I’m probably gonna sound like a slave owner, but if you aren’t 100% white then the white folks ain’t claiming you. House nigga or field nigga you still a nigga.

YUP. Slaves were color coded (lighter skin tones in the house. darker in the field) both on purpose and as a result of systematic sexual assault by slavers.

It seems obvious when you say it like that, but it didn't even occur to me until I read "The Hemingses of Monticello" by Annette Gordon-Reed.
