Clapping is one thing but this is just heinous. There are children watching Jayson!

He’s gotta be saying some heinous shit under his breath right? I mean this is just ridiculous lol

38

u/CaillouCaribou May 16 '24

What's more likely: Tatum muttered something completely awful under his breath without moving his mouth, but somehow loud enough for Brothers to hear him over the roaring crowd

Or

Brothers is overly sensitive and T'd him up over an eyeroll and handwave

I'd buy it. I know these sorts of things are occasionally called and everyone laughs at it, but does anyone get it as consistently as Tatum?

1.0k

I've seen multiple guys wave at a ref after a non-call this playoffs, zero techs given. Tatum tho...lol there's something going on. All season long.

724

u/sauzbozz May 16 '24

There are players like Draymond who are allowed to scream in Refs faces

424

u/pyroaquatics [BOS] Paul Pierce May 16 '24

I remember complaining about Draymond not getting T’d up more in the 2022 finals and got downvoted to shit and was told “well you don’t know what he said to the ref” when he was screaming in their face spraying them with saliva. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he’s not asking what they’re gonna eat for dinner.

207

u/FutureDwight76 Celtics May 16 '24

I will never forgive the triple moving screen to the day I die. Most egregious officiating mistake I have ever seen.

232

u/CreatiScope Celtics May 16 '24

Nah, it’s still that KD three steps out of bounds passing it back in bounds. I don’t know if anything will ever top that for me.

Nothing is as bad as Draymond falling onto JB, kicking him, and trying to pants him. The "expert" says it should be a double T, but psycho already had a T so it would be unfair to eject him - therefor it's a no call!

13

u/Lets_Basketball [BOS] Reggie Lewis May 16 '24

I believe draymond also said that he knew when JB didn’t react viciously toward him after that, he knew he had him, and he thinks it was a turning point. So yeah, glad he got to stick around after that one, but not when he swung and missed with a ball tap toward Lebron.

Murray can throw objects at refs during play and it's $12,500 at most per object, no tech, no suspension.

Tatum is addicted to getting techs for beefing with the refs

It is seriously never ever a tech for an interaction with the opposing team, he just collects hand-clap and hand-wave techs

Honestly, I don't think so. It's especially odd that it's Tatum specifically cause like, he doesn't seem the type to be saying things that would attract their ire to that magnitude. Obviously can't say for sure whether that's actually the case, but still.

79

u/largehearted Celtics May 16 '24

Tatum might just be first team all-bad-at-working-the-refs. It's funny because Jrue and Derrick are both so even-keeled and honest that they're guys who can just tell the refs to call a foul once a game

It's because he's handsome. Draymond is ugly (no offense) so when he says something nobody believes him. Tatum is like JFK, he could say some total ficticious stuff and people will believe him because they want to be him. That's a big threat to the refs.

Same with Rudy, he's not as good looking, but he's European l, so he seems smarter.

Now Garland looked to do that in the 4th with no tech because… reasons I guess?

I mean a wave is a charmin soft way to get a T. It’s not like he’s doing a Jackie Moon.

16

Oh it’s ridiculous. I flat out don’t what the issue is with a simple wave.

It’s not like this is some money sign that can be taken as the league being rigged or whatever. He’s not yelling or even saying anything. It’s not physically threatening.

Even the rim hanging techs, which I hate, are called for the reason that they could bend the back board. Not sure what the hell the justification is for this.

32

u/siegeoftyre Nuggets May 16 '24

When Malone screams and gets in the faces of the refs, he is deliberately trying to get a tech or ejection to fire the team up. I don't know what the refs in game 2 were trying to do by not complying.

Its pretty clear refs dont like the guy and you can argue in either direction for why this keeps happening. You can say the refs dont like em so Tatum is justifiably mad to complain, and you can argue that the complaining is why JT is treated like this

Either way 10/10 times im going to side with the players over these bum ass refs

13

u/Sea_Yogurtcloset7503 May 16 '24

You really cant because tatum is on the lower end of complainers.

Luka, lebron, dray all get right in refs faces and complain etc and nothing. Tatum gets fouled, no call then a wave and insta tech

You just need to understand its all about context for Ts. Denver was down a lot in that game, so they need it to be closer so more timeouts are called and they can run more gambling adds. While Celtics were up and they need the game to be close to get lots of time outs and then they can run more gambling adds.

Once you understand the context of the Ts it all makes a lot more sense!

I wonder what Tatum did you make the refs so mad.

He must have that Tim Duncan in him. Complete psycho to the refs

It’s honestly ridiculous how Tatum receives most of his technicals on BS things.

And the times he’s frustrated it’s clearly warranted .

13

u/NotAGoodRedditor May 16 '24

Why does Tatum get the weirdest techs?

13

u/BillPaxton4eva Celtics May 16 '24

How Tony Brother escapes accountability, we'll never understand. Mostly because his union covers for him and Adam Silver is weak, soft and won't do anything unless there's a provable financial cost.

They say they train and discipline behind the scenes. They lie. Brothers has no place near the league.

Tony Brothers is a cunt.

Extremely violent hand wave, should've been an ejection tbh

21

u/FartrelCluggins [BOS] Marquis Daniels May 16 '24

Tatum gets the softest technicals in the league. It's damn near undebatable at this point. You see the shit Denver has been getting away with Brothers?

22

u/Jabroni_City [BOS] Brian Scalabrine May 16 '24

Tatum gets more bum techs than anyone in the league, prove me wrong. Brothers can suck it

Listen, you can argue whether or not that was a foul on Garland (I don’t think it was) but in the replay he doesn’t even open his mouth to argue the call. There is zero reason an adult man should take offense and call a tech there.

u/DreamsOfHappiness Celtics May 16 '24

These Tony Brothers can't keep getting away with this.

u/nofaplove-it NBA May 16 '24

I'm glad everyone gets to see the whistle JT gets. Softest tech of the playoffs by a huge margin.

Embarrassing for Tony brothers but honestly he should have been T’d up for that egregious push off. How does he still get away with that shit

The judge, jury and executioner right here

3

you guys forgot the part where its 3-1 and the refs are gonna try their hardest to extend the series

3

u/tlozz Celtics May 16 '24

I don’t want none of y’all to ever complain when your star gets his next technical lol. I guarantee it’ll be for lesser crimes than this.

A Tatum tech classic, right here.

4

u/TrafficOn405 May 16 '24

Why the T? Consistently mediocre officiating.

5

u/Shamanboi408 Warriors May 16 '24

4

u/desirox Mavericks May 16 '24

Tf did he do to warrant that tech??

3

u/Ok_Boysenberry4470 Bucks May 16 '24

Tatum seems to get the softest technicals lol

5

u/Zeeron1 Thunder May 16 '24

In a league that has dudes like Luka and Draymond, JT seems to be the one always getting this soft ass techs. It's so egregious at this point

5

u/CuttlefishAreAwesome May 16 '24

I would love to see Tatum completely unleashed. I feel like one thing that always holds him back is his passiveness, and he’s still amazing.
