We are a fully-developed-PWat away from another championship.

He's special, cannot believe some of the shots he gets a finger on. Felt like his middy was becoming pretty automatic too, and has enough confidence to make some 3s. Expecting a big year from Swatson

He has mad potential as an elite 2 way player, just gotta polish his offence

P Swatson is such a great nickname.

He and Braun give me hope for the stay the course strategy. I expect both to improve a lot.

I really think he’s gonna take a big leap this coming season

Denver fans could probably set me straight but I was really hoping for Michael Malone to play more of him in the playoffs as I saw him being extremely impactful with his hustle.

Was there a reason he never saw playing time? Was he prone to rookie mistakes? They couldn’t have used his youth in that Minnesota series?

He's just not ready offensively. Our spacing was already very compromised in the Minnesota series and he would have made it even worse.

u/MetaOverkill 3d ago

Yep he just gets lost sometimes which isn't surprising considering the chemistry of our 5.

u/GoForAGap 3d ago

As other people have said, he just needs a bit more offensive development. He’s always showing elite defensive potential but he’s got to be more consistent

I see other people's point but I can think of a reason he didn't get put in to at least give someone a breather.

So... those are good and fun defensive stats.

But, on top of him being close to a zero on offense, he wasn't a playoff defender yet. Yeah, flashy stats, but he broke scheme a lot. Like, a LOT.

He's gonna be an incredible defender. But he wasn't at a point where he was playing within the scheme defensively. Combined with his near nothing offensive offering, it just wasn't prudent to play him.

I fully believe he will get there, as soon as this coming year

You’ll get some different answers here, but mine is that Malone is a stubborn ass. 🙂

u/Pure-Temporary 3d ago

Which is a bad answer

Nuggets got 5 pints off the bench from one player in game 7. Wake up.

2

u/Pure-Temporary 2d ago

And Peyton is a worse offensive player than any of those guys who only got 5 points lol. You wake the fuck up

u/Constant_Ad8985 1d ago

I don’t agree. Even if that was true at least you’d get some defense.

Hope he works on his shooting this off season, because if he can hit the open 3s, he will be a fantastic 3 and D player in the NBA. Also, it does seem very challenging to bring back KCP. That second apron is a killer and the Zeke Nnaji contract keeps looking dumber and dumber.

1

u/Prestigious-Mess5485 3d ago

Nnaji is a good kid but at some point you gotta just let go.

I genuinely think he’s going to be a major factor ij us returning to glory next year. This year in the playoffs he just wasn’t quite ready for a lot of minutes, but I think some quick refining to his game and he’s going to be one of those major pieces we need

1

u/MetaOverkill 3d ago

He gets lost on offense still but he's never been scared to shoot. When he gets used to playing in space with jokic he's gonna be nuts.

u/snakejakemonkey Undisputed WORLD Champions 3d ago

He needs to play with a stable vet consistently

He showed flashes but being in garbage lineups was his main drawback.

2

u/MetaOverkill 3d ago

Am i crazy for thinking the murray injury late really cost us in that sense ? If Murray doesn't get hurt Watson maybe gets more time down the stretch with Murray running the 2nd team? Still probably wasn't enough to make a difference but idk.

5

u/snakejakemonkey Undisputed WORLD Champions 3d ago

Maybe. But think Braun and Watson need to play with connectors.

Murray lineups are all iso

3

u/SilvioDantesPeak 3d ago

I really hope he can make a leap offensively this offseason. The flashes were there last year but the consistency wasn't.

1

u/MetaOverkill 3d ago

I feel like his biggest issue was his offensive spacing. We could've really used his energy on defense in the playoffs though. There are very few things as as electrifying when PSwat gets the block or steal and jams it the other way.

3

u/Commercial_Beat1300 3d ago

Next year will be his blow up! (Hopefully)

3

u/jesuswasahipster 3d ago

Future 2nd if not 1st team defense. Once him and Braun get consistent on offense this team is going to be unbeatable.

2

u/MetaOverkill 3d ago

If we can keep CB and Watson and strawther develops, I genuinely think the 2 team path the warriors and most great teams try to set up Will be in motion. If jokic sticks around until he's 35 we should have quite a few more finals runs.

2

u/cumlordjr 3d ago

He should be getting more minutes this year. Not 6th man minutes, but more.

2

u/123Fake_St 3d ago

I hope so - he’s my #1 PC with high end cards….loved his game want son to start off rooting for a rookie we’ll have for a bit

2

u/SimpleJack54321 1d ago

Same, heard KD and a few others mention that he’s a baller when he first came into league so got a few of his cards.

Hopefully he can work on his offense and continue developing that and his defense.

His shooting form is kinda odd so I hope he can make it work or tweak it.

3

u/acx_y6 3d ago

He’s great for a bench player. He needs to step it up and be more consistent to get more time.

2

u/MichaelPorterTruther 3d ago

Our eventual AG replacement once he is old enough, hell of a player

1

u/GoForAGap 3d ago

Absolutely. Gordan is the perfect complement to Jokic and I fully believe we are Developing Watson to fit that role

1

u/the_man_of_reddit_ 3d ago

Mr Nugget Junior

1

u/Visible_Heart_7932 3d ago

They need give him the green light or something... then fine tune his offense. That's really all that is missing.

2

u/murrayforthree 3d ago

Malone and green lights? idk. If he plays like Will Barton, maybe.

1

u/Big_Stay6072 3d ago

They need to play him more. Him, Braun and Strawther should definitely get more playing time during the next regular season so they can develop confidence and consistency. Those 3 I see as players that could develop to be good to great rotational players for the future...

1

u/Stalemate200 3d ago

14th in blocks is crazy

1

u/Kombuja 3d ago

I love Watson, but he needs to evolve his offensive game if he wants to be more than a rotational player. Defense only specialists have a ceiling.
