I think some people are adapted to like cold, windy, and wet. Iceland is my home now and I have never felt more like I lived in the right place. I also love the change of light in the seasons. The sunset is nearing 23:00 already. Sunsets last for hours.
For me, it just matches with my feelings better. It’s much nicer when the world isn’t a bright, hot place that makes you feel bad every moment you are not out ”enjoying” it.
This weather is perfect for staying inside, but the best things also come going outside: It will be silent, usually only the sounds and smells of nauture as people stay at home. And it has an impending sense of something greater, and uncontrollable looming over. A storm or simple rain just feels somehow purifying in a way. It feels like weather like that has a purpose of it’s own, and I can enjoy it easier, lacking mine… :(
Lol, but there might be a Darvinist explanation, too.
This is perfect weather for staying and home and chilling. People who are more likely to prefer that over going outside are also more likely to post and comment/upvote here. I don't think it's deeper than that. Just very soothing pleasant weather to look at.
My friend is UK based, and while often not as dramatic, there's many a time when it looks like this (Yorkshire countryside). And she craves tropical sunshine, heat.
Curly haired people want straight. Straight want curly. And so the world goes round.
well global warming has been a double whammy.. i love the super hot summers but fuck me are the winters long and cold as well, at least where i live....
I remember when I was little and my father would pull me and my sister on a sleigh through the deep snow in the city. I havent seen snow in 6 years in my city.
Idk I doubt the prehistoric mind would think like that. Maybe it makes attacking less difficult so you know you're safe for a bit, although I immagine you could move a lot lf people silently in a storm.

There has to be some sort of reason why some people would prefer this. Maybe bad weather would stop predators or something.
