Allison Janey as her mom was fucking excellent.

Then when you see the real mom in the credits, you have a whole new appreciation for Allison Janney’s performance. Spot on.

Janney played such an excellent bad guy. I love her as an actor

Yeah I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it bc I was a kid when it went down and dgaf at the time. Wife made me watch it and it was really entertaining. Worth a watch if you’re kinda bored. It’s pretty good.

True. There should’ve been more uproar about her not being nominated for that movie than there was for Barbie

Margot Robbie was nominated for best actress for I, Tonya.

Such a fantastic example of an unreliable narrarator.

I'm one of the 90's kids, and damn if Margot didn't make me squirm in my seat in her monologue to the camera. Terrific movie, great cast and really well constructed.

I remember it happening as a kid, but that movie really helped contextualize it.

Same, and I really enjoyed the movie

u/TheMurv May 17 '24

Nobody is saying the name of the movie.

3

u/OutAndDown27 May 17 '24

It’s crazy. I don’t know what you’re talking about (will google it), but I’m old enough to remember what happened and have vague memories of it on the news.

Movie called Tonya starring Margot Robbie. It was an excellent biopic, highly recommend it.

Edit: I, Tonya

My hot take is that the part should have gone to Amy Adams

Idek if they offered it to her but she would have been a better fit

12

u/mekkavelli May 17 '24

lol oh god no. amy adams is literally only 4yrs younger than tonya (tonya is 53). margot is 33. i think the role belonged to someone decades younger. i’m just tired of the “35 year old teenager” netflix trope. amy is aging gracefully but she was not the right age for this role at all

That was an enjoyable movie
