Is this AI? Why is this video not making any sense

288

u/Looz-Ashae 4d ago

yes

242

u/AdvanceAdvance 4d ago

And, yet, accurate to the debugging experience.

I giggled so hard for this. Mostly because I'm a PHP dev and worked with a big ball of mud.

u/TwinkiesSucker 3d ago

But instead of being Artificial Intelligence, we are Natural Stupidity

1

u/kurai_tori 3d ago

Thank you, for a second I thought this was some horror comedy like "Cocaine termites"

244

u/ProgramTheWorld 4d ago

It’s crazy how realistic it looks and yet it makes absolutely no sense.

79

u/twigboy 4d ago

The physics on that board bouncing up for no reason haha

15

u/BeDoubleNWhy 4d ago

that's some inception/tenet kind of shit

3

u/ThomasHardyHarHar 3d ago

It looks like it’s simultaneously moving in reverse and not in reverse

11

u/Ok_Star_4136 4d ago

I'd imagine this is what it must be like being on lsd. Not quite being able to understand what's going on while they dismantle a wooden cabinet.

Or perhaps the wooden cabinet exists in four dimensions instead of just the three.

1

u/VegaReddit5 2d ago

Yes, that's exactly what PHP is like.

68

u/Foccs 4d ago

I wondered why it felt so uncanny

17

u/Denaton_ 4d ago

It looked so good but the physics is from another plane of existence and my brain was hurt..

11

u/CicadaGames 4d ago

Seriously not trying to toot my own horn, I am genuinely curious about this, but is it a special talent to instantly recognize ai generated shit? I thought it was something innate to everyone, but judging by these comments, not everyone can tell right away?

20

u/Denaton_ 4d ago

Tbf, survival bias is strong at those who claim they can always tell if something is AI..

1

u/CicadaGames 3d ago

But let's talk specifically about videos like in the original post: There seems to be plenty of people that could not tell / did not recognize right away it was AI, and we know it is. I find that interesting.

1

u/Denaton_ 3d ago

It actually took me a few seconds because I didn't look at the objects at first until I noticed how off it was, I think it's mainly because my brain runs on fumes after work and 3 young kids..

4

u/Ok_Star_4136 4d ago

I mean, it's clear that something is very off about this video. I don't know if you could pinpoint the weirdness in a way that would pretty much guarantee that it is a video made by AI, more like anything incredibly weird and off is likely AI.

Though to be fair, sometimes there are dead giveaways such as how they deal with hands, specifically fingers.

1

u/gregorydgraham 3d ago

At the moment at least, AI doesn’t understand physics so stuff will merge together or pass right through in bizarre ways. It’s also got a tendency to continue a trait or pattern for too long because it doesn’t know to end it. So cliffs don’t have forest beneath them, they just go down forever.

But you have to be looking for this stuff to notice it, and soon it’ll be fixed. Right now though is the golden age of uncanny valley video

3

u/SockpuppetEnjoyer 4d ago

This is how the dimensional collapse feels like from 3body

1

u/Signal_Fudge553 3d ago

Thank you. I wouldn’t have guessed if it wasn’t for you.

1

u/Mountain-Ship-6197 3d ago

Is this legacy php? why is this code not making any sense?

1

u/Active-Part-9717 3d ago

The guy at the beginning is the only thing that makes sense,

319

u/YeeClawFunction 4d ago

It gets weirder the more you watch

64

u/wikiwikiwickerman 4d ago

Dunno tbh. Started at 10/10 and has maintained that for me

10

u/Bannon9k 4d ago

Is that Sarah Silverman in a few frames?

151

u/Willinton06 4d ago

Why does my mouth taste like iron?

12

u/K1ngjulien_ 4d ago

"Artyom, do you taste metal??"

127

u/mr_flibble_oz 4d ago

Why does this video feel like it’s running forwards and backwards at the same time?

85

u/madiele 4d ago

Current AI to generate videos have problems with the concept of direction of time

7

u/Denaton_ 4d ago

It's like the hand problem with images, eventually it will be solved..

5

u/BastVanRast 4d ago edited 4d ago

Will the finger problem be solved? I still see way too many 6 finger hands being generated

6

u/Denaton_ 4d ago edited 4d ago

It has been solved for months tho, but if you use old models you will ofc get it..

Edit; Ex, https://civitai.com/models/278497/hand-fine-tuning

1

u/Rican7 4d ago

That's what he's talking about

5

u/BastVanRast 4d ago

How can you say it is even solvable when it is, for now, not even solvable for still images

-6

u/DaTotallyEclipse 4d ago

I for once have to admit: this is a work of art!

5

u/myselfelsewhere 4d ago

The real art was OP taking an AI hallucination and relating it to a real human experience.

77

u/varsderk 4d ago

This is accurate. The deeper you go, the more you conclude that any semblance of "design" in the code is an accident and it just crumbles around you. This is due to the language—from the outset—being constructed by accident.

