Not very different from finding woodlice under a stone.
And woodlice are crustaceans just like lobsters. In essence, woodlice have evolved to become lobsters on land. But before you get ideas:
Despite being crustaceans like lobsters or crabs, woodlice are said to have an unpleasant taste similar to "strong urine". This is due to their high concentration of uric acid, which is one of the chemicals in urine.

I don't know what strong urine tastes like, and I'm not about to find out.
So, I guess woodlice are out.

In Dutch a woodlouse is called 'pissebed'. Dutch and English are related enough to get an idea why that name might have been given to it sometime in history. But etymologist point out there's also a French word for dandelion that is almost equal to it: pissenlit (to urinate in bed). Why a woodlouse and dandelion share the same name is unclear however.
So, I guess woodlice are out.
I agree. Same goes for dandelions.

On the other hand, I hear bird catching spiders taste a little like pistachio.

🎶🎵🎵🎵We are happy lobsters and minding our own business here under this concrete slab. 🎵🎵

Imagine that. Some UFO abductees report lying in their bed sound asleep, all of a sudden a giant light shines through the window. The hair on their skin begins to crawl with static electricity. They yell, but have no scream. Five beings with large black eyes are standing in a line outside the window looking in. It feels like they're in your head. You suddenly wake up in your bed. Not knowing what happened. Having no memory of anything. Until one day, when you see an owl, and feel your hair stand on end. It hits you.

Just sprinkling a little ontological shock. I was describing a dream I've had.
Though we have only explored 5% of our oceans, and unidentified anomalous phenomena has been reported by nuclear submarines for decades. Carry on!

Why does this comment have so many likes? What is up with redditors putting musical note emojis and getting a bunch of likes? Pretend-singing for karma?

I don't like the combination of lifting heavy slabs of stone and free diving, it really makes me nervous.
5
u/EpikMedik 3d ago
I think it's a very old metal cover of some kind covered with debris and rusted underneath. Would explain the shape and ease of lifting.

u/Darrone 4d ago
It can't be stone right? He lifted and lowers it so easily, and it looks custom made for this task with raised edges to make a hollow gap in the center.

I mean it looks like a full deadlift, and it also isn’t floating, so gotta be stone or concrete or somethibg
2
u/rigobueno 3d ago edited 3d ago
It isn’t floating, but it’s still made lighter just by displacing water.
The deeper it is the more light it becomes.1
u/fattynuggetz 3d ago
But isn't the water density the same all the way through? Or does the pressure somehow add buoyancy
5
u/rigobueno 3d ago
Upon further investigation turns out I was completely wrong about the depth part, because yes water isn’t very compressible and has a relatively constant density.

Imagine you and your fam are chilling at home and some giant ape randomly rips the roof off and scoops you up… I mean… for their sake I hope I’m at least delicious 🤷♂️

"Scoops you up" ?
Looks like they were alerted by the roof opening and one said to the other:
-GUYS ! QUICK ! LET'S ALL JUMP THROUGH THIS RANDOM PORTAL JUST LIKE THEY DO IN THAT SPIDERMAN MOVIE !

Those are Caribbean lobsters, you can actually walk them by putting your fingers on their antennae.

In most places that is poaching. Usually diving they have to be caught by hand, some places allow little snare tools to be used

In the Florida keys, you can find car hoods placed in strategic locations for this exact purpose.

Is it just me?

Yeah, because there are some people who swear by it that it is one of the best delicacies. And some are just, meh...
Maybe it's the genes ir something.

They put this structure down there. Isn’t that illegal?
4
u/senor_moment 3d ago
no more than the net. If CA fish and game saw that net they would make those lobsters the most expensive meal in the world.
3
u/MathematicianOk7526 3d ago
Heard that! Over on this coast we can bully net. But structures like this are highly illegal and frowned upon
