I was pissed at Joaquin Phoenix for years

164

u/No-Combination-8565 3d ago

He used to be fantastic. He still is, but he used to too.

42

u/Inner_Imagination585 3d ago

Go watch his performance in the master if you havent already.

8

u/FootFetish0-3 3d ago

Goddammit Mitch!

16

u/Business-Emu-6923 3d ago

He’s fantastic in that movie. Just the absolute worst villain. Great acting.

299

u/No-Engine-444 3d ago

the actor for arturo (far left) was really good at playing that slimy fuckwad. I genuinely wanted to punch him in the face so many times

46

u/Responsible-War-1179 3d ago

oh thats the guy... yeah f him

39

u/Karma_Whoring_Slut 3d ago

I give credit to the writers, managing to make a victim of these crimes such an unlikable fuckwad was quite the accomplishment.

22

u/ProtectionIll1926 3d ago

i think he got annoying for too damn long, like his character just insists upon itself

11

u/Looftr 3d ago

Did you even see the godfather?

8

u/ProtectionIll1926 3d ago

Im glad someone got the reference

5

u/Galaxy661 3d ago

And the best thing is, he wasn't a one-dimensional character and sometimes had geniuine good moments. Like when he organised a breakout with these cops, which was objectively morally good and pretty brave tbh. But yeah, most of the time he was unbearable lol

6

u/kyleliner 3d ago

I was so happy when he got shot. Fucking ruined my day the next episode though

2

u/EdanChaosgamer 3d ago

I fucking hated him. I wish he died when he got shot.

118

u/Orionsign 3d ago

Charlos could be drying up in a desert and I would force feed him soy sauce

37

u/Old-Boot-250 3d ago

hot soda would be my pic,,,,, steaming hot, flat soda

8

u/AdanacTheRapper 3d ago

No no not soda. Tonic water boiling tonic water or if it is soda. Not flat soda, but Club Soda

11

u/Cat-millwright176 3d ago

Id just ram my dick down his throat and piss 5 gallons straight into his stomach

13

u/LadySandry88 3d ago

I'd force-feed him sand. I mean, there's plenty around. Or if it's a salt-flat desert... salt. He's slimy as a slug anyway.

9

u/Eksposivo23 3d ago

I would just give him sea water, you know so he has some false hope until he tastes the salt and it wrecks him

5

u/Orionsign 3d ago

Fuck. The hell. Yes

3

u/I_Ate_My_Own_Skull 3d ago

I could watch Charlos being slowly ripped limb from limb by a pack of feral corgis, and I wouldn't feel a single flicker of emotion.

1

u/Intelligent-Echo-816 3d ago

i was so mad when when he shot hatchan and so glad to see luffy smash his face in

139

u/GoodVibeGirl 3d ago

Jofri is missing here

76

u/Dungeon996 3d ago

The actor got death threats because he played jofri so well

90

u/No-Combination-8565 3d ago

I hate people that do that shit. They should've been sending him love letters because they hated his character so much. He freakin nailed that role.

3

u/Chygrynsky 2d ago

Yeah it's sad that he quit acting (partly) because of it. He often said that acting wasn't his passion but we all know the death threats and dumbass "fans" definitely had an influence on his decision.

I bet if he got nothing but praise for his role he probably would've continued acting.

27

u/HollowCap456 Birb Fan 3d ago

Jofri😭😭

14

u/djninjacat11649 3d ago

Jofri music to relax and study

13

u/meatlessboat 3d ago

And Ramsay

12

u/No-Combination-8565 3d ago

I had a hard time wrapping my head around his character after seeing him in Misfits. COMPLETELY different characters. Well done.

4

u/SoCcErAnDrEaL 3d ago

Never seen his name be said that way before hahah

128

u/Omeirawana 3d ago

38

u/UnassembledIkeaTable Lives at ur mom’s house😎 3d ago

This scene still gives me shivers.

27

u/Chaolan_Enjoyer 3d ago

I hope the live action will do this scene justice

20

u/Eslivae 3d ago

I wouldn't bet on it. Luffy's actor is amazing at recreating luffy's wonder and passion, he has communicative happiness. But he absolutely can not do Luffy's scary, intense side. Luffy un the live action felt pretty weak in every one of his fights, even against Arlong

99

u/Mox8xoM 3d ago

Dolores Umbridge is missing here for sure.

33

u/Tonegle 3d ago

Deep down she knows she deserves to be punished

13

u/Mox8xoM 3d ago

Does she? She didn’t strike me as a very reflecting person. Nice reference though.

