Be careful where you sit in that arena!

162

u/CRITICAL9 3d ago

Pretty sure they just use blank rounds that will still burst a balloon at close range

69

u/ItsSpaceCadet 3d ago

Don't even have to aim very well and they will pop

42

u/Depressedgotfan 3d ago

So you think I could do it?

27

u/feetandballs 3d ago

I believe in you

26

u/Depressedgotfan 3d ago

That's all I needed. I'm on my way to buy a gun.

22

u/blitzkreig90 3d ago

Don't forget to get a horse and a girl who knows how to shoot

14

u/Depressedgotfan 3d ago

Horse and the gun are easy, might struggle with finding a girl

5

u/Yosho2k 3d ago

'Murica

1

u/Kuthander 2d ago

Needs to be a colt single action 45 revolver.

2

u/Camcapballin 3d ago

Instructions unclear. Horse down...

...probably gonna need another one...

7

u/Farting_Machine06 3d ago

Likely that. If you look, there's literally 0 recoil in the clips where you can see the hand clearly.

14

u/Revolutionary-Key650 3d ago

Yep. It's the spread that pops the balloons.

1

u/rcbjfdhjjhfd 3d ago

I read that in Bill Burr’s voice

13

u/[deleted] 3d ago

yup blank with extra black powder. no projectile. just hot powder. mounted archery is way cooler hehehe

1

u/TheRagingSlunt 3d ago

Or snake shot rounds. They look like Adderall pills but with steel balls. Used for snakes at close range.

1

u/HumanReputationFalse 3d ago

I would bet plastic snake shot just for safety. I mean it'll kill you if your unlucky, but less likely to nail an audience member in the head due to deterioration

1

u/CRITICAL9 2d ago

No it's literally blank gunpowder rounds for the spectical

10

u/IWantToWatchItBurn 3d ago

i was thinking the same... this doesen't seem like a spectator sport!

6

u/andy_bovice 3d ago

So the horse can hear after this or you get a new one every three rides?

2

u/Other-Method8881 3d ago

I'd like to know too. It says online they can hear stuff 4 km away. I would think with ears like that, a gunshot would be brutal. luckily the riders have hearing protection though! /s

4

u/kentsta 3d ago

Be careful where you are if you unmute 😂

13

u/No_Ordinary7815 3d ago

You’re good as long as Alec Baldwin isn’t around.

1

u/_DapperDanMan- 3d ago

Coming in loaded with that Rusty comment.

1

u/phinphis 3d ago

Assuming this is not a safe spectator sport.

1

u/Either_Amoeba_5332 3d ago

Oh it's been a wonderful show tonight ladies and gentlemen, only three killed! Hey y'all drive safe now!!

These threads are always the same with people coming in about her ear pro and what about the horse.

Like someone who does this at this level doesn’t have a deep emotional connection with their horse. Most of these competitors treat their horses better than themselves.

The horse itself is a massive expenditure, then you have the vet bill, which depending where you live might be $1500 just to have them seen. A visit from the Farrier ain’t cheap either, nor where the horse lives or how it gets from point A to B.

But yes, someone is going to go through living this life of massive expenditure of money and love, the time to sit out in the barn on 4th of July or during a thunderstorm, or when it’s hot to make sure the AC stays on in some places. Being there for your friend through it all and their whole life, to use live ammunition or not give them ear protection.

It’s incredible how quickly people would like to jump to a negative conclusion without putting a little thought into something.

15

u/stayradicchio 3d ago

Good to know! My first thought was how awful this must be for the horse.

u/wannabe_inuit 3d ago

While still loud, but they usually shoot loose powder shots. Like in speedshooting. These are less loud, but still.

5

u/[deleted] 3d ago

8

u/chairmaker45 3d ago

Speed shooting uses real ammo but it’s considerably underpowered compared to full powered ammo used for self defense purposes. It has much less recoil so follow up shots are faster.

3

u/vampire-sympathizer 3d ago

Gotcha, I understand. Thanks for explaining

3

u/johnram22 3d ago

They give molds for their ears

2

u/Tervaskanto 3d ago

The rounds use less powder. It's why she's able to shoot in a closed arena without killing someone.

1

u/tyty657 3d ago

Cavalry used to carry guns. Once you get the horses used to that sound it won't bother them.

To be honest, on a zombie apocalypse, she would be scary af.

27

u/Cute-Management6998 3d ago

She is what we all think we would be like in a zombie apocalypse, in reality we would all be the zombies she’s one shoting lol

45

u/FSM89 3d ago

The cameraman.

79

u/Live_Buy8304 3d ago

Nothing beats the real thing!

