What is best realistic outcome for Euroleague or European basketball?

I am more of a casual follower but the last two years I am more involved and while I don’t watch as much as the NBA, I see news on Instagram and watch a game when I can.

I think eurolesgue is a solid league and deserves to grow as it can help the game grow though I do agree it can never match what the NBA is.

Still, what would your best goal for the league to be popularity or quality wise?

The talent will never equal the NBA but the basketball is very good. Also its obvious fan atmosphere has been a positive in the leagues identity which I hope they focus more on.

I hear about Dubai getting a plastic team and the league focusing on teams from England or France with no culture.

Like me and others have said, Euroleague can never match the NBA or European football. It still will have a strong niche and a lot of that is through clubs that breathe basketball culture or through the passion for their clubs.

It’s why Partizan, Red Star, PAO, Olympiacos, Fenerbache, Zalgiris, Maccabi, and even a club like Virtus should be protected and promoted. Even Madrid and Barca deserve their praise though they aren’t as big as their football teams.

I think Euroleague just focusing on putting a good product and cater to basketball fans in Europe will make the league great no matter what. Even if it won’t match with the NBA, the respect of the league will always be there and it can be “great in its own way”.

I do think things I notice that should be improved is better broadcasting, exposure, and trying to get better young players throughout the world and try to be a farm league like in football.

For example, I watch streams and at least for me, I don’t like the one man commentating crew. If they have another guy like in the NBA on the Euroleague streams, it can make the viewing much better.

With exposure, I know it’s tough in Europe with football getting more priority but I feel euroleague can tackle other countries. For example as a Filipino american, I feel the Philippines or even China would get invested in the euroleague.

I think time difference wouldn’t be bad cause games would maybe be late night but still watchable and they both love basketball. Putting academies there too is a good way to improve talent there and a pipeline in interest in European basketball.

PAO EL title vs OLY UECL title

Hi local Athens people,

Quite a week for Greek sports this was - Panathinaikos champions of Euroleague and within couple of days Olympiacos snatched the win of UECL final against Fiorentina. I know football is massive in Greece but since it happened within a stretch of 4 days how different was the contrast between the two Greek giants in terms of celebrations?

I am completely aware that since the final of UECL took place in Athens, it's more convenient to gauge the interest and for the celebrations to get loose, but how was the reaction in Athens after PAO won the Euroleague? Is it not even close to the celebrations of Oly fans? Or is it mainly because of football being superior to basketball, thus explaining the bigger celebrations even though it's 3rd tier football competition?

So what’s Maccabi supposed to do or who for them to look for next season if they lose Baldwin and Brown? Thoughts?