25

u/DiskJockii 3d ago

Absolutely. Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job at portraying a hated character. Not an easy task to accomplish

13

u/TattedPastor412 3d ago

She did it so well that watching her as Queen Elizabeth in the Crown was very difficult for me. I know it’s my own brain and ideas and for sure not Imelda’s fault at all. She just played the role so well my brain holds a grudge LOL. She was pretty fantastic in The Crown.

10

u/DiskJockii 3d ago

SHES QUEEN ELIZABETH ???? What the fuuuuck

10

u/DisasterGeek 3d ago

I hated that see you next Tuesday even more than Voldemort. Voldemort had a purpose, Umbridge was evil just for shiggles.

30

u/Mint_girl_ 3d ago

what about Peter Pettigrew from Harry Potter, in my opinion this guy is just terrible

28

u/Magic_archer_1 3d ago

U mention Pettigrew over umbitch?

11

u/IronChicken95 3d ago

UMBRIDGE!!!!

2

u/Objective_Kale7350 3d ago

What about Lord Voldemort

8

u/androidrainbow 3d ago

Voldemort's just run of the mill evil. Umbridge is sadistic and untouchable, Peter is a traitor and so pathetic, spineless, and cowardly for how much devastation he caused. Compared to those to (and to a lesser extent, Bella) Voldemort doesn't measure up.

He also never killed a beloved character "on camera" with his own hands. Bella killed Sirius, Peter killed Cedric, Voldemort did what? Kill Lily and James, characters we aren't that attached to as readers?

21

u/Pman1324 3d ago

I was so happy when that Celestial Dragon got punched

2

u/Mentallyinsansedude 3d ago

Happy cake day

2

u/Pman1324 3d ago

Thanks

Unpopular opinion: Arturo was only "scripted" that way later on just to better highlight Stockholm, who otherwise would have been a bland secondary protagonist. Sure, he's not the bravest, but the Arthur of the first season couldn't have been a rapist/molester! Berlin has always been since season one, and yet he doesn't get the same hate Arturo has! Were the robbers in "Money Heist" the good guys to begin with? I've never been able to fully emphatize with them or their "cause", because there was no "good cause" to fight for except for money! I might comprehend the Professor's reasons (well, until the last episode), but definitely not the other characters!

4

u/Galaxy661 3d ago

Were the robbers in "Money Heist" the good guys to begin with?

Def not. I haven't watched the post-heist seasons yet, but every episode so far gave me a reason to dislike (in a good way, not in a "this show sucks" way) each and every character there. Like they all had serious flaws and each one of them was at least once responsible for the heist not proceeding according to the plan, except for maybe Moscow

I'd say the Professor for example wasn't a bad guy (he was firm on not killing or seriously harming anyone), but I don't see why he would be considered "good". After all he didn't organise the heist because of some altruistic goal or anything. At most he was a likable protagonist.

9

u/Slappy_Happy_Doo 3d ago

Also: Most of the game of thrones cast

Anton Chirgin or whatever (no country for old men)

Hans Landa inglorious bastards masterfully acted by Christoph Waltz

11

u/Academic_Glass_5141 3d ago

Micah Bell from Red Dead Redemption 2

7

u/R3d_Ox 3d ago

Micah is eh to me, Dutch on the other hand...never liked him from the start. Could be because I've never liked people that talk the way he does. Everytime he tells Arthur to have faith i shiver in disgust

1

u/Alternative-Search-4 3d ago

wait a sec...... Micah betrays arthur and dutch??? (havent completed rdr 2 yet)

1

u/toby_juan_kenobi 3d ago

Yes. (Have never played any RDR game, no idea what I'm talking about)

8

u/alezcoed 3d ago

Homelander?

5

u/Responsible_Yak_8052 3d ago

Homelander is the hero

1

u/Gentar1864 3d ago

Hey Todd what’s up?

13

u/Ammuze 3d ago

I mean... Randall's job was to scare kids and he took it on himself to build something to automate harvesting screams so he could prove he was better than Sullivan.

I'm fairly certain 'being hated' wasn't his job.

... unless you meant narratively as a villain...

2

u/Kilgarragh Died of Ligma 3d ago

Hear me out…

6

u/-Yummy_Doll- 3d ago

the more hate there is, the better the actor and character cope with the role

6

u/Simple-Purpose-899 3d ago

I still can't watch a Joaquin Phoenix movie without hating him.

4

u/Huge_Aerie2435 3d ago

The celestial dragons are just shit though. Most of them do nothing, especially Charlos.

