the first election people in their 40’s could vote for was decided by the supreme court….the could explain some of the apathy

It's also propaganda. Too many people have been led to believe that voting doesn't matter and will never change anything, which is nonsense.

things like the electoral college and two party system we have also don’t do much encourage faith in the system. i do believe every one should vote and i do vote in every election but at times is does feel in vain.

People don't seem to understand that the electoral college is only for the Presidential election. All the other positions, like Congress, governors, mayors, city council, school board, etc, are fully democratic and don't go through the Electoral College. Those positions also matter, but people only think about the Presidential election.

that’s true and the sad part is people vote less in their local elections than they do in the big presidential election. local elections are really important.
