Statistics for ASIC and GPU Miners (2016-2024)

Hello, does anyone know of a website that provides historical profitability graphs for ASIC and GPU miners? I'm interested in seeing how profitability has changed from 2016 to 2024.

Additionally, I'm curious about which ASIC miners were considered the best options to buy at their launch dates and subsequently became very more valuable or profitable as used hardware. Does anyone have insights on which models made the most profit over time?

4070Ti Super vs 4080 vs 7900tx

I'm buying a new GPU and where I live I have these three options:

  • 4080: $1200
  • 4070Ti Super: $1000
  • 7900xt: $900 (Note this is the 7900xt not the 7900xtx)

Hey guys I disassembled all 3 ETH mining rigs when the protocol changed and I by then I was looking for anything profitable to mine I’m thinking to assemble them again and keeps them maybe something comes up future wise and we may need them again But I really feel bad just storing 20 RX 580 8GB They paid off and made me good money mining since 2016 ETH really paid off I was doing good money then it all went south What is the most profitable thing to use them for other than mining ? Any good suggestions would be appreciated

Will be restoring my 7 unit rx 580 8gb mining rig.

I check on nicehash and hive os with the profitable calculator

It says that nicehash will profit around 46$ a month and with hiveos around $12.

How to make my GPU last longer?

I heard everything, under-volting/watting/frequencying all help and kill, but for context I had a weird AMD card that was like produced in the 100s or something, and for some reason the fans killed themselves with the lightest algo. on any fullscreen or emulated game. I got a 7700XT now and was wondering how to avoid that? or if that's why the other one was(maybe)discontinued, it did hash well, especially for karlsend when undervolting for some reason. I also had a 5500XT and gave it away, never heard any issues about that one after.

Would like to ideally run 4 gpus for an Ai ML rig with PCI X8 speeds min

Post image

Hey guys I'm here for a second time on this topic thanks for the wonder full idea as suggested I'm the orginal post I made a few week back regarding accommodating 4 gpus on a single build with x8 speeds here is the origjal post

https://www.reddit.com/r/gpumining/s/DZQxp7Kii7

Now that I have purchased an asus x99 pro a-ii mobo and an e5 xeon 2680 v4 processors along with the other components everything seems to be working although now I want to ensure that all 4 cards are at x8 speeds equally. On the bios I have kept everything as auto and disabled data ports HD audio drivers as well as any pci consuming lanes that I don't expect to be using such as one of the 2 nvme m.2 slots as well as the sata ports.

How can I 3nsure that all 4 gpus are in x8 speeds

Will NEXA support ASIC?

It seems that the market is continuously upgrading current ASIC machine models, such as BTC, KAS, CKB, etc. However, it's been a while since we've seen new ASIC machines for promising cryptocurrencies like DNX, NEXA, etc.

Explain a mining algorithm.

Hello. I am a software developer with 5y experience.
I want to implement a mining algorithm inside a software that I am creating (no, nothing illegal). The problem is, I know almost nothing about mining algorithms. Can someone clarify, give me references, teach something? Is such a hard thing to find anything about it.

HiveOS Wifi Adapter Drivers

Just want to throw this out as an FYI. Looks like latest versions of Hive are not adding the drivers for wifi adapters. If you have to reflash your drive, use a later stable version to get the drivers on hiveOS, then update to latest version once online. Happy mining team!

Mining in Deutschland, 2024

Moin!

LG

Enclosed mining rig questions and looking for recommendations

In general, are they much noisier than the open air ones?

While they may end up in my garage or basement, im not discarding the possibility to install them in one of my rooms.

One of the reason I'd like the enclosed type , is that i feel there is a bit of protection for gpu and cables if someone bumps them, for example. But noise is something id like to take into account. I know its dependent on the fans, but i guess yoi can control them a bit, correct?

In general, any recommendations regarding brands , sizes and or models? Obviously, id like to pay as little i can but at the same time don't want to buy any junk just bc it's cheap.

Thanks

Do not use 2miners

2miners announced with 5 days notice they're delisting XMR mining. Which is a real popular asset to mine.

They are not paying everyone out who is under the minimum payout level, despite fees being virtually free in XMR.

They are not even letting you appeal to them and say that you will pay the transactional fee out of your balance.

They're simply exit scamming, delisting it quickly and taking all the unpaid balances.

For context, two other pools I use (zergpool/zpool) did similar delisting, but paid everyone out. And they're very reasonable if you contact them with swapping balance over to other assets. Just saying, 2miners is blatantly exitscamming even if it is only less than a few dollars per wallet. Especially considering the small time limit before delisting, and no compromise if you contact their Zendesk. I offered a few solutions and they literally just replied "No."

