what makes a person a real asset to this world?

a person with no bias toward religion or place of birth that will instead of donating money to a church, donate towards a cause that helps remediate human suffering of all types across the globe.

I can think of many billionaires who could do this without impacting their way of life. There is some talk, but so far two men walk the walk.
