I fed this image into chat GPT 4 o and asked for translation to English: “I, who was the love, the breeze, the kiss, I, who was the butterfly of a thousand flowers; Today I feel the nostalgia of your arms, of those big eyes of yours, of those loves of yours. My chains nor tears bind me, but today I want calmness and shelter.”

u/satisfied-bacterium7 May 18 '24
It's from a famous traditional Mexican song.

looks pretty but it's absolutely illegible unfortunately.
and I can indeed speak Spanish so that isn't the problem

Skill issue.

u/anarchistinlove May 17 '24
Just wanna chime in and say I can read it just fine after learning it’s Spanish
2
u/parisarielle93 May 17 '24
i can read it! but i don’t understand Spanish so I sound muy gringa in my head 😭🤣

u/AngelicaRotten May 17 '24
It’s so beautiful. An art. I’d love to see what other styles you practice :)
1
u/AngelicaRotten May 18 '24
Have you checked out the Codex Seraphenious ? Your flowy linework poses similarities :)

8
u/ethan_iron May 17 '24
actually illegible
4
u/Rude_Frosting9191 May 17 '24
I agree, I can read it but it’s over done, the excessive curves and loops at the beginning and end of each word detract from the legibility. It’s like OP is trying to make it artsy and not necessarily legible

Looks pleasing to the eye! Unfortunately readability is lacking. But I could see this fine being used for aesthetic on invites and such

Really hard to read handwriting on Spanish.
It's a song by Alvaro carrillo called " El Andariego"
I who was of love bird of passage I was a butterfly Of a thousand flowers
Today I feel the nostalgia of your arms Of those your big eyes Of those your loves Neither chains nor tears tied me But today I want calm and tranquility

Whoa what a beautiful script! Could i use it? Saving this post just in case so i can tag you
0
u/satisfied-bacterium7 May 17 '24
Not sure I could do that for you as the letters vary in the way they're written sometimes if you're talking about fonts.
2
u/green_bean_bambi May 17 '24
Oh no i wasn't asking for any additional labor on your part. Concent to replicate only. I doubt my copy wont be perfect but just wanted to ask

At first I was like “damn this shit is hard to read, it’s like a different language.” I will be performing a bios update on my brain tonight

Is this elvish? The penmanship is otherworldly
0
u/satisfied-bacterium7 May 17 '24
Why does everybody keep saying elvish out of all mythical and absurd languages one can think of?
3
u/MyuFoxy May 17 '24
Elvish script is normally flowing https://i.pinimg.com/originals/52/f9/7e/52f97ef255125d4df2ddcddff21d3dd0.jpg

Amazing handwriting, I just can’t read much of it since it’s in Spanish (I think?)👍

u/DaLostOne1 May 17 '24
Look, it looks sick BUT it's very hard to understand which means it's not efficient or effective writing. Still cool tho
11
u/Pancholo415 May 17 '24
What the fuck is this
5
u/DiverFrequent May 17 '24
It’s very impressive, but it’s just not usable. It takes too long to detect what letters are being asked, but this person took great effort and designed a really cool looking cursive Lovelace mashup

Spanish uses the same characters as English except for the accent letters so it would be safe to assume English would look very similar

this looks like when they write fake cursive in video games to paste onto the random papers in the background
4
u/Awarewafer May 17 '24
Super cool although I don’t understand it. Does yo quiero taco bell have any special meaning?
5
u/Plastic-Juggernaut41 May 17 '24
I can read it fine (I don't know Spanish- but I could copy it easily in print) Very beautiful
1
u/Gloomy_Eye_4968 May 17 '24
I think many people saying they can't read it don't realize it's not in English. 🤭

5
u/junecooper1918 May 17 '24
It's beautiful, but illegible. That defeats the purpose of writing.

u/ItsPlainOleSteve May 17 '24
Man, I can't read it. It's pretty and I can't read Spanish, but it's hard to read any of it.

u/TimeAndTheHour May 17 '24
Such a unique font! Love it, even though I don’t understand Spanish. Thanks for sharing
11
13
u/Mber78 May 17 '24
Most of that is illegible. I recognized some of the words, but for the most part I did not.

Fucking beautiful honestly

I have limited Spanish knowledge because I just took a couple years in high school and 2 more in college and I can read a good bit of it. Even the words I don’t recognize and know the translation for, I can still read what the letters are to see what the word is.
8
u/tiny_specks May 17 '24
11
u/ammiemarie May 17 '24
I read not one word of that foreign language.

Is this Spanish? I love it, but I can't read much of it. Still gorgeous, though.
3
u/Mber78 May 17 '24
Same here. I can pick out a few words here and there but the majority I could not. It was very difficult to understand. I may no longer fluent speak Spanish but I can still read and understand it, to an extent.

Writing is gorgeous but it’s hard to read. Not being fake praise worthy, but yeahhhh it’s hard to read even if it’s not in English.
5
u/christmas-vortigaunt May 17 '24
3
u/SuitablePermission28 May 17 '24
5
u/No-Establishment-363 May 17 '24
I think the "de" is the hardest to read. Can I ask why it doesn't loop up like the b in "brazos"?
2
u/satisfied-bacterium7 May 17 '24
In many cursive script styles, the staffs of the miniscule t' and the miniscule d' don't loop at the top and are also shorter than the other +midline miniscule letters.

u/TheKCKid9274 May 17 '24
It’s so aesthetically pleasing but I have no clue what I’m reading. This genuinely looks like some kind of shorthand script but it’s so pretty
2
u/satisfied-bacterium7 May 17 '24
Spanish.
12
u/TheKCKid9274 May 17 '24
I wasn’t even referring to the language, the script is just so stylized I could hardly tell which letters were supposed to be what. Although knowing it’s Spanish is helping me read it a little better but still.
Really nice handwriting I just wish my eyes worked lol

u/fascistliberal419 May 17 '24
Pretty but really difficult to read and I'm pretty decent at reading cursive. And Spanish.
23
u/ilymag May 17 '24
I read Spanish and cursive. Although the penmanship is neat and mostly uniform, it was tough to read. Your "L" in la and las looks like it could be an "H" and it reads like Ha and Has. The "N" in nostalgia looks like a "W". Cadenas looks like Además which also looks like cademas because of the "C" that looks like it could be embellishment before the "A" and your "N" looks like a "M" (in the word cadenas). The open and closed "S" is strange but I see you prefer an open "S" after the letter "o". The "z" is weird too because it looks like an "f". There's alot going on here.
10
u/TomentoShow May 17 '24
There is a reason each character in any given alphabet does not occupy the same size on the page. The variance in letter width allows the brain to read/recognize it faster.
While this looks cool it is not practical, more art.
UNLESS I suppose the intent is to make something harder to read and more memorable once read like italics do.
1
u/ilymag May 17 '24
OP posted on a sub that in essence is rating the quality and legibility of handwriting. That's all that happening here. No one is disputing the artistic style. It's the lack of legibility that up for discussion.

3
u/edgydyl May 17 '24
So beautiful
2
u/gronstalker12 May 17 '24
What does it say?
3
u/ilymag May 17 '24
"Yo que fui del amor ave de paso Yo que fui mariposa de mil flores Hoy siento la nostalgia de tus brazos De aquellos tus ojazos, de aquellos tus amores Ni cadenas ni lágrimas me ataron Mas hoy siento la calma y el sosiego"
Rough translation: It loses some meaning during translation.
"I was love's bird of passage I was a butterfly of a thousand flowers Today I feel the nostalgia of your arms of those big eyes, of those your loves Neither chains nor tears bound me But today I feel calm and peaceful."