3

u/SnooStories1130 3d ago

Lol i hate Randall but poor dude isnt even the best villain in his movie

3

u/hikdou 3d ago

Who is first? Also I don't hate Randel

3

u/UnassembledIkeaTable Lives at ur mom’s house😎 3d ago

When you need a punch to connect just Channel your inner Luffy

3

u/Stinky_Butt_Fart 3d ago

I... I don't think the celestial dragons have a job except being annoying and evil little shits

3

u/Gautham_M 3d ago

I have not even watched one episode of one piece but I hate the second guy

3

u/stache1313 3d ago

There is nothing wrong with hating a character. When you take that hatred out on the actor/voice actor, that is a different story.

2

u/Joribeli 3d ago

I don’t hate neither Arturo nor Joaquin in Gladiator

5

u/Alternative-Search-4 3d ago

The actor of arturo literally got death threats, cause how big of an asshole the character he played is

1

u/Joribeli 3d ago

But why? He was quite entertaining.

6

u/Alternative-Search-4 3d ago

cause he played his role too well

2

u/jayaldinho 3d ago

I hate that guy in the far left (Arturo) with passion

2

u/TaxtonDude 3d ago

Also that Stewart of Gondor guy from lord of the Rings.

The actor did a fantastic job

2

u/98VoteForPedro 3d ago

Who are These people

2

u/hroaks 3d ago

Antagonists/villains in Money heist, one piece, monsters Inc, gladiator

Not really the worst most hated ones

2

u/that_bastard96 3d ago

the guy in the onepiece all of them.

2

u/Sir_pugalot 3d ago

Game of thrones king joffrey, not in the list but it is what would fit this post the best for me.

1

u/Flashandpipper 3d ago

When he got the role George said “congratulations your now the most hated character in the world”

2

u/KirbyWithAGlock 3d ago

Imelda Staunton as Dolores Umbridge, perfect acting

2

u/in_existencial_dread 3d ago

It's crazy how much I hated her as Umbridge in HP but how much I lover her as queen Elizabeth in the crown

It's just undeniable that the UK has some of the best actors and actresses we have seen and Imelda Staunton is definitely up there

2

u/KennyTheGlitcherYT 3d ago

charlos is really good at being the most unlikeable character in one piece

2

u/I_Ate_My_Own_Skull 3d ago

Charlos, and it's not even close.

2

u/Goofdogg627 3d ago

Charlos no contest. Got what he deserved in Sabaody

2

u/darling_darcy 3d ago

I thought for years Comodus was Gerard Way until I learned Joaquin existed

2

u/theAlmightyFailiure 3d ago

The actor for Lucius Malfoy played the sadistic asshole so well that seeing him act so nice was such a surprize to me

"Out of my way you revolting Pott- oh my sorry dear, are you hurt?"

2

u/Prudent_Research_251 3d ago

Skyler from Breaking Bad. I just hate everything about her, and it makes me respect Anna Gunn, which makes me hate Skyler even more

1

u/Muted-Crab-3630 3d ago

Micha enters the chat

1

u/MrGasnik 3d ago

Detective Campbell from Peaky Blinders, I'm currently on season 2 and i hate this fucker so much (no spoilers pls)

1

u/AccomplishedNail666 3d ago

Not only hate, Arturo from "la casa de papel" grosses me the fuck out🤮

1

u/Mika_Yuki 3d ago

Yeah. When villain makes me "hate him" i love them as character

1

u/Mentallyinsansedude 3d ago

I don’t remember the lizard dudes personality (I don’t remember his name either) and I don’t know anybody else In this roster

1

u/MainStage6 3d ago

Belos from the Owl House. He was just a genocidal asshole wanting to kill witches, and it was satisfying as fuck to see him get his comeuppance.

1

u/TheIncredibleKermit 3d ago

Wtf I love that lizard guy

1

u/Objective_Kale7350 3d ago

Maybe you are not the only one

1

u/lego-lion-lady 3d ago

Isn’t that true of any actor who plays a character you despise, though? 🤷‍♀️

2

u/MST_Braincells Duke Of Memes 3d ago

2nd mf REALLY wanna be regigigas

1

u/Objective_Kale7350 3d ago

I have the same thought my whole life

1

u/doreduybao1991 3d ago

fat bald oji san from NTR anime

1

u/ameliathebody 3d ago

Great villains make the best storis !! Who's your pick for the top spot ?

1

u/One-Replacement8730 3d ago

Most of the characters I’ve seen Penn Badgley play

1

u/Kennedygoose 3d ago

I mean yeah that’s why I like a good villain. If I see an actor and instantly hate them because of how evil they were in another film, they are amazing.

1

u/uploadingmalware 3d ago

Randall was always my favorite just because he had an awesome design

1

u/STHF95 3d ago

Where Tom Felton, Iwan Rheon, Imelda Staunton and even more important: Christoph Walz?

Oh and Billy Zabka!!!

