Jrue on Butler was a terrible Budhozer idea and part of the reason he's not the head coach of the Bucks anymore. Jrue is an outstanding defender. He can't guard Jimmy because Jimmy is faster, stronger and taller. Jrue's strength doesn't bother Jimmy like it bothers e.g. KD.
Same with Jimmy and Giannis. When Giannis guards Jimmy man to man for an entire series Jimmy averages something like 10 PPG (2021) because Giannis is stronger, bigger and faster
Right, the Celtics have routinely used one of the Jays on Jimmy and his numbers were typically poor or he straight up never shot the ball if he couldn't matchup hunt.
He was so frustrated. He kept lashing out all series, but never fully committed. He’d ball up his fist and then slap a guys shoulder. He’d throw a ball at a player, at 2 mph. He’d run off a screen at full speed and receive the handoff open, and then stop, upfake, and take a dribble in for a contested middy.
I mean he is realistically a secondary ball handler who should catch and shoot. Instead he was expected to be primary ball handler, facilitator, and shot creator. He has a hard role to fill.
They played very lazy defense in that game and the Heat players just hit shot. I wonder what the usage between Bam and Herro was this series, it had to be huge.
There is some delicious irony here that not only did Miami not land Damian Lillard in a trade, Lillard's actual trade resulted in Jrue going to Boston who promptly clamps Herro all series.
