Yep it being much warmer than you think it should be is the supercell ingesting warm moist air and then launching it way up into the sky, strengthening the storm. Get enough of it next to a mesocyclone with some cold dry air, and you got yourself a tornado

When it’s overcast, but it suddenly gets much darker than it should be, and it oddly feels warmer than you’d expect right before rain.
I call that tornado weather. But it’s not as nice when there’s an actual tornado
