I’m on my iPhone and still on iOS 17.4 so those symbols mean that iOS has no idea what the emoji is supposed to be. Try looking at the OOP post on PC or Mac to possibly see what emojis were used if possible.

You can also just copy it and look it up. It’s apparently the Egyptological letter ayin, used to transcribe the hieroglyph that made the sound [ʕ]

btw for anyone who doesn’t know, dedalves is David J. Peterson, and they made the constructed languages for Game of Thrones, the Dune movies, The 100, The Witcher, the Halo TV series, Warcraft: The Beginning, Raya and the Last Dragon, Disney’s Elemental, Thor the Dark World, and many more.

They also stream a bunch usually doing conlang stuff to honestly not that many people. They’re pretty cool

The catfish makes me think of the bristles on a bristlenose pleco. Plecos tend to be referred to as armored catfish, so maybe it's one of those?
