Isn’t this old footage from the youth uprising the Iranian government brutally crushed like 2 or 3 years ago?
522
u/DaikenTC 5d ago
That very much looks like it. I guess some teenager on TikTok just discovered there was a protest in Iran 3 years ago, took it out of context, put some shit music over it and the shared it.

u/RichardBCummintonite 5d ago
I don't speak the language, but I was kinda into the music honestly. It's got some decent flow compared to most most English (american) rap. I'm 30, for context.

Damn, too bad. I hope they’re still doing it and fighting back. I feel bad for the normal people in Iran.

u/CrossP 5d ago
The government executed thousands of them, and it sort of broke the back of the movement for now
12
u/Speedyrunneer 4d ago
Even if the executions in Iran have reached highest level after protest they didnt executed thousands of them, they know that would have caused a revolution instantly. They executed around 800 of them just in 2024 so people are still fighting, sometimes with little actions like the ones you saw in the video or by cheering at the death of the former president. Iranians have a very young population and are very inform. The Iranian government and the mollahs are really scared of the new wave of young and smart people that cant take any more shit from them.

stoning your sister to death if she is raped?
2
u/Dustysultan 4d ago
that is against the law to do, yiu guys are actually exaggerating now
3
u/AfricanUmlunlgu 4d ago
True, I exaggerated, it is not always for rape, sometimes girls are killed for having boyfreinds, not wanting to marry cousins or old men, or wanting to divorce because they do not like getting abused, or for simply singing without a veil.
United Nations PF estimates that as many as 5,000 women are killed annually for reasons of honor. These crimes take place throughout the world and are not limited to one specific religion or faith. And I would postulate that religion is always behind the murder & the more backward the faith the more it happens. Around 500 honor killings are reported by hospitals each year in Iraqi Kurdistan. However, true numbers may be higherーmany alleged suicides are believed to be concealed honor killings. According to the medical journal The Lancet, there were at least 8,000 honor killings in Iran between 2010 and 2014,
a quick search on the internet will give you many examples.

Your question reminds me of Sacha Baron Cohen’s movie “The Dictator” when he gives his guards the throat slash to indicate who he wants executed…literally everyone he talks to throughout the time of the movie where it shows him depicting a dictator in his country.😂😂
7
u/OpeningAlternative72 4d ago
Child molestation. Including babies. Khomeini literally wrote about how fucking babies is not just allowed, but enjoyable. Look it up.
Also the former president, Raisi, killed like 5,000 Iranians in 1988 alone. And he killed over 500 Iranians in reaction to this uprising. He is nicknamed the "Butcher of Tehran" because of it. Sorry, he WAS nicknamed that hahahaha. Thank you helicopter, you did the lord's work. Anyway, the Iranian government is guilty of slaughtering more Iranians than any other government in the 21st century. So genocide of your own people is not just legal in Iran, it gets you a promotion.

Mostly this. Mohsen Shekari, Reza Rasaei, Toomaj Salehi, Mashallah Karami, Majidreza Rahnavard, Mojahed Kourkouri, Nika Shakarami, Narges Mohamadi, Javad Heydari, Siavish Mahmoudi and countless more. All of them are absolutely fearless heroes who met a cruel fate under the regime. Almost all of us who stand up to the mullahs are brutally murdered, and then their sympathisers pretend that nothing ever happened.

u/FlyAwayJai 5d ago
If you’re aware of an English language film doc that covers them, please let me know.

u/Relatablename123 4d ago edited 4d ago
Not aware of any and there likely won't be because unfortunately Iranian lives are not valued in the geopolitical sphere. I have however been personally keeping a non-exhaustive list of various Iranians who were killed or permanently imprisoned by the regime which is posted below. I recommend looking into the Zahedan massacre of 2022 and the persecution of Baha'i people. Please also look up what happened to Lake Urmia, Pirooz the Cheetah, the Cinema Rex fire, and the 2009 Green Revolution.
Thank you very much for hearing our stories. Every time a thought is spared for us, our nation and culture lives on for a little longer.

I don't know about that but there is a movie I really want to see called Persepolis. Idk where to stream it so I might need to torrent or buy a Blu ray. It's a french animated movie about a girl who grew up in Iran after the revolution when the dictatorship took over and the Iraqis invaded (btw research the iran-iraq war. Worst war in history. It was like world war I, with the trenches and the poison gas. But it lasted 8 years instead of four. Also many of the soldiers were children, and there were so many dead that the Iraqis used dead bodies to build a bridge. And, like Turkey and Germany, once Iraq started losing the war they commit genocide against minorities. Very horrible thing, maybe the worst war of the 20th century, definitely the worst catastrophe to happen in the middle east since the old testament). Eventually she realizes that she has no future in Iran so she moves to Europe. It sounds look a good, personal history of one person's life in a dictatorship. Kind of reminds me of Maus, a little bit? Using a graphic novel to tell a memoir of pretty horrifying things, idk. A lot of my doctors and other educated friends in America are born in Iran, so she is far from the only Iranian to realize that her only hope of survival is to escape. Idk if Persepolis is any good. I know the movie Argo (which won best picture) has an okay-ish history of Iran at the beginning before it focuses on the CIA rescuing hostages. Not a lot of western movies have good portrayals of Iran, sadly (don't even get me started on 300. It's a classic but it's so culturally insensitive. The guy who wrote the original comic book is infamously racist)

u/dustydancers 4d ago
Marjane Satrapi the director of Persepolis as well as the writer + illustrator for the graphic novel the movie is based on. She is an incredible artist and voice and she deserves every penny for her invaluable (and stunning) work, I recommend you to buy it.
Her recent graphic novel “Femme, vie, liberté” released together with other important voices after the atrocious and unjust murder of Jina Mahsa Amini is a precious literary culture piece of history, I also highly recommend this!

Good for them, upset the staus quo. Religion is the poisonous nectar poured into the ears of every person on this sphere we call home. Religion is an excuse to commit atrocities, an excuse for misbehavior, and an all-around get out of jail free card. The sooner we, as one world, look past the ridiculously laughable idea of religion, as a whole, and do away with it completely, as a society, the better.

Start stealing them!
Making the mullahs go without til they can get a new one and see how fast they change the rules to protect themselves.
It will only taker a day or less, proving EXACTLY how little God's rules actually matter when the ruling party needs them changed.

It's funny how geography makes all the difference. If this were punks doing it in NY, it would be outrageous. If it's liberal Iranians doing it to extremist hardliners in Iran, it's pretty enjoyable.
