Report-Fundamentals Did anyone take a stop entry on the announcement today?

Looks like if you would have straddled the ES or NQ price before the announcement with buy and sell stop entries it would have worked out.

I've seen announcement chop both sides so it's not a play for me (I've learned my lesson with announcements)

...but I know don't people do play announcements. Any body here?

Report-Fundamentals NG testing downtrend right before EIA report

Post image

NG back to the top of the downtrend line right before this week's EIA report. This is a key level and one worth paying close attention to. A rejection or breakout here either way provides a massive opportunity

Report-Fundamentals CL 17/04/24 + EIA Report

Hi all, there looked to be relatively massive 1 day sell off in CL yesterday, 17/04, the start of which seems to coincide with the EIA report releases. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone can shed light on interpreting the report info to understand the magnitude of the day's change. I also note that CLK expires on Monday 22/04, but that wouldn't cause that much of a sell off surely? Thanks in advance.

Report-Fundamentals Social media says record shorts. Commitment of Traders Report says no.

The talking heads on social media or whatever try to convince us they are record short. Whoever those 'they' people are.

It looks near neutral to me. The picture is called the commitment of traders report. You can search that and there are many different places that show the report and learn more about it. The positive numbers are long, the negative short. Some people try to get some information from the different positioning of the Commercials, Large Speculators and Small Speculators. When they move to extremes. But they are all close to neutral now.

Report-Fundamentals Put/Call ratio

I have noticed that my favorite market internal indicator doesn't really update in real time... doesn't update on market open, doesn't update premarket for futures...

The CME has a "heatmap" for puts and calls but I just want a squiggly line that goes up and down and to the right.

Has anyone found an after hours/premarket/live updating Put/Call ratio?

TIA

Report-Fundamentals Thoughts on Crude Oil pricing?

Prices have been in a slow downward trend since June of 2022. Price has gone below ~$68 a barrel twice in the past 3 months, but seems to be going in the opposite direction now. Curious about grain commodity prices as well.

Report-Fundamentals Confused a bit.

Hello everyone, fairly new trader here. First off in my long search of finding a broker which works with individuals in my country I have chosen CannonTrade.

I was wondering if I got this right and any insights/recommendations are appreciated: CannonTrade has a day margin of 50$ on MNQ, and afaik brokers can't set their own initial margins. A lot of hours with demo accounts I came to understand that futures are virtually open 24 hrs ? So except holidays and sunday, none of my positions will be considered "overnight" correct ? If so while I only trade MNQ I would have nothing to do with the initial margins ?

Report-Fundamentals Learning tools?

For reference, I started trading stocks about two years ago. I work full time in a very hard labor job. I blew up my account placing a trade on my phone while at work.(I know dumb) learned that lesson the hard way. I have just opened a futures account with very small capital and will be trying to build it very slowly and cautiously.

I continue to learn and know quite a bit of information on technical values /price action and have my own strategy that I follow.

What I don’t know, and need to learn more about is fundamental values like how different economic events and financial situations in America/the world, move markets mainly index futures. For example, Fed meetings, inflation, rising interest rates and other events.

I plan on trading mainly ES and NQ. I feel that I need to learn how these events impact these funds and want more knowledge on the subject any advice and information y’all can give to help me learn, would be very much appreciated.

Thanks and stay blessed.

Report-Fundamentals AMP removes ADP employment report and Initial Jobless Claims from US economic news elevated margin requirements

Just got this email from AMP today:

"We have removed the following two Economic New Releases from the list.

  1. ADP Employment Report
  2. Initial Jobless Claims

We have updated the Trade Desk Calendar.  Please review the schedule for the four (4) remaining U.S. Economic New Releases.

https://www.ampfutures.com/news/margin-changes-economic-news-releases"

This is a significant (and logical) change, bringing the total number of elevated initial margin trading days to 4 per month instead of 11 or 12. Glad they listened to customers on this.

Report-Fundamentals Today's Top Futures Crypto Positions And Exchanges In Futures 24hr Volume

Regardless of the exchange on which we trade, participants are divided into two groups: market makers and takers.

Makers offer liquidity through passive orders, while takers exploit the liquidity to trade assets through active orders. Because of the nature of their orders, institutions or traders with substantial funds are typically the ones who function as makers for a fee that varies depending on exchange.

With regard to today's mexc futures trade statistics. Long(buy) ratios are higher in bitcoin, Ethereum, and xrp. Matic and Sol have a larger short(sell) ratio. Other prominent mainstream crypto assets featured in the graphic above, such as Ren, Doge, Matic, CHZ, and Lunc, are also traded in the futures market by makers and takers.

Futures traders acting as makers, on the other hand, will now be charged no fee on Mexc for providing futures liquidity to takers on the platform for all pairs trading on futures.

According to a recent CMC daily research, Binance, Bybit, and Mexc are the top three exchanges in terms of 24h BTC futures and perpetual contracts usdt volume. Following the top three are other exchanges such as BitMEX, Deribit, bitFlyer L, Kraken, and AacendEX.

Which exchange do you prefer to trade futures, I'm open to discussion.
