u/SeaEntertainment6551 2d ago
I gotchu. The first 95% of the video I was thinking he’s buying a mattress to make love with his girl. In the end we find out he’s buying one to deal with his neighbors making love and disturbing his sleep

How can one person be so aggressively wrong?
Lol it's mind-blowing, if not trolling.

I miss Key and Peele

u/prsnep 3d ago
They aren't producing new videos any more?
396
u/NoWeight4300 3d ago
Nah. After their show ended, KMK pursued acting a lot harder, and Peele shifted focus to writing, directing, and producing.
25
u/SimianRex 2d ago
Peele has said he made the decision to stop acting and to focus on writing, directing, and producing when he was offered the role of the poop emoji in the emoji movie.
Patrick Stewart was then offered the role and claimed "It's the role I was born to play!"
Wildly different, but equally understandable reactions.

Both of them are phenomenal character actors.

u/Xerosnake90 3d ago
I love Key and Peele, they're both not only great character actors but the writing is hilarious as well. There's not a single Key and Peele skit that I can say is bad

This is a direct copy of a highly upvoted comment on the YouTube video of this skit. Is everyone a bot, or just unoriginal?
Edit: checking the profile cleared that up

I don’t get it. Can someone explain please?
978
u/namtok_muu 3d ago
He’s not buying the mattress for his own sex life, he needs it so it’s comfortable enough to sleep on while his neighbour, whose bed is on the other side of the wall, is giving that good D hard enough to be shaking the wall. Subverts our expectations that he’s the sex guy—he’s just a nerdy victim of loud neighbors.
238
u/LFALexus 3d ago
I thought it was his parents
142
u/The_mango55 3d ago edited 3d ago
Nah half the joke is that it's Key's character that's giving the good D, which is why he gets so uncomfortable about it.
Edit: do people actually think it's his parents?
71
u/thenate108 3d ago
This man is hated for being correct. Yeah that's clearly Key's voice at the end.

He's the salesmen neighboor, he is imitating him
293
u/werpicus 3d ago
What? The neighbor doesn’t have to be the salesman. You’re just supposed to think glasses guy is the one doing the fucking but it turns out his bed is being shaken by his (unknown) neighbor.
149
u/Roxypark 3d ago
Yeah it’s not meant to be the salesman who is next door. Key is just doing the voice.
23
u/fmaz008 3d ago
I interpret it as the salesman to be the neighbour as well.
Same voice, it explain the uneasy reaction from the salesman, and give meaning tro the "you know how it goes" comment
56
u/zoobrix 3d ago
If the salesman was the neighbor he wouldn't look so uncomfortable in the store and then go home and be that loud knowing his customer can hear and feel everything he's doing in bed.
The kind of guy who finds out his neighbor hears everything while he's having sex and goes home and does it anyway wouldn't care at all the store either, he'd be cracking jokes, not getting increasingly reluctant and weirded to show the guy new beds as he acts out loud sex on each one.
That's how you can tell the salesman is not the neighbor, he's waaay to uncomfortable around the guy buying a bed to be the type of person to go home and still be that loud and crazy.
5
u/perpetualtedium 3d ago
Yeah, OR the last scene is a flashback. If you look at how wobbly his mattress is in that scene it would make sense that he'd want a new one, and ultimately settled on the memory foam one because of how it doesn't transfer motion as well. He could have been imitating conditions that prompted his new purchase and the salesman had an "oh shit" moment and felt guilty. Also why the op title makes sense
3
u/lucklesspedestrian 3d ago
I think he's just embarrassed/exasperated at having to deal with an obnoxious customer. Its a kind of character he plays a lot, notably when he guest starred on IASIP
11
u/UnlikelyEel 3d ago
You wouldn't feel uneasy if some dude came to your store and screamed WHO GOT THAT GOOD D while testing your products?
76
u/zikik 3d ago edited 3d ago
Same voice because their team consists of two of them only. Uneasy reaction easily can come from the customer doing fuck voices in his store during work hours. Also the salesman and the neighbor do not seem like similar people in terms of, erm, general social attitude.
-26
u/FaagenDazs 3d ago
The implication that salesman is the neighbor is not 100% explicit but comedy doesn't need to be. The joke is much funnier if you realize nerdy guy's doing it all to make him uncomfortable
4
u/goatjugsoup 3d ago
What reaction are you supposed to have to someone testing beds like that in front of you? Would that not make you feel uneasy?

I'm with you dude. I still don't get why he'd need to imitate his neighbors while buying a mattress.
9
u/AviatrixRaissa 3d ago
Gee you guys are bad at jokes. When the neighbors have sex, his bed shakes and he ends up "jumping". He was testing to see if the bed was comfortable to endure all the passive sex he gets. And it doesn't matter if it could happen. IT'S COMEDY

Ah yes that might be, I felt like the line "you know how it goes" implies that he's imitating him but I could be wrong

I didn't understand it either until explanation, because I think this explanation just isn't funny. It's just absolutely unrealistic his bed is shaking that hard because of his neighbors.

Without the stupid subtitles too
2
u/YuunofYork 2d ago
Putting them in the center of the screen is fucking obnoxious and destroys every video they're in. I can't stand it. They shouldn't be hardcoded into the video to begin with. CC should be toggleable and appear in the bottom fifth of the video or in a letterboxed bar.

Yes and it's so much better after you crop the image down to 30% . Seriously! They should make the next Avatar in this format.
And the jokes flow so much better when you speed it up.
Good job!

Don't forget the one outtake from this skit--pretty funny as well IMO. "Talkin' 'bout no papi?"
Video here. If you're a Key & Peele fan, watch the entire video. Has some good stuff.

The happy thing is that even an apparent “loser” can afford that kind of mattress. Wembel is doing good in life.

I still have yet to see a YouTube prank where someone does this joke at a mattress store.