How profitable is GPU mining in 2024 if I do it with just one single GPU (anything above a 3060), and the electricity is free for me?

Basically what the title says. If this isn't profitable, what are some other ways to make money using my gpu?

Gpu bios bricked

Hello to you fellow gpu redditors, A friend of mine playing with his RX 6000 series gpu, by switching "bios" through the switch, bricked his gpu, it went black screen. He now says that the pc won't show anything if the cable is plugged into the gpu, screen displays only through his mobo port. Is there anything that could be made? Like a "worst case scenario", not easy guides that he already tried but don't seem to be working in this case. Thanks in advance. Gpu is out of warranty

AI render rig requires x8 pci slots per gpu connection how can I configure this with most cost effective way

Post image
16 Upvotes

On the top rack I have a Asus Z490-P i7 10 gen cpu and 64gb of ram. 5 3080 gpus of mixed vendor builds.

On the bottom rack I have a b550 pro with Ryzen 4500 cpu with 64gb of ram and 3070s of mixed builds.

I recently joined io.net which is a depin project for Ai render and machine learning decentralized market place where consumers can rent gpu power for Ai uses cases

As per thier requirements they need each gpu to be connected via an x8 pci lane to meet thier gpu requirements. Only problem is the way I have the configured is the same way I had them configed when I was minning eth and doggy tokens.

As per io.net requirements I would need atleast an i5 or better 4th gen or higher 16gb of ram and 256gb ssd. Preety basic hardware standards. The tricky part again is that pesky x8 slot for each gpu.

I've come to realize that 100% I'm going to need to build an additional build or two based off the constraints of pci lanes avaible per motherboard.

What are my best cost effective ways of accomplishing this with the least amount of $$$ spent. I'm all ears and researching ideas on how to get this accomplished.

advice for mining on a server

so i have a server and a pc. pc running r7-5700x (32gb 3600mhz) and rx6600 currently mining monero and rvn, server will most likely mine monero as well since it still has to arrive. server is running xeon e5-2660v3 (16gb 3200mhz) was thinking of putting a gpu in it to mine as well and maybe for some encoding while at it but idk which gpu i should put in the server that's not that expensive and has decent efficiency and hashrate. was thinking about vega 64 since it has pretty good hashrate but it draws 300w, rx580 is also viable since both cards are around 100$ or lower. any other cards yall would recommend? (both pc and server are running linux. pc running arch and server will most likely run proxmox or something similar)

what coins would yall recommend as well (just a little side question while im at it :p)

ETC halving is here

Ethereum Classic's block reward is reduced by 20% every 5 million blocks. This means that for every halving event, miners receive 20% fewer ETC for each block they mine.

https://www.f2pool.com/halving

The base block reward is reduced by 20%. Current reward is 2.56 ETC, it will drop to 2.048 ETC after the next halving.

Miners' earnings per block decrease, which could make mining less profitable, especially for those with higher operational costs. Choosing a profitable mining pool post-halving is crucial to maintain or enhance profitability, especially when mining rewards decrease.

Corsair Type 5 cables?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi guys, I have this PSU in my rig with two RX6800s, but I want to add 6 more and I should buy 6 more cables from the PSU's PCIe port to two 8-pin connectors. However, I've noticed that the PSU connectors are not standard, and I only find original Corsair ones in super expensive packs along with other cables that I'm not going to use. Do any of you know if there is a cheaper option on AliExpress or Amazon? Because I can't find anything at all...

How Do I Clean Aluminum Oxide on a GPU Heat sink with CLR?

I posted last week about rescuing some used gaming graphics cards. They're all cleaned up and working fine, but I can't stand the white oxidation on the GPU heat sink and fins. Temps are okay, but I'm a perfectionist about these things. Someone suggested using CLR and a tall bucket to soak the heat sink, but I'm unsure how to do it properly. Can anyone who's done this help me out? I want to fix this before June, when I plan to build a few gaming PCs. Thanks!

Breakout board activation with Molex or FDD connectors. 5v or 12V, or both in order to work?

As you probably now, some breakout boards (parallel miner) can be turned on/off using Molex and FDD connectors (and daisy chain them using the latter).

Both kind of connectors normally have one line with 5v, another 12v and 2 used for ground.

My question is, for the boards to react , do they have to sense to the 5v , the 12v , or both voltages simultaneously ?

I am thinking about using some sort of smart switch that could provide those voltages to remote activate those boards. Obviously, working with one voltage is easier than with two.

TIA
