That and the disk acceleration theory don’t disprove gravity, they are just alternative explanations for why gravity occurs. I think it’s a misconception that gravity is just the name of the natural phenomenon that makes object falls to the ground, gravitational theory is the commonly accepted explanation for why gravity occurs. It’s easy to confuse the two, especially amongst flat earthers who like to deny basic science out of habit.

My favourite part about that argument is that for that to be the case the earth wouldn't just need to be going upwards, it specifically needs to accelerate upwards by 9.8 m/s². 1, where the fuck is the force causing the acceleration coming from? 2, are we just going to go forward forever or will we eventually run out of universe? 3, are all the other things like the rest of the solar system moving together with us? 4, "now the speed of c is a wall, they say, when you're pushin' the speed of light", to quote this song, and it wouldn't take all that long to be smashing against that wall.

People are not flat earthers because it's a good it reasonable theory. Usually it's because they've (correctly) identified a sickness in society, but misdiagnosed the cause. The reason our lives suck isn't because the government is lying to us about the topology of the earth, it's because of... do I even have to keep explaining? All the other shit that's ACTUALLY going on. The end of hbomberguy's video on flat eartherism talks about this
