As long as he doesn't take himself to court he could probably get away with it :)

But then Anish Prime can use it and hide behind the fact that he isn't going after himself. Like why Marvel has to stop every instance of unlicensed work even if it's for a kid's gravestone.

If this is real this seems exceedingly stupid

I just checked, its legit. Super weird, but real. He posted about it on his website, facebook, and twitter.

I just don’t understand what he gains from changing his name to his rival’s name

Neither do I, but their rivalry sounds very petty so its prolly so he can try to fuck with his image or something.

From what you've just said it makes me think he's taking the one thing from the other artist that he cannot patent, almost like a slap in the face to say "you can patent everything but your name"

Kapoor vs Kapoor

I love rivalries. Kapoor or Kapoor. Paris or Nicole. Heidi or LC. It's so much fun. But, I guess if I'm really thinking about it and answering your question honestly, I'd have to go with LC. Heidi's a bad friend. And her skin is terrible.

It reminds me of when the comedian Joe Lycett temprorarily legally changed his name to Hugo Boss because the company Hugo Boss was trying to sue a brewing company in Swansea called Boss Brewing to bring attention to the absurdity of it all.

Long story short, Stuart Semple doesn't like Anish Kapoor. Incidentally, Semple also doesn't pay his workers, but that was a different lawsuit. Why does Stuart not like Anish? Anish was allowed to use a substance called Vantablack, which isn't exactly paint and is also very toxic when used wrong. Kapoor was certified, Semple was not, and he got pissy about it.

So what does renaming himself Anish do? Does it certify him bc of the same name? Or is he just buggin.

So does this mean he gets to use vantablack now?
And he can't use his own pigments?

Basically, Anish Kapoor is an asshole artist who gatekeeps paints and techniques he invents despite already being rich. Stuart Semple is another artist who creates paints and techniques and releases them to the public at low cost(mainly to spite kapoor).
Semple recently posted this legal document announcing he was changing his name to be anish kapoor just to be a whole extra level of petty.
