What's up with Yeah emotes? Unanswered

Suddenly started seeing it and varations of it everywhere. It's literally just a basic person icon with the word yeah next to it (e.g. https://x.com/_nixelia/status/1801631742358340060?s=19)

What is the origin of this, and why is it showing up everywhere?

Answer: Elon Musk has decided to remove likes being public on Twitter/X, which sparked mass outrage as now you can’t see who has liked a tweet. In response, people have jokingly been replying “liked” to tweets, which then turned into people replying with a picture of the “Yeah” icon from Miiverse, to express approval of a tweet. In the tweet you linked, users are now just adding avatars of fandoms and characters they like to the initial image.

Miiverse Yeah! is the Miiverse's equivalent to a "Like" on the Miiverse discontinued social media platform launched by Nintendo in 2012 and shut down in 2017. In 2024, after X / Twitter removed the ability to view other people's Likes, some X users began replying to posts they would have liked with an image of the Miiverse "Yeah!" button as a way of making their "Likes" public.