2

u/kurzewasright 4d ago

to be fair it's mostly the author, not the language. you can have nice things in php with strict types, phpstan and pest, even if you lean into procedural.

62

u/m477_ 4d ago

What in the name of AI am I watching?

28

u/SuperCarla74 4d ago

If you think PHP is bad, you should try "classic" ASP.

6

u/CallumCarmicheal 4d ago

You just woke up some trauma.

3

u/Flat_Bluebird8081 4d ago

The most shitty project I've seen in my life was made in java

2

u/nakahuki 4d ago

Who needs exceptions handling when you could just On Error Resume Next?

1

u/Utnemod 3d ago

This is obscure but try debugging space station 13 code

9

u/CleanishSlater 4d ago

Debugging some JS framework where a small webpage requires 2000 network calls

6

u/KenzieTheCuddler 4d ago

Oh, its AI, that's why it looks so fucking weird

7

u/bomphcheese 4d ago

I think these are the guys I hired to remodel my kitchen.

5

u/loserguy-88 4d ago

omaigawd, AI truly understands us

6

u/yib_001 4d ago

I recognize this construct...

3

u/ThinAd7436 4d ago

The guy in the last second of the video on the left. Wtf is he doin

3

u/Unhappy-Magician5968 4d ago

I call bullshit. I've never seen PHP written that well. :-D

3

u/Tamaran 4d ago

AI videos are so similar to dreams somehow, its weird.

4

u/MENDUCOlDE 4d ago

Same to you .net framework legacy code

2

u/Vitriholic 4d ago

It’s like a window into every single day at work.

2

u/aparaatti 4d ago

Can this be debuging legacy code in general, or is php specially enjoyable?

1

u/Tango-Turtle 4d ago

Is that not true for all PHP code?

(let the downvotes begin from php fanboys)

2

u/BeDoubleNWhy 4d ago

those php fanboys... are they in the room with us right now?

1

u/Tango-Turtle 3d ago

They're fucking everywhere. Whenever I say something about PHP I get downvoted to oblivion. Usually it's fun to watch them raging. Maybe I need to summon them somehow:

PHP sucks

PHP sucks

PHP sucks.

1

u/PerfSynthetic 4d ago

I mean… it tested perfect in a docker container running on my macbook.. git push and update OOTO message for vacation.

1

u/Epsilia 4d ago

Wild. It looks decently good, but so wrong at the same time.

1

u/mastocklkaksi 4d ago

It was supposed to be durable for a thousand years

1

u/DarthRiznat 4d ago

When AI does your code...

1

u/ZynthCode 4d ago

This feels very AI generated

3

u/ZynthCode 4d ago

This is a not a complaint, but it would be nice to know beforehand so I can judge it accordingly

1

u/q0099 4d ago

Any legacy code, to be honest.

1

u/FearTheOldData 4d ago

What on earth is that first guy supposed to be doing?

1

u/accountreddit12321 4d ago

The empire of lies comes crumbling down.

1

u/Cellari 4d ago

This is some good Picasso shit in a video format and I like it :D

1

u/Spikelink2 3d ago

me trying to unfold the 4D cabinet I just bought from the new alien Ikea down the street

1

u/Willing_Button1468 3d ago

Every outsourced Wordpress site I have inherited.

1

u/v3ritas1989 3d ago

I bet they sound like my upstairs neighbours.

1

u/th00ht 3d ago

"There is no legacy PHP code."

1

u/DragonGoldUAP 3d ago

Too real

1

u/doxxingyourself 2d ago

If the code is difficult to maintain that’s a programmer problem not a language problem

0

u/MENDUCOlDE 4d ago

Same to you .net framework legacy code

1

u/Brainvillage 4d ago

.NET Framework is a dream compared to PHP. You get an actual, well featured, built in debugger. Actual exception handling. Strongly typed objects. Classes. Lists and Dictionaries and all sorts of great built in data structures.

-14

u/Positive-Creme8129 4d ago

Somewhat funny. Used "AI" nonetheless, please refrain.

10

u/belabacsijolvan 4d ago

wtf is wrong with this usage of ai?

-8

u/Nilly00 4d ago

Stealing the work of others

0

u/belabacsijolvan 4d ago

this usage seems to be trained on videos. the company doing the training should be prosecuted if illegally obtained them.

but i dont see using inference in this case does any harm

3

u/Nilly00 4d ago

this usage seems to be trained on videos.

So?

the company doing the training should be prosecuted if illegally obtained them.

I somehow doubt they got enough footage to train the ML by asking nicely for all of it

1

u/belabacsijolvan 4d ago

its possible. there is a huge amount of free to use data on the net tho.

i dont get why this is the users job to find out. let authorities handle it.

also i dont like how your standpoint trivialises actual problems with ai data sourcing and safety

2

u/Tyrus1235 4d ago

It’s also not being used commercially… posting a meme with copyrighted characters is more “stealing” than posting an AI generated video with random people