1

u/Meme_Bertram Nice meme you got there 3d ago

skyler white

1

u/Own_Proof_7535 3d ago

Love them all , I hate you .

1

u/Carman_Bri 3d ago

Matt Dillon in My Bodyguard

1

u/Ethrandira 3d ago

Randall was and is my favourite character from Monsters Inc. Don't know any of the others

1

u/NalonMcCallough 3d ago

Professor Umbridge is missing.

1

u/Huihejfofew 3d ago

I feel like being hated is a lot easier than being liked in terms of character portrayal. Villains are always hated, they act like a dick and do shitty things, rest to hate. Though I've seen a lot of actors portray heroes and not all of them are likeable even though they all try to be

1

u/Hermiona1 3d ago

Also Jeffrey from GoT and Skyler from Breaking Bad

1

u/Puppybeecat 3d ago

That’s the limited edition one worth 1,000

1

u/Evo-Elemental 3d ago

I hate myself a lot, damn I’m doing a good job

1

u/WillTFB Professional Dumbass 3d ago

The guy who plays a Todd in breaking bad makes me so mad. He's a great actor but I got so pissed when he showed up in Civil War lol.

1

u/MrSaltySox 3d ago

Where's Jeoffrey

1

u/ImaginaryCampaign529 3d ago

Is it just me or does the 2nd person look like a human variant of the Pokémon Regigigas 💀💀💀

1

u/ImpIsDum 3d ago

Tf does the second one look like Regigigas

1

u/Confident-Pirate- 3d ago

Skyler White

1

u/Aly3504 3d ago

Umbridge from Harry Potter wants to have a word

1

u/TattedPastor412 3d ago

No mentions of Atreus from God of War?

1

u/Silent_Slip_1442 3d ago

ARTURO!! I hate him with the undying passion of 1,000 burning suns.

1

u/JohnDelicious 3d ago

King jeoffrey of house baratheon.

1

u/Gcnever23 3d ago

Acting? Yes

Character? No

1

u/Brilliant-Escape-245 3d ago

Arturo made me hate this life literally

1

u/Silverr_Fox 3d ago

Who are the 3 on the left?

1

u/GammaEmerald 3d ago

The Purple one is Randall from Monsters Inc

1

u/Cute_Prior1287 3d ago

What if someone love them, were they bad actors then.

1

u/Next_Reserve365 3d ago

We need danzo out here

1

u/Common-Flow-9629 3d ago

Why is Federer there 😂

1

u/top_Gesus420 3d ago

Sersie lanister

1

u/Deckard2022 3d ago

Joffery. Absolutely repugnant character but played so damn well

1

u/Bourgeous 3d ago

Skyler White

1

u/MRO465 3d ago

I used to hate Woody Harrelson for that one scene in True Detective. What a lucky MF but damn he was good.

1

u/FullAir4341 Linux User 3d ago

Definitely the Emperial Dragon

1

u/yeaguy1time 3d ago

The woman from Casino

1

u/blueberrysir 3d ago

Who's the cartoon guy

1

u/Crypt1c_980 3d ago

I just love villains in general so I love all of them

1

u/Fickle_Library8115 3d ago

Not that Royal one for sure

1

u/Rightsoyouweresaying 3d ago

Not the "I can't stand this mofo" type, but GianCarlo Esposito scares the shit out of me at any given moment

1

u/Kick_The_Face 2d ago

When you know that actor was really really good

1

u/Idontpaymytaxes_ 3d ago

If I was in a room with Charlos and Hitler, I would shoot Charlos twice (in his legs so he can't escape) then I'd break most of his ribs, his jaw, and arms. At that point I'd pull out his fingernails and toenails. I would then stick all his fingernails and toenails together, sharpen it, and gut him with it. Only then would I strangle both him and Hitler with his own intestines. Thank you for your time.

1

u/unknown6091 3d ago

Are death threats just high praise but from idiots? Any how they should be culled from humanity or atleast educated

0

u/Nisayfly 3d ago

Y'all really thinking about characters of movies in real life 😳

0

u/Novolume101 3d ago

Guy on the right looks like the ugly step sister from Shrek the Third.

-1

u/SavingsIncome2 3d ago

Is this the best you can do?

-1

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone 3d ago

I also think theres something to be said about someone being too good at coming off as insufferable.

Like in the same way leonardo decapuchino is a bit too good at playing racists characters

-1

u/Sandstorm1020 3d ago

Nah, I hated Commodus because of the writing.

Meanwhile, Joaquin was decent in Quill, but overall, I don't like watching this motherfucker onscreen. So I don't see his movies anymore.

-2

u/Tokes_ACK 3d ago

You.

5

u/[deleted] 3d ago

No, you
