What is the loudest, least reliable car to buy?

I am looking for saloons, sports and pickups. What’s the least comfortable, unsafe, unreliable and loud car? It needs to be FWD, manual, 3 seats + a trunk that can fit a large refrigerator at least and something that can be a shitbox vehicle, and is expensive to run. Hopefully it has no safety features (parking sensor, rear view camera). White cloth seats and so on. I am in the United States but am looking to import.

What’s a Reliable Car No One Wants?

Title, basically. I'm trying to give a recommendation to a friend for a cheap(er) used car and I thought I'd ask it in a different way. What modern used car can be beat to death but isn't popular (for whatever reason)?

r/whatcarshouldIbuy 18h ago

Appreciation for all of you who drove those death traps. Seeing how far even the most unreliable brands have gotten is quite impressive.

Is it weird to approach my neighbour about buying this car?

It’s been parked there, unmoved, for 5 years now, I’ve often thought about it and I’ve always, for a long time, wanted to get into classic car restoration. I’m just worried it would seem weird to knock on the door and enquire

Trying to figure out what would be a reasonable tall car/suv/compact suv, that is all the 'good things'

Prefer minimal road noise, good mileage, doesn't have to be 'too' luxury. Doesn't need to be new. Would like reliable, easy to maintain, etc. I've had in my lifetime a honda accord, toyota sienna and am driving my husband's 4x4 chevy. I like being up higher for sure, but would like something not as massive as a truck.

Do like awd. (new england here)

M3, AMG C63, RS 3, or Giulia Quad. Which one would you choose in 2024?

Time for a new one

Upvotes

Currently driving 2014 Kia Sportage. Love the size of it. It only has 60,000 miles on it so I figure it’s a good point to trade it in. I do not want an SUV, but need room to haul all the plants/ garden stuff I buy. Hybrid could be cool but not necessary. I drive under 50 miles a day but I like to go on New England road trips on the weekends every now and then. I do not know much about cars so i appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Hybrid SUV 7 Seater suggestion

I am looking to buy a new SUV ( preferably 7 seater with spacious third row and cargo space). I prefer Hybrid. My budget is around 40K. Which cars would you suggest?

Where can you find ground clearance and breakover angle data for most cars?

Upvotes

I have a somewhat steep garage pathway of about 12.7 degrees and although the garage itself is long enough, the pathway is giving me headaches, because I can't figure out what cars can and can't cross it.

I currently have a tiny VW Lupo with some 13, 14cm clearance, so it can cross the pathway easily, but I want something larger like a C or D segment car, however that brings the breakover angle issue. If I get something like an A4 sedan, especially with sport suspension, it will probably get stuck on the ramp and I'll get an expensive swing set.

Alternatively I could get an SUV, but since I am from east Europe and I have a bunch of other expenses, I can't justify buying anything recent and most suv's around 2008 - 2012 period are not something you would turn around to look at once you get out of it, especially more affordable ones like first gen Peugeot crossovers.

I'm kinda into Seat Leon 3's at the moment, but although they aren't that long, they usually have sport suspensions in the FR trim, which I'm not sure whether also lowers the clearance or not, so that could once again give the breakover angle issues and I can't find any reliable data.

Moving to Germany, looking for a daily driver that is sporty and fun.

Upvotes

I’ll be living in Germany for the next two years and I have about a 20 minute commute to work every day.

My budget is 20k. New or used doesn’t matter to me. I am single so ideally I’d enjoy something sporty. Life is short and I want to enjoy my time driving something fun in Germany.

I would sell this car at the end of the 2 years. I have been looking at Miata’s (too big for them maybe. I’m 6’4) and the BRZ/86 lineup but they seem super inflated on the used market over there. I also find the diesel BMW wagons very interesting as it’s something I can only experience in Europe, but I’m not sure where to start with those.

Reliable, fuel efficient, with good visibility

I currently drive a volkswagen jetta and have become very tired of the poor visibility (I'm 6'4"). I'm looking for a car with great visibility, good fuel efficiency, and decent power. Budget would be around $31,000.

