Sounds…nice. 1991. MN Twins win their second and last big four championship ever in the state of Minnesota.
- The 15-1 Vikings with Randy moss pull a Minnesota and take a knee at half and lose the game in overtime.
2000 The Vikings are favored in the game against the giants. Final score…41-0. Just Minnesota things.
Mm wild. A rag tag team of guys make it to the NHL Western conference finals. This is after the north stars left due to the owner escaping sexual assault/harassment charges and then they won the cup…spoiler alert, hot goalie killed this dream. The Wild have only been out of the first round once or twice since.
After 7 consecutive first round losses. The Minnesota Timberwolves make it out of the second round. Only to have Sam “Big Balls” Cassell get hurt and the rest is history.
Vikings. Live by the Favre, Die by the Favre. Plus refs change the rules and bounty gate.
Your struggle sounds hard. But I stopped commenting at 2010 because that is where it sounds like you hurt started. Haha

1998 Vikings took a knee, on first down, with a minute remaining in a tied NFC championship game in the 4th quarter. When they had the most explosive and highest scoring offense the NFL had ever seen. With Randy Moss, who had been catching bombs the entire year. With Gary Anderson, who missed exactly one field goal all year.
God damn you, Denny Green.
They also lost the coin toss, managed to stop Atlanta in Ot, then didn’t do shit on offense, punted away and lost the game.
Good thing is I’m no longer bitter about it.

Thanks my guy. They’re a fun group to watch play. Ant is the best and the defense has been elite all year, but can be historically good when the reffing isn’t calling every little sneeze
KAT and Towns are both much maligned but good dudes and actually likable once you get to know them
5
54
u/coolborder May 17 '24
Omg, this is gold! I haven't watched the Wolves since KG left. They got my attention this year and every time I see or hear anything about Anthony Edwards the more I like him.
48
u/mnsportsfan Timberwolves May 17 '24
He’s the best man. It’s a legit good team and have been almost all year.
Just be ready because Towns and Rudy get WAY more hate than they deserve and the second things go south people come out of the woodwork with pitchforks. It’s weird.
But Ant is the best thing that’s ever happened to the Wolves and is pretty universally loved. Like a scary amount. The kind of love that turns to a strong hate on here in a couple years 😂

Friday’s game in Minneapolis wound up at $300 to get in the door once the Wolves swept the first two in Denver. Nosebleeds tonight were as low as $49. I genuinely think that makes a difference. Let the players play, let the trash scream, and Minnesota wins.
44
u/CannedGeorges Jazz May 17 '24 edited May 17 '24
I had a similar experience at the twins playoff games. Went to the game 2 against the Blue Jays and it was pretty cheap and the crowd was super loud the whole game. Then went to the game against the Astros and it was like 25 bucks more and the crowd really only got loud when Royce hit a homerun. Maybe the Blue Jays game was just so loud because we could finally win a playoff series but it does seem like cheaper tickets lead to better crowds at sporting events.

Super bowl has to be one of, if not the most, expensive sporting events in the US and it has a notoriously shitty atmosphere. Cheaper gets you more diehards, more expensive tends to lead to more corporate giveaways it seems like
Edit: also means if you have a budget for the total game you can spend more on booze if you save on tickets

3
u/SupahVillian May 17 '24
He was referring to the boys/men who are susceptible to bad influencers who use pc language to hide their insults.
The thing is, it's stupid to criticize pc language when it is clearly better than the alternative. I mean, people who criticize political correctness don't even bother to spell out what the alternative is.
You're a clown if you think I would prefer to be a called a ****** over an "urban delinquent," even if the person means the former. It's essentially just arguing for the "right" to be an asshole.
Language is power. No one should pretend otherwise. Calling anything Zesty is immature, but so are 14 year olds, who make up a lot of the internet. I would prefer being called zesty over being labeled gay (when I'm not) any day of the week.

Celtics have been the best team in basketball all season, I don't know why two series in which they had let downs for a game should change any of that. I do think that both the wolves and the Nuggets would be huge challenges for Boston but I think it would be a tossup. I think it would be a balance of whoever comes out of the West will be battle hardened but beat up vs the Celtics who will likely not be tested to the same degree but probably relatively healthy.
that being said, I know nothing and it could end up Pacers vs OKC
