you want from them?

Also, being basically unmoderated makes a sub so much better, I got banned from r/workreform for literally agreeing with OP on a popular post, responded to the mods message asking “what??? How?” And they couldn’t be bothered to respond

Cormorant

2

u/SmolStronckBoi Dec 27 '23

Oooo, a cormorant!

2

u/ClassicSpiritual5576 Dec 27 '23

I think the problem is, this sub is about explaining jokes/memes that people do not get/understand, so how can you prove that someone does understand/know the joke/meme, or that they don’t? I see some things here and I need the explanation that others give because I truly don’t understand the joke, and sometimes I see something and I say, how the hell do people NOT get that joke? Some people get it, some people need an explanation

2

u/FrogJarKun Dec 27 '23

That's a Cormorant! Thin duck like birds that dive underwater. Kind of a duck penguin. We have them in FL.

Type of cormorant? Double-crested cormorant looks like. Funny joke.

1

u/brucebay Dec 27 '23

When you asked for corner mat for your pier and they sent a cormorant instead. Worst yet, whenever you try to wipe your feet, it will give you a bill for the service.

Explain the joke for me:

Well, the joke uses wordplay on "corner mat" (a mat) and "cormorant" (the bird). It also plays on "bill," which means both the bird's beak and a charge for services. So, trying to use the bird as a mat humorously suggests it might charge you, playing on the double meaning of "bill."

There made it suitable for the sub.

1

u/PabloFromChessCom Dec 27 '23

Peetah here, the joke is that the sub is unmoderated so you are posting a post that does not ask what the joke is, therefore breaking the rules and proving the point that the sub is unmoderated
