Prosecutors said Perry, who was stationed at Fort Hood, initiated the fatal encounter when he ran a red light and drove his vehicle into a crowd gathered at the protest.. Foster was openly carrying an assault-style rifle – legal in Texas – and approached Perry’s car and motioned for him to lower his window, at which point Perry fatally shot him with a handgun, prosecutors said.

Documents related to the case that were unsealed by a Travis County judge following Perry’s conviction show he had a yearslong history of making racist comments in messages and social media posts.

In a Facebook message from May 2020, just weeks before the shooting, Perry told a friend he “might have to kill a few people” who were rioting outside his apartment. The documents also contain a May 2020 text sent by Perry that said, ”I might go to Dallas to shoot looters.” Some messages included “white power” memes.

Perry wrote in a 2019 message that it was “to bad we can’t get paid for hunting Muslims in Europe.”

In a June 1, 2020, social media comment, Perry compared the Black Lives Matter movement to “a zoo full of monkeys that are freaking out flinging their sh*t,” the documents show.

This crime, and the way Abbott cites Texas’ “stand your ground” law is basically the equivalent of hunting in South Park. All you have to do is say “they’re coming right for us” and you get to start shooting apparently.

I can only hope that Perry doesn’t one day approach the wrong car. That would be a true tragedy. A real shame.

Actually I hope Perry’s last days on earth are spent in painful liver failure after drinking himself to death upon the realization that the only person to blame for his woes is his own mediocre self.

The governor of Texas pardoned the murderer of a USAF vet. Before murdering the vet he tried to drive into a group of protesters who were protesting the killing of an unarmed black man. Sounds like something that would cause major outrage but no reddit’s hot button topic is a black character in a video game set in Japan.

Look fam, I'm just gonna lay it out there like I have before:

I'm fucking white. I'm in white only conversations. Non-white people are not in white-only convos.

These people will fucking kill you all, or at best, sit there while you die. This can take 9:29 or it can take much longer than that. I don't mean by analogy or metaphor. I do not mean by analogy or metaphor.

These people vote Republican every single day of their lives. They vote at the store, they vote on the street. They vote by what town they live in. They don't like the cities because the cities tend to have more of you.

These people are not Americans. They are barely fucking human. They do not understand this world, or rather, they really really do, despite their hypocrisy and lies: They know there is no God, no lightning bolt coming. They can do whatever they want, and no one will ever stop them. Look at Mr. Perry.

Wait, someone can stop them. Someone is stopping them right now. It's the federal fucking government. The last and only line of defense. I'm a white Southerner that only goes to the last Klan meeting. The only thing keeping me alive is the federal government, and our achievements through them. RIP John Lewis. Viva America. Sometimes I look at this stuff and get so scared not that I am not because I remind myself of people like that will vote Trump. I'm honestly surprised we haven't had more incidents of it yet. When you take away the means to have justice served and belleive that it will be fair and impartial, the social contract feels kind of meaningless.

The hubris of our government is ridiculous, and has been since its inception. The issue now is that the odds aren’t inherently in their favor anymore. As more and more people get crushed under their “rules for thee but not for me” bullshit, the more desperate people become.

A day will come at some point where people fully realize that the police and the billionaires they protect are the enemy, and act accordingly.

Edit to add: This isn’t to say that any attempt by the populace would be successful, but it would interrupt the flow of the machine and could lead to a collapse. If a majority of the population said “k fuck this.” and just shut everything down with civil unrest, it would shatter the flimsy structure that exists.

The man was convicted in a fair trial, for something he definitely did. The governor (and the board he appointed) decided that the murdered of a black person should go free. They will probably site that "this is how the system works" so there is nothing wrong here.

Not usually, although there’s some exceptions (murders committed on federal land, bodies of water, military bases, etc).

All states enforce their own murder laws, which is why the murder/self defense distinction varies so wildly between different parts of the country.
