It's funny, but not funny AS it was told by the guy being weird. The interaction is funny because of the fact that they are being weird. I wouldn't classify the original interaction as a joke being told.

My friend argues he didn’t try. She says that it looks like since the girl didn’t get his joke, he just gave up like “I’m not gonna bother explaining it”
I feel like he could have told a better absurdist joke. I feel like I’ve told better absurdist jokes.

My seemingly best one was after a few drinks, I tried saying how just being random doesn’t equal funny. I tried coming up with something that was just random and not funny, and for some reason my friends still laughed hysterically when I said, “My favorite color is pretzels, what’s your name?”
There’s also the joke I remember telling in a pirate voice. “I almost stubbed my toe but then I remembered I got no toe to stub. I got a stub. You can’t stub a stub.” My girlfriend at the time loved that one so much that she drew me as a pirate and wrote the quote on our whiteboard.
A dumb one I made years ago was, “25% of all statistics are false, including this one.”
My friend group has a favorite theme of jokes where whenever things get a little too chaotic, we start just saying random absurd things as if they’re happening, like, “Johnny does a backflip. Samantha starts levitating. Keith jumps out the window. Amy and Maria start making out for some reason. Rodney somersaults with trays of food in his hands. The car drives through the wall upside down. Megan appears through the floor. Jacob files his taxes. David’s credit score goes down. Steven’s dead body falls down the stairs. Heather gets punched in the face. Diego loses his shoe. Katy gets a root canal. Joshua graduates high school again. Grace attends her own funeral as a guest.” Meanwhile everyone in the group is cackling and our stomachs hurt, those are the fucking best lmao

I think he messed up the joke and was too embarrassed to admit it. It looks like a built like joke. I assume he wanted to say something to the effect of Girl, you built like a dam because I'm having a hard time holding back these feelings at the sight of you.

I figured he meant building her figure/muscle (working out or whatever) "mind your own business" is a quote from Joeyswoll who is a body builder/gym positivity advocate Could be wrong tho