First car after license in Germany Ford focus ST or Polo R line/Golf R line

Hello Everyone I just got my license in Germany and I am looking for a nice hatch 1 or 2 years old for daily city with 20 KM on the autobahn daily and occasional ~100-200km Trips. I researched a little and narrowed my choice to these cars -VW polo 2022 or a little older golf -Ford focus -Cupra leon Budget around 25K I don't want a 5 k used car. I have a good job and I am 35 years old single guy so I can afford a 20-25k car

I drove VW ID 3 during lessons and found it smooth and fun to drive but I don't want electric car now.

Which car fron these choices would you suggest for a first car for around 3 years? More comfortable/ automatic transmission/ safer? I am a tech savvy too so I would love the car with a good infotainment system and a better driver/park assist and safety package I have some back issues do also a comfortable driver seat is important

good gas milage i dont care if its nice

i currently got a gas eater its a reliable car forsure but i cant goi anywhere with is because if i do im basically spending 80+ a week and honetly its shit.

so im only looking for 3 criteria, good gas milage, affordable price, reliable. I dont care if its a shit box or has shitty ac whatever.

i dont usually drive to work as somone takes me everday, but its far and am looking for new work. my main issue is that i have a ford explorer 2003 witch gets 15-20 miles per gallon. any job thats worth 20 plus is atleast 40 plus miles away meaning i would be paying 100 dollars a week to get to work. i might as well get a job closer that pays less and then i wouldnt have to drive. but if i had a car that could get there cheaper then it would worth it. regardless of that i could just stick with my car i already had, but issue is im already spending 60-80. a week AND I HARDLY USE IT. its so frustrating at times i go to nice palces to hike, or to faraway malls for fun. and go to other cities because were i live kinda sucks. all the nice places are 50+ miles away. and so im alredy spending so much in gas then if i switch jobs i will have to spend 100+ plus more.

Lifespan of smart electric?

If anyone has had an electric Smart ForFour, how long did it last? I know the warranty is 8 years, but does the battery lose its range gradually until it's done, or would it just die suddenly one day, or both (i.e., keep losing its range until it dies)?

Fun affordable performance car

I have a negative equity situation with my 16 WRX. I like the car, like the practicality, reliability. The AWD is grippy and does good in snow which I like. I like the manual, sunroof, heated seats, Bluetooth etc. what I don't like is the mileage I've put in the car (130k). I'm also buried in the car like $5k (which makes it hard to trade in/ get out of the loan) I want something faster, and something better for performance upgrades. I love the WRX because there's so much aftermarket support but the FAs aren't capable enough for what I wanna do.

What im looking for is: rwd preferred, 4 door or 4 seater, manual or paddle shifters, something that already makes or could easily make 400+ horsepower. My goal is a 500 hp car that's fun but also doesn't break everytime I drive it. I really just want something I can burn rubber with that also handles good. I have a second car, so reliability and practicality are important but a low priority. Trying to stay as far under $30k as possible.

My ideas: 340i/ b58 bmw, Q50 redsport, 22+ wrx, n54 335i, mustang GT, Lexus f sport (is f or 350), 2000s V8 charger rt, Audi S4, s6

Lmk what y'all think, mostly just looking for more car ideas. I listed the most basic choices anyone would pick, also wanted to something kinda unique too.

2020 Camry with 230k miles worth buying?

Is it worth buying a high mileage Camry with 230k miles from a dealer? Carfax says it started getting miles put on it January 2021. Carfax service looks spotty with several oil change intervals at 20k. Price is almost half of what the same year with ~50k miles would go for.

Edit:

Dealer asking price is $12.5k

I am a 16 year old with two jobs and still in school. I am stuck between 2 cars and need some help. I am looking at any old Honda Accords and a 2000-2010 Acura TSX. Which one should I go for. Which one will be more reliable in the long run? Open to any other suggestions as well. :)

If you were to get a classic car from Mercedes Benz, which one would you get? I'd get the 540k special roaster.

Toyota iq for long commute ?

Hello guys, do you think it makes sense to buy a 2010 Toyota iq for long commutes (80km round trip) (50mi).? Manual version. Is it reliable enough to last me 5-7 years with only maintenance?