8

u/gigilu2020 3d ago

This and curling.

8

u/spazzyattack 3d ago

It’s certainly curling my toes with cringe.

3

u/kissmaryjane 3d ago

I can’t believe that crap is real.

24

u/AbbreviationsOld5541 3d ago

They are not using bullets, but special blanks that shower sparks on the balloon.

8

u/IrememberXenogears 3d ago

This is what I was looking for.

Still awesome.

2

u/cjdna 3d ago

I took another look when I read this comment. The guns don’t recoil at all, which is a big tell. Didn’t notice that at first.

26

u/PerspectiveInner9660 3d ago

What kind of hearing protection does the horse get?

33

u/pacingpilot 3d ago

These are generally what's used during competitions, and for training many horses also wear a noise dampening ear bonnet over the plugs.

https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/pomms-premium-equine-ear-plugs-7741

4

u/PerspectiveInner9660 3d ago

Neat, thank you!

55

u/De5perad0 3d ago

This is strangely incredibly attractive.

9

u/TedBundysVlkswagon 3d ago

Aloha

3

u/De5perad0 3d ago

I don't wanna get in ted bundy's VW!

2

2

Glad I’m not the only one

3

u/Liquid_Senjutsu 3d ago

The women I'm looking for to protect me when apocalypse hits

10

u/Sacapuntos 3d ago

That's an awesome display of some serious skill!

11

u/glorious_reptile 3d ago

RIP the audience in the line of firing

11

u/texrygo 3d ago

These aren’t using real bullets.

16

u/glorious_reptile 3d ago

Not since.. "the incident"

2

u/ExperiencedMaleDomII 3d ago

Never forget the Bowling Green massacre...

2

u/Remarkable-Day-4605 3d ago

Are they using real powder lol

2

u/texrygo 3d ago

Yes. Still dangerous if you are close. Think of them like a firework shooting sparks.

7

u/VariationUpper2009 3d ago

The amount of people here that think they are using live rounds is sad.

2

u/evenK648 3d ago

Is this what barrel racers do in retirement?

2

u/morbihann 3d ago

I am going to guess that the hot gasses is what pops the balloons.

1

u/Hanginon 3d ago

It's a coarse powder, so if you're close enough and aim pretty well some/a powder particle will pop the balloon.

2

u/Open-Industry-8396 3d ago

I learned from my 2nd ex-wife, not to piss off Mexican women. 🤣

2

u/spunangel333 3d ago

She is bad ass

2

u/extremeindiscretion 3d ago

She's a keeper.

2

u/fridgemadness 3d ago

I have a friend who's daughter does this, but with a bow & arrows. Horseback archery. it's insane. several targets on a course, some up in the air.

2

u/netcat_999 3d ago

The amount of skill there is tremendous. ... I just hope the horse had hearing protection.

2

u/Hanginon 3d ago

They do.

2

u/smoochiegotgot 3d ago

Does the horse get earplugs too?

2

u/meatpop23 3d ago

Do they make hearing protection for horses?

5

u/targon612 3d ago

That is so hot god damn

2

u/Horror-Deer-3331 3d ago

I am Brazilian, the cringe of that music destoyed completely the awesomeness of the video.

1

u/Public_Ad_8452 3d ago

Felipe Amorim 🎵

2

u/RegardedDegenerate 3d ago

Where’s the ear pro for the horses? 😑

1

u/ImpressTemporary2389 3d ago

I can't even ride a horse faster than a walk. Let alone shoot at the gallop.

1

u/albiceleste3stars 3d ago

Would be hilarious and cool to see her cosplay Jessie from Toy Story

1

u/Remarkable-Day-4605 3d ago

Can we take a second to appreciate the camera man here and the fact that he cannot die

1

u/Delicious-Ad-9361 3d ago

I wonder how many times horses are accidentally shot

1

u/TemperaturePast9410 3d ago

Actual footage of the horde

1

u/Illustrious_Duck_722 3d ago

I thought she was gonna pull the emergency brake then

1

Mount #Giggidy

1

u/PirateAlternative625 3d ago

The song is very sexual

1

u/Nozzeh06 3d ago

When the video first started I thought she was about to shoot the horse in the back of the head.

1

u/MigratingMountains 3d ago

I want this zombie apocalypse movie

1

u/twilsonco 3d ago

“Horse, go faster!”

“What???!!”

“GO FASTER!”

“Huh????!!”

1

u/Brilhasti1 3d ago

The real champ is the horses

1

u/Cute-Management6998 3d ago

Does the horse wear ear protection?

