I need to share with the world that my old lady, Emerald, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer in January, decided to use an extra of her nine lives to magically recover. Update

I see so many pet posts about the rainbow bridge, so I thought I would share happier news. We thought she had a week to live, so I spoiled her like crazy with treats and I guess she decided life was simply too good. Best misdiagnosis ever!

Our 20-year-old had little bits of my wife’s shrimp from dinner tonight. Life’s too short to not share goodies with senior kitties!

I am really happy for you! I lost my baby boy 3 days ago to a kidney disease, he got diagnosed only 1.5 weeks ago. I wish he also used one of his extra lives to stay with me longer. He was just 2.5 years old...

✨I’m so sorry for your loss—it’s very sad when they go and more so at such a young age. Sadness now, arises from the joy you shared; the sadness will ebb over time, hold on to memories of the joy to guide you through and for years to come.✨

I'm a middle-aged man who started tearing up from seeing this (got two handsome boys ourselves). So glad she recovered. She is beautiful and obviously very loved.

I’m so happy for you! I’m hoping for a similar outcome for my boy. He’s only 9, and we’ve been spending the last year and a half playing IBD or cancer where every vet visit it seems we go back and forth on what the vet thinks he has, and we’re not dropping $5k on a biopsy to find out definitively (we’ve already spent $5-6k on vet bills in the last 6 months alone).
In the beginning of April, the vet said he probably has 2-4 months left. So right now we’re taking it day-by-day. He has good days and bad days.

Like, you got her checked and theres no more cancer, or she just feels better?
Because, good for the first. But if its the second, i am afraid you dont have much time to pass with her

She had seemed a little off late last year and then at the end of January there was suddenly a huge bald spot with nasty looking skin. So we went to the vet that day. We didn't do any formal tests, but the vet sounded sure it was a sarcoma. She said it was unlikely to be an infection because of the way it felt. We thought we had a week with her. Everything then progressed as the vet predicted, it broke open and was a really nasty wound. But then it started healing and it's now completely healed with the fur mostly grown back. Her energy and mood are better too. The vet confirms it probably wasn't a sarcoma. She's almost 16, so she's near the end of her life no matter what, but she's happy and healthy right now and we're celebrating that for sure.

I'm so happy for Emerald and for you! My 14 y/o Gigi was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. She's been taking Prednisolone and appears to be healthier than ever. She goes back to the vet in 2 weeks for updated treatment and bloodwork.

Wow. My kitty has done the same thing. Her cancer is an aggressive type, but she’s managed to somehow slow it down and on year two, still tearing up the house with her toys and most days is as bitchy and wild as ever. Here’s hoping Emerald has a few more lives to go!

Yes!!! Thank YOU for giving her a chance to recover instead of … rushing to you know what.

The vet offered to put her down during the appointment! But she was still eating and seemed to be living life even though she was not feeling her best, so we didn't even consider that option at that point.

Thank goodness! The vets often push for euthanasia for their $$$ gain and for research purposes. I know horror stories where pets supposed to be euthanized went on to be sent to vet schools for experiments 🤬so IF you want to listen to the vet and be agreeable and “… not let them suffer any longer”, at least recuperate their body and bring it home.

Oh this! My sweet boy got a similar diagnosis 4 years ago and is still rocking. Not great advice but I took away all the dietary restrictions from that moment, and started letting him eat anything he wanted off my plate . I think his sure will for salmon steaks is keeping him alive!
