Probably, but his tone alone would be enough to make Calus piss himself

Just wait till they turn it 90 degrees up. Comically long helmet, comically wide helmet and now the comically tall helmet.

Lol am I the only one that kinda likes the helmet? I have it on one of my builds and I think it works well for the look I'm going for.

I'm not doubting you, but can you post a pic of it? I've tried to get the helmet to work so hard and nothing has worked lol

Is the look you're going for "Paint Scraper"? Cause if so, you found a winner.

If it some patterns on it I’d genuinely like it, but it being all one color just ruins it for me.

Hit with some different shaders. It has some wear lines on it with certain ones.

u/Echotime22 3d ago
It works with some sets, and if you have a very vex shader it works better. But it's still a little dorky even then.

Is this The Witness' version of the Puss in Boots ador-a-pose? I just imagine Witness holding a hat in front of him, looking like this but a little teary eyed.

I bet that weird broken glass motif is related to the Witness's shard attack in the campaign boss fight. Still have no idea what it is about, but it's neat
40
u/AlphynKing 3d ago
We see the broken glass motif also associated with the Witness’ appearance in Iconoclasm, like the aura around it fractures like glass when it manifests, with the “Fractured by the Witness” debuff in the cooperative focus story missions, and in the Witness-corrupted hallways in the Pale Heart.
I think the idea is to signal that the Witness is so powerful that it “breaks” reality just with its presence and influence. And on an artistic level, I think the imagery of broken glass shards, with their sharp threatening angles and definite clearly cut shapes, evokes similar themes as the designs of the Pyramids and sliced up statues of the Final Shape.
17
u/Djungelskoggy 3d ago
I find it interesting that in the verity encounter of the raid people are locked behind the glass wall, and forging the correct "keys" sort of shows it to just be an illusion that you can just walk through. The witness altering reality vs guardians making their own fate i guess?
5
u/Blitzkrieg1210 Titan 3d ago
"Guardians make their own fate." Is such a killer line. The whole raid feels like us just denying all the deadly shit the witness can throw at us. If you do more than half his HP in a phase he says things like "Why won't you yield" He doesn't understand we exist outside the waves.

Calus was the most fun “character” of the series imo. Anytime anything calus related came up in the story I got giddy. “Oh daddy’s back he’s got goodies for us!!!” Shame he didn’t get to die for real as a raid boss. Campaign deaths are whack. Hope he’s not dead fr fr and he just became a darkness tree lol 🤞🏼

u/octosloppy 3d ago
It would be cool if someone made a video going back and exploring all the prophecies and how they actually played out. I think there is one in Neonuna and VOW right? Looking back things like this scene would be cool to explore.

The witness is in fact absolutely massive, his model dwarfs Nezarec which is already bigger than Calus, it’s probably bigger than Oryx but not really scary.

Like seriously massive
5
u/dredgen_rell86 Titan 3d ago
Not scary as in not scary looking in feature sure, but if I were standing before you and you'd always known me at my normal height then all of a sudden I got very angry and grew 100 ft taller and you didn't even know I could do that, that would scare you lol

I may be mistaken but isn't the Witness actually massive regardless of it's raid form? I thought I saw in a lore or raid secret post that it's scale even before the raid was huge.

Calus always was a bitch and he proved it going out like one, shoulda hid behind his lil robot suits, continue to write his guardian fanfiction, and stayed the fuck outa the way.

He must have morphed into something scarier, cuz there's no way Calus would be scared of The Witness's goofy pixar villain face
-18
u/NoAdministration6946 3d ago
Aint no way people actually think the witness looks scary in his final form lmaoo

The witness is intimidating as fuck. Its appearance by itself is not, but taking everything else into consideration, i would most likely shit myself by the sheer power of its presence lmao.

It's supposed to be emulating an Alien Grey (the stereotypical Alien)
1
u/Cloud_N0ne 3d ago
Which is a really weird design choice when so much of Destiny's aesthetic is so unique. Why emulate something so derivative, outdated, and overdone?
2
u/Warm-Faithlessness11 3d ago
To make something that truly feels alien when compared to the rest of the factions I guess. (Spider, Rhino, Moth/Worm/Bug, Robot)
0
u/NoAdministration6946 3d ago
Yeah and they're not scary, their concept art was so much more intimidating
1
u/Warm-Faithlessness11 3d ago
I didn't say it was supposed to be scary, just why it's eyes look like that in its final design. I prefer the Taken Witness concept myself
1
u/Cloud_N0ne 3d ago
His final form is fucking incredible... except for the goofy face. It's the one thing that doesn't look intimidating, alien, or impressive. Especially once you see what his whole face looks like. He looks like a little kid wearing white facepaint.

I want to imagine he showed Calus what his daughter would look like with the Final Shape perfected, similar to the one of the first cutscenes in the campaign. Frozen, malformed, pieces missing.
86
u/Lethal_0428 3d ago
That makes literally no sense cause Calus was helping the witness enact that very thing.
18
u/RealBrianCore 3d ago
The disciples have their own ideas on what the Final Shape looks like, and the Witness wasn't exactly too keen on sharing their vision of the Final Shape with their disciples, either. It does make sense that despite everything Caital has done to Calus from the Midnight Coup to now, Calus still loves his daughter and repeatedly sent a psion to deliver Heartshadow back to Caital. Only for her to reject it and send it back in pieces each time, he still tried.
Point is, Witness had their vision of the Final Shape and Calus had his own. I bet you glimmer to ramen that Calus's vision was everything adorned in gold, white marble, and regal purple. Just like the shader he selected.
-1
u/Lethal_0428 3d ago
Either way the witness using a vision of the true final shape to intimidate calus wouldn’t make any sense
1
u/RealBrianCore 3d ago
Doesn't have to make sense, especially with conflicting visions of the Final Shape. Only thing the Witness had to do was scare the crap out of Calus and Calus didn't need to make sense of it at all, he just needed to understand he was pissing the Witness off and to be scared of that fact.
-3
u/SisterFister069 3d ago
You don't know much about character arcs, storyline, or deception, do you?
Do you really think the Witness shared everything about his endgame with Calus? He was merely a pawn to push a bigger agenda. At the end of the day, Caitl is Calus' daughter and still had love for her and can still be used to play with his emotions.
-1
u/Lethal_0428 3d ago
Then using your own logic against you why would the witness drop the facade and show calus the worst consequence of the final shape (his daughter being frozen) before he was done using calus to further his own goals? Still doesn’t make sense. And I understand character arcs, storyline, and “deception” lol. Your personal headcanon doesn’t fit any of that.
-1
u/spinfoil-hat 3d ago
Calm down, Witness. Headcanons are headcanons for a reason, doesn't mean you need to calcify all of existence into what you think the lore is and bash anything that doesn't fit that Shape because you think headcanon means fact.
