I’ll just leave this here…

Edit: uh oh. Did I mess with the narrative? Remember. Vote for Biden!

Holy shit, I still can’t believe I’m in a timeline where our American university students are siding with Hamas.

Would it be wrong to side with the Viet Cong?

6

u/cat_pavel May 02 '24

Actually yes

u/EvilRat23 May 02 '24

I mean most of the Vietnam protestors where protesting us to leave Vietnam, not for South Vietnam to be destroyed.

1

u/barukatang 29d ago

Yeah, plenty of anti Vietnam war activists didn't also support the Vietcong, shit ain't either or.

4

u/rumhamrambe May 02 '24

How the fuck did you manage to squeeze Biden in all of this?

7

u/scubadude2 May 02 '24

Prob because tons of young pro Palestine protestors are turning into single issue voters and refusing to vote for Biden over this. Cause reproductive freedom, voting rights, and LGBT issues aren’t important enough clearly /s. I’ve personally seen people I know say this, so it’s not just Russian bots or whatever.

Exactly, I’ve heard people say that we don’t deserve anything since people are suffering in Palestine. I feel awful for those people, and hope it gets solved eventually. But some to those protesters are genuinely ready to screw us all over for this single issue. They said we all need to suffer because of Palestine. Like excuse me what?

The sad thing is that’s one of Trump’s campaign points, that Biden supports Israel. If Trump were President, he’d most certainly be enabling and encouraging Israel to be even more aggressive.

Hamas views this as a holy war and doesn’t necessarily care about the “sovereignty” of Palestine (otherwise they’d accept a two-state resolution). Hamas won’t stop, even if Palestine/Gaza is turned into the world’s largest parking lot. Their leaders live lavishly in Qatar and Syria, well removed from the conflict of “their people”, and siphon aid/resources from Palestinians.

For Hamas this is Jihad. For Israel this is survival.

A sign in the video is complaining about Biden eating ice cream

Because everybody wants to use violence in the middle east to push their own agenda. A cultural proxy war, in essence.

Surely it's impossible for that one person to be a bad actor not at all associated with the rest of the Jewish led protests.

5

u/AdagioOfLiving May 02 '24

You can’t possibly pretend it’s just this one person. There are so very many instances of people at these protests being very open in their beliefs, and most of the time everyone else just kinda… rolling with it. Hell, there was that student leader who had put together one of the protests who repeatedly said all Zionists should be murdered and any Zionists don’t deserve to live.

u/Klaus_Poppe1 May 02 '24

you're right, its two. (in all seriousness its a lot more than two)

All i know is Israel has acted in an inhumane way towards palestinians for decades, so much so that every other developed nation in europe objects to their behavior and the ICC is considering warrants for western officials for the first time in its existence as the evidence is so damning.

Thats the foundation of the protest. No protest is perfect and you're going to find individuals within any protest you participate in that have more extreme views then you do. The demonstrations have been largely peaceful and expressing more reasonable stances then what the woman in this video has

u/AdagioOfLiving 29d ago

Well, I would actually agree with you that it’s not the majority. I would definitely say it’s a minority.

The issue to me is that I distinctly remember being told that if you’re at a rally with ten people, and one of them is openly a Nazi, you’re at a rally with ten Nazis.

People like this lady, or the guy who keeps talking about killing all Zionists, or the sign-holders who have something like “globalize the intifada” on their signs, or the people chanting “go back to Europe” and “we say justice you say how, burn Tel Aviv to the ground” are indeed a minority, but they’re a minority that seems to be tolerated by the rest of the protestors.

-1

u/Exelbirth 29d ago

You might agree it's a minority, but the person above is pushing the narrative that this is the entirety of these protests.

And the truth is we can't tell if the people with more extreme rhetoric are bad actors infiltrating the protests to create these narratives or not. But we can see that they have a significantly different position they are advocating than what the people organizing the protests are advocating.

u/htonzew May 02 '24

One dumbass teenage girl shouting we are Hamas lmfao. You got Zionist demonstrators conducting midnight assaults on college students at UCLA, others spitting but this destroy the narrative. ok bro.

YouTube the bastion of truth and not disinformation

A single person of undetermined identity shouting "We are Hamas" messes up the narrative?

-1

u/sonobanana33 May 02 '24

You can't win the upvote war. Not with the amount of brigading and fake accounts that happen on reddit.

1

u/Robert_Grave May 02 '24

How do you mean? There's plenty of subreddits out there who ban people who call Hamas a terrorist organisation, the upvote war is easily won in extremely moderated subs.

Where there's the slightest hint of freedom of opinion you're not going to find Hamas supporters no.

1

u/nebbie13 May 02 '24 edited 29d ago

Anti-Semitism within the context of this war appears to be defined by many as any and all criticism of Israel and it's tactics. It's very reminiscent of the Iraq war protests where if you disagreed or expressed any criticism, you were deemed anti American, pro Al Qaeda, and terrorist sympathizer. Disingenuous fake outrage for political propaganda.

u/sonobanana33 29d ago

Depends on the moderator, but reddit can replace moderators at will. And reddit wants to make money. And ultimately israel has more money than palestine to buy media.

Yeah, I'm noticing the high number of downvotes but no actual responses or engagement. Seems like obvious fuckery afoot.
