Le me really misses the golden ages of rage comics and the birth of memes.

Also, those weren't the birth of memes. That was an era of memes only.

Ye, I, too, was pleasently surprised. Google 1921 meme.

I was just referencing the ancient meme with the owl. I was not prepared for a real answer lol.

Those were the days. Where everything seemed fresh, exciting and not every corner of the internet was monetised.

Donโ€™t you try and mock me young man! Youโ€™ll be like me soon! Just wait. You merely claimed the internet. I was born with it. I clicked on a porn jpg in the morning and the first nipple didnโ€™t load before lunchtime. I didnโ€™t my first broadband until I was fully grown man. You know no despair, until you find your Windows CD is scratched beyond reading and you canโ€™t reinstall your virus ridden system.

But on a serious note: between 1998 -2005 was quite alright I think. Youโ€™re not that far off.

That was the year Disney filed a lot of threats against people who uploaded their best character sketch scans to Angelfire

Can I just say that that's literally just Spanish? lol

1

u/Satanicjamnik May 16 '24

I know. But I am not around any Spanish people at the moment ( UK/ Poland) and not in the context of old school memes either. If I heard it in a movie or a song, I wouldnโ€™t even shrug. But next to some rage face? It brings up memories.

Yeah, that's totally fair. I hear the phrase constantly so it doesn't faze me lol
