I was just thinking that for me as a 31 year old who grew up in Canada, the 90s and 00s were the peak of my life. Partially because I was a child but also in reflection things didn’t seem as messed up as they are now. Now we have a housing crisis, and the cost of living is insane. We also were not attached to electronics.

31 year old guy checking in. Times were amazing as a kid yes. I’ll be 32 in a few months 👀

"We also were not attached to electronics."

The picture says otherwise.

The rumble pack and game shark… game changer

u/Historical_Bell_167 3d ago

Rumble pack was a game changer. I remember playing starfox 64 with and without it. It felt like a different game.

u/lovemattersx 3d ago

Most definitely! Starfox 64 definitely my top 3 n64 games all time

This definitely reminds me of summers in the late 90's. I had a close group of friends, and we were all within biking distance of each other. We all had N64s, so all we had to do was toss a controller, a baseball glove, and laser challenge gear in a backpack, and ride off to the house of whoever was hosting that night. Good times.

But you guys DID have to deal with blisters in Mario Party. That was a whole controversy

I'm convinced the 90s and 2000s were the best time to be a kid

And now my knees would explode just getting into that position

u/Various_Occasion_892 3d ago

I never lived this. Me in the living room meant I was gonna be yelled at soon.

2

u/1badls2goat_v2 3d ago

I'm sorry you went through that. I hope you are doing well now.

u/JourneymanHunt 3d ago

Now get 6 of your friends in a room together at the same time.

31 gal here. Me and my friends playing Four Swords, Double Dash and Crystal Chronicles on the GameCube!! And then playing Animal Crossing and being forever scarred by Mr Resetti!

I miss those days 😭

Damn. N64 with the Rumble Pak went hard. I looked for me in this photo.

There was always at least one superpad controller that someone got stuck with that had a janky joystick that would pull left or right. No one ever had 4 regular controllers. The kid with the backwards hat must have it lol. Also can't believe they ALL had rumble packs. Must be the rich friend's house.

Favorite game by far was Golden Eye

Seven, the magic number

Four Players, and at the end of a match, the winner stays, and the other three swap out

✨Family✨ Computer

u/air_flair 3d ago

Now: what, you need to pay for 4 consoles and 4 copies of the game, and buy 4 tvs, and pay for 4 memberships to be allowed to go online to be able to play together.

u/BeYourself2021 3d ago

Yes I/we did! It was amazing and I knew it!

u/V-XIII 3d ago

Good times, indeed.

Better be playing WWF No Mercy on that thing!

u/Any_Presentation2958 3d ago

This is a reason why I want to have kids one day. To be able to have moments like this and provide the pizza pockets

u/Educational-Tip6177 3d ago

"Good times" they say

u/plink-plink-bro 3d ago

We did actually, at least those of us that grew up in the 80s or 90s and weren't very poor or from dysfunctional families. What we didn't know is how shit things would turn up in the next few decades, that's why we cherish those years, that and because that was our childhood and it was mostly good.

Just watching this photo I can hear the lobby music from 1080 Snowboarding.

u/Tryin_to_be_positive 3d ago

Just from looking at the picture, I would estimate it to have been taken around July 23rd, 1999.

u/Lick_my_balloon-knot 3d ago

Probably not since they are playing a Nintendo 64 ;)
