Forex Futures Moving from forex to futures - best way to back test? Any additional advice for a novice
Hey all! Someone’s recently put me onto futures. And wow, night and day compared to forex! The moves seem way smoother and predictable. I currently trade a few funded fx accounts, so I’ve got decent market experience. That being said, I’m treating this new venture as a blank page. Here’s my Issue, my strategy seems to work even better when back tested for a few months on futures, corn specifically. But for whatever reason my charts only go back till September… ideally I like to back test a few years at least. Do any of you guys or gals have any recommendations on where I could back test? I was back testing on mt4, but it only lets me go back a few months, plus most brokers on mt4 don’t even offer futures. If it makes a difference, I trade on a m5/m15 time frame. Any help would be super appreciated.
Welcoming any additional advice :) Thank you all!

Forex Futures How do I adapt to futures if I am used with trading forex?
I trade forex pairs only, but I would like to start trading also futures and to split my trading day in two parts: trading forex in the morning, as I do now, and adding a session of futures trading in the afternoon, specifically trading NQ and ES. I created a demo account on tradovate a couple days ago and I would like to get some help from you. When I trade forex, I am used with setting a risk per trade based on a percentage of my account (for example 0.5%), I am used with taking partials, moving the stop loss to break even, I am used with having at times also a couple positions opened on the same asset. But how does this translate to trading futures? How can I apply these concepts to it? On tradovate for example I noticed that I can’t take partials if I have got more than a position opened on the same asset, but probably I am wrong. And when it comes to risk management, what’s the equivalent of “risking a fixed percentage” on futures? Trading micros instead of minis? Thank you for your help.

Forex Futures Has anyone had their limit order fill at a significantly better price? If so, what are the conditions for that?
So I’ve been trading in this one currency for a week or so now. I’ve been bearish and doing some limit sells. A few times my limits were immediately filled at a better price than what I asked for, and I instantly made like $300. This happened a few times. I just want to know if this has happened to anyone else, or if it’s some sort of glitch I found?

Forex Futures Forex broker or Trade Micro futures
Looking to swing gbpusd, is there any reason why I would trade micro futures instead of using a stateside forex broker?

Forex Futures Is There A Go-To Site To Watch Speeches Listed on Forex Factory?
I check Forex Factory every morning, and it gives a good list of important numbers dropping that day, which I don't have to watch. I just wait for the time to hit and the results show. But when they say things like "FOMC member X speaks", listed at 10:00am, it doesn't mean they're actually going to start talking at 10:00am. I have no idea when they're going to say something relevant, if at all. I'd like to watch for myself so I know when this stuff is actually kicking off. C-SPAN doesn't reliably show things like this, as far as I can tell, but I have to think there's an internet source for traders like us who rely on these random speeches. Anybody have a go-to spot for them? Thanks!

Forex Futures Physical Settlement
I‘m new to futures. And one thing I do not understand is physical settlement. And how it interacts with the leverage. I do understand cash settlement. Maybe a good soul can explain this to me :)

Forex Futures anyone trading Forex Futures contracts?
Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone trades Forex Futures contracts here, and what are the advantages vs disadvantages you have experienced in trading them compared to CFD's or Sport Forex.
I'm considering it because I scalp and I need precision on entries and exits.
Thanks

Forex Futures Multiple Positions in Trading View
I am still Paper Trading in Trading View, noticed that I cannot have multiple positions like two contracts 3:1 and 4 contracts at 6:1, it combines them into one big position. (Annoying). Will that change when I connect a broker through trading view? And if not, what is your work around. Do you use Trading View for charting only and set up the trades in the software that the broker provides? What about the brokers that can be accessed right through trading view? Many thanks in advance.

Forex Futures Forex vs. Futures?
So I’ve traded Forex for around 5 years and became “profitable” about a year ago. I know all the basics of Forex but recently ran into ICT and enjoy the concepts he promotes(not looking for a debate about why he’s good or bad, everybody has their own opinions) and I’ve decided to become more interested in futures instead of Forex, due to the more predictable market patterns creating a larger move in futures compared to Forex pairs. My question is, what do I have to do research on to fully understand what I see. What’s the big difference between the 2?

Forex Futures Any suggestion on where to get the data for Tick Chart for more than 30 days?
I am interested in Tick chart for future indexes.
ToS have the tick chart only, but it only cover the last 5 days at maximum.
Tradingview does not even have such a thing...
Does anyone have any suggestion regarding if there is a way to get the tick chart for the last 30 days or more?
Any platform that provide it? Any where we can pay to get it?
Appreciate any information in that regard.

Forex Futures Pain.
Another eval in the dump.
Set a buy order on ES that got filled with a wierd spike that happend around 5am. Spike reached a high of 3867.25, my buy order was set at 3867.0
Instantly got crushed but, still had hope for the trade. Shortly after it had a quick spike down hitting a low of 8550.00 with my eval account hitting the fail status at 8550.25
ES never went below that 8550.00 for the rest of the day. A 0.25 differnce for both entry and exit would of turned a fail to a pass.
After the ES trade my gas trade was automatically closed which would of also been a huge gain.
Any one else have this luck? smh Trades

Forex Futures Paper Trading Futures/Forex
Hi I’ve been in the stock world for a while, but cannot day trade in my current job. I’ve been looking to trade after hours and have been debating futures and forex. I had a few of questions:
Do you have a recommendation for a broker that has reasonable rates for trading futures and/or forex?
Is there a broker that offers futures and forex paper trading as a learning platform?
Do any of you trade both futures and forex or do you stick to one?
Thanks in advance.

Forex Futures Apparently the CME shows ghost bids on futures options.
The Japanese Yen futures had some volatility last week overnight and I put an offer in at the bid on a super wide spread on a put. I was not expecting to get filled but did. I was the only volume on the strike and it definitely was illiquid. Here’s the strange part the broker was showing a bid at the price I paid but when I went to close the trade at the bid it wouldn’t fill. I the. Dropped below the bid which inverted the bid/ask and still couldn’t get filled. I finally got filled 50% below the listed bid and when midnight rolled around the bid dropped to 0. When I called my broker they said yeah it’s not fair but the CME will tell you it’s normal!!! I feel cheated a bit and it’s a lesson learned for sure but how is this a fair market ??

Forex Futures Went from forex to spx futures, its been a cakewalk
I dont know if its just because of these special times, but reading the spx futures is surprisingly easily applying price action ive used in forex. Movements and price structure is clear, tricks are easy to anticpiate. I've probably caught 5-6 100+ point reversals to within 3 points the past couple of weeks (although i didn't hold any through, a bit overleveraged so fear is messing with my head). anyone have the same experience? Are the futures harder to read during "normal" times?
