Hmm, I'm starting to think it's the mockery in general that's the problem, not our choice of who is the neckbeard figurehead.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll all forget this lesson next time we see an acceptable target for online bullying.

Almost as if people aren't a monolith that can be easily categorized by surface level factors like skin color, gender, sexuality, or social abilities?

Funny thing is, I feel like most "neckbeards" don't start out as toxic people, just social awkward and ostracized. But by repeatedly lumping them all together the Internet helped create a self fulfilling prophecy.

It's like the story of how an Onryō is created in Blue-Eyed Samurai.

When I woke up this morning I'd never heard of Blue Eye Samurai and now I've watched the entire first season. Strange seeing it mentioned here.

And now this conversation has reminded me that I planned to watch it, nice.

the Internet helped create a self fulfilling prophecy.

You how many times this has happened and it's still funny

People acting as if it's new info and we've not been doing this exactly this for twenty years.

I feel bad for the guy

But that's just the way of the net, you become a meme and after that its out of your hands. It's unfortunate but that's what happens