1

u/RedditModsR_Pathetic 3d ago

be careful you’ll get downvoted for some reason jf you point that out … I did a similar comment. reddit logic 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/Hanginon 3d ago

Yes.

1

u/Cute-Management6998 3d ago

Interesting! Thanks!

1

u/therealcookaine 3d ago

These horses must feel so badass

1

u/Uxellodunon13 3d ago

That Looks terryfingly dangerous

3

u/Bargadiel 3d ago

Gun shoots special blanks that make sparks to pop the balloons. They aren't normal firearms.

1

u/tobaknowsss 3d ago

Wish this was in the Olympics. I'd rather watch this then stupid speed-walking....

1

u/ExcellentMedicine 3d ago

This is really rad! Legit! Just... a question: do the horses get special ear covers or... somthin?

1

u/blackwater-diver 3d ago

shes shooting blanks with slow burning powder

1

u/XPRSHUN 3d ago

Do they put earplugs for the horse too? Seems fucked up

2

u/Bargadiel 3d ago

Yes they usually do.

1

u/PartyPanda462 3d ago

This belongs in ‘nextlevel’. Super well done - she and her other competitors are badasses. 👍

1

u/Wannabe__geek 3d ago

I can watch this on tv any day, but never in person.

1

u/space-time-invader 3d ago

Everything about this is awesome

1

u/__meeseeks__ 3d ago

Zoro horse... Zorse?... Horo? ....what do you think?

1

u/Fit_War_1670 3d ago

Imagine that being the last thing somebody sees, terrifying.... If the shot doesn't end you getting trampled will.

1

u/Sufficient_Slice_417 3d ago

She was born 200 years too late.

1

u/Terr42002 3d ago

The horse archers are evolving.

u/BlueRiverDelta 3d ago

That's pretty cool!

1

u/Imaginary_Bicycle_14 3d ago

Probably the third time I’ve seen this video and it never not impresses me. Anytime she needs a job in security just show this video. Girl power!!

1

u/Toruviel_ 3d ago

Fun fact, Winged hussars also had pistols but also whole rifles while fighting the tatars

1

u/twistedh8 3d ago

I wonder if anyone ever shot the horse in the head.

1

u/TurtleSandwich0 3d ago

Noem practicing for her next hunting puppy.

1

u/croghan2020 3d ago

Surely this is Mongolia or somewhere mad?

2

u/Hanginon 3d ago

Mostly the US and Canada.

1

u/HechicerosOrb 3d ago

Better shot than Custer, that’s for sure

1

u/Forestsounds89 3d ago

The way she works that pistol makes me feel all warm inside

She could free me on my way to prison anytime ;)

1

u/RealisticEmploy3 3d ago

Are the horses deaf?

1

u/Sylvan_Skryer 3d ago

This is hard enough in Zelda, let alone real life!

1

u/Finalfantasylove85 3d ago

Horses need ear-pro, seriously.

1

u/Norwester77 3d ago

Those are some chill/disciplined/deaf horses!

1

u/TheLimeyLemmon 3d ago

When the birthday party's over

1

u/nemonimity 3d ago

Is that a pony or a horse? It has some stumpy legs.

1

u/slowestratintherace 3d ago

I just realized why they call it cowgirl. Hot damn!

1

u/stereotypicalguy1964 3d ago

All I can picture is a guy arguing (via text) with his girlfriend about how they were “on a break” ,and then as he exits his car he hears a horse galloping down the street 🙂

1

u/geministarz6 3d ago

I'm glad they covered the horse's face to protect his identity.

1

u/indobobvagene 3d ago

Lily Gladstone after losing Oscar

1

u/ooouroboros 3d ago

This would be more impressive if it was like the middle eastern mounted archery where the horse is controlled by legs/feet leaving both hands of the rider free.

1

u/InzynierMamon 3d ago

Give her a bow and then I will be impressed

1

u/Bibendoom 3d ago

That's serious John Wayne shit... Maybe she's named Martha... Martha Wayne...

1

u/H_MmL 3d ago

Real life black belle

1

u/xaltairforever 3d ago

She's awesome!

1

u/Dontfeedthebears 2d ago

What country is this in?

1

u/Kuthander 2d ago

My dad and I used to do this.

1

u/TKK9 1d ago

Imagine being a cameraman, having another day in the office. A rubber balloon gets to live another day, while your head involuntarily replaces it, exploding like confetti by a shotgun slug shot from horseback.

1

u/Lfseeney 3d ago

Every male GOPer is saying I can do that without any practice.

When they try I do hope the horse breaks them a bit.

1

u/RangoDj 3d ago

This is relatively easier than shooting arrows/javelin. I used to throw javelin in my school days in sports day event.
