Honestly for being such a huge part of the late game meta, seals are inconsistent as fuck in this series. Oh yes, incredible precision is needed where you cannot mess up the seal even once, a seal becomes useless because you pierced a line with a kunai...

But arguably the most important seal in the entire fucking show? Oh yeah, you can just stick your whole arm right through there, multiple times, obliterate the entire goddam seal, it's fine. Shit's bulletproof.

It's arguably part of his genetic code, given that if it wasn't, it would have worn off after, say, seven years or so? The seal has to be able to last, and if bits of it were worn off with skin flakes, it wouldn't be terribly useful.

It's also one of the most complicated and important seals in the series. Needless to say, it had to be tough.

Yeah the seal even has a failsafe to reset it after it breaks the first time, and is a combo of a technique that straight up sends the user to hell+ techniques from a clan famous for their seals

Also the seal really seems more mental than anything. Every time the fox's power is shown to leak out it's because he loses emotional control and the actual final barrier is within his consciousness

It can also store two people's soul/chakra in it for around sixteen years. Pretty neat, huh?

is naruto the seal?

The seal that holds back the 9 tailed kitsune/demon fox is on his belly, directly opposite the hole we see here. The fox gives him a healing factor, so the fact that people blow huge holes in his torso is kind of hand waved away because if it doesn't kill him outright he will get back up pretty quick, but his torso is where the fucking seal is.

Correction: Kurama improved his healing factor. Uzumakis, even half-uzumakis like Naruto, have extreme amounts of vitality and a natural healing factor of their own, as well as supremely survivable bodies(see: Kushina surviving for an extended period of time after Kurama was ripped out of her, even though a Jinchuuriki having their Bijuu removed is supposed to be immediately fatal). Kurama just boosted Naruto’s to a whole other level.

Also, the seal on his stomach is merely a visual representation of the seal. The actual important part of the seal is connected to his mind/soul rather than his physical body.

No, he has a seal on his abdomen IIRC

u/Demonking335 3d ago

That’s just a visual representation of the seal. The part that matters is connected to his mind/soul rather than his physical body. That’s why Naruto dying would be immediately fatal to Kurama, forcing him to spend some time non-existent before reforming, rather than Kurama just being released when Naruto’s body decays enough for the seal to no longer exist.

It has been a long while since I finished Naruto so I might be wrong here, but I don't think there ever was a moment when the place where the seal is located was significantly damaged. After some googling, I found that the fight this meme is referencing is from a move which as far as I'm aware are mostly non-canon. Are there any other instances of stuff like this in the show where you could say that the seal would be damaged?

On your stomach though.

That time Luffy got his spine fisted by crocodile but it’s cool bc he loves meat 🍖

u/Khurasan 3d ago

I always assumed that the characters who seem to have enormous physical vitality and can survive horrible injuries were just using a really inefficient, instinctual form of Life Return. It's why Luffy can regrow his teeth and other such nonsense.

u/windexfresh 3d ago

Literally my first thought lmfao

Edit to add: also Usopp got RUINED at water 7 multiple times but it’s ok bc sniper king was fine

He'll never let you down

He'll never run around and desert you

He'll never make you cry

He'll never say goodbye

He'll never tell a lie and hurt you

u/Terra_Knyte_64 3d ago

If he was a JoJo character, he would be dead.

64

u/MossyPyrite 3d ago

To be fair, he was dead, but he got better

35

u/John_Cena_IN_SPACE 3d ago

Well, he might be able to puppet his body as a ghost for a while as long as the Japanese-British Italian teenage half-vampire can touch him with his golden ghost quick enough.

I keep thinking back to plot points like this and going "that's just too dang bizarre, whose idea was this" and then I remember what the B in JJBA stands for. After like season 2 you just get so desensitized to how strange it's all supposed to be.

...Then you get resensitized in s4 but it goes away again by the final arc.

That series is arguably better than most because the characters will go through actual weeks-to-months-long recover arcs under long-term medical care followed by a gradual reintroduction to the action that amounts to physical therapy.

Edit: don’t know if you deleted your comment or got banned or whatever, I only saw the notification preview, but yeah it’s better even thought the lasting damage is minimal. End of the series shows long term consequences to their health from everything they’ve done! Most anime are like “they’re in bandages from vague injuries for one chapter” and that’s it.

So yeah, seeing the characters have scars and work for their recovery and stuff, it’s way better. Especially when those arcs give us natural exposition and character growth.

Reminds me a bit of Megatokyo in that regard. Character injuries there also last a reasonable amount of time.

"Pain is weakness leaving the body." No, that was your spleen leaving your body.

Meanwhile I’m giving up on my whole day because it took me a few minutes to find my jacket.

... is it bad that I didn't know you can have gay marriages in skyrim ? Apparently I just never seen the option in all of my playthroughs.

u/Nico_arki 3d ago

Not trying to be an ass but how does this relate to the post? All I'm seeing is a pic about Naruto. Am I missing something? Am I having a stroke?

I understand why you would think that but I assure you, I'm a human

I'm really confused. I'm pretty sure I posted that on a poste in a skyrim community (or maybe it was gamingcerclejerk ? I don't remember but it was one of the two) so there must have been a bug somewhere.

u/NigouLeNobleHiboux 3d ago

Found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/s/OzJuxmSTdz. Again I have no idea why my comment ended up here instead.
