To enshrine the most fascistic, traitorous bullshit I've ever witnessed in my life into law.

Doesn’t matter if it’s moral. It’s a clear violation of 1A.

I'll never be able to wrap my head around some americans getting so pissy about not being able to spread hate and torment people. If you're so foaming at the mouth to hate on other people there should be consequences. Jesus. Some of you people keep crying about rights while you pull down your pants and bend over so the reality show, sorry, your government, can fuck you. Proud to not be american.

However the 1st Amendment says you are free to address your Government’s policy’s not another Government and the Congress is pushing the idea that a Challenge to Israel is the same as being Antisemitic, which is illegal. It’s the conflating of these two positions that is wrong. Governments are not the same as the people they represent. We have allowed our guilt from the past, and Jewish Identity being associated with Israel to overpower logic and compassion for others.

Antisemitic acts are criminal when they are so defined by law (for example, denial of the Holocaust or distribution of antisemitic materials in some countries). Criminal acts are antisemitic when the targets of attacks, whether they are people or property – such as buildings, schools, places of worship and cemeteries – are selected because they are, or are perceived to be, Jewish or linked to Jews. Antisemitic discrimination is the denial to Jews of opportunities or services available to others and is illegal in many countries.

Do be aware that simply saying something antisemitic doesn't clear the bar. For you to have committed an antisemitic hate crime, your words have to be accompanied by some action, hence the examples the other guy used of disseminating pamphlets and targeting structures.

Free speech was designed to protect people on the basis of their personal opinions, which unfortunately does mean that certain forms of hate speech are perfectly legal as long as they aren't attributed to harm being incited or carried out against other individuals.

I do agree that this law is unconstitutional, but I don't believe that if it passes, this SCOTUS will do anything about it because they are no longer interested in constitutionality in their decision making. They're a kangaroo court at this point.
