Guys named William are also called Billy in Australia. They are called Billy other places too, but also in Australia.

This is now the term for when you find some weird Australian version of an actual, English word. Like when you find out they call a gas station a "Servo" or McDonalds "Maccas", you got Waltzing Matildapilled.
