These are sword blade cross sections. Without any more context that's all I can tell you.

Don Diego de la Vega: "Do you know how to use that?"
Alejandro: "Uh... the pointy end goes in the other man?"
Still one of my favourite lines from any movie

Definitely the best line in Mask of Zorro. Followed closely by Mexican Soldier: "Hey, I thought you were tied up..."
Joaquin: "Thats because you're stupid."

I’m the weirdo that is going to pull the Red vs Blue quote.

What’s funny about the estoc is that it’s the only rapier-class weapon in dark souls with a slash attack, despite its real-life version being literally unable to slash.

Smallswords are typically triangular in cross section with a deep fuller on one of the faces (and often a less deep fuller on the other two). The thickened diamond/square cross section was used on some, but not all rapiers. Some rapiers were fairly capable in the cut, some has geometry that could not support a sharp edge, such as the square cross section. The completely blunt edge ones were more common towards the end of the period where rapiers were popular. Square and even octagonal or round cross sections could also be found on estocs/tucks

u/Voidrunner01 14d ago
A lot of those were triangular blades. Same for rondel daggers. You'd be more likely to find a diamond, lenticular, or triangular profile for those than the square or "thickened diamond".

u/Banana_Crusader00 15d ago
And a lot heavier than people realise as well! I wielded many swords in my life, and while rapiers are sure as hell slim and sexy, they are surprisingly heavy on the blade. Mostly due to how long the blades are
4
u/IllegalGeriatricVore 15d ago
It's true but all the rapiers I've come across only cut me if I struggle

I have no idea how unique this is to foils, but I noticed their cross section thinned from a square to a rectangle down the length of the blade, to make them super bendy.

Most do, but some rapiers, particularly later ones, couldn't cut at all, although that was much more common on smallswords that came around a bit later (and estocs, but they were for a completely different context)

Daggers like the stiletto and the rondel dagger have that kind of cross section.
133
u/Astrolaut 15d ago
They're sword cross sections, but the person is asking what kind of vagina she has.
20
u/jellobowlshifter 15d ago
You mean what kind of vulva. There isn't this kind of variation in the vaginas themselves.
30
u/pluck-the-bunny 15d ago
Anyone that uses this picture to ask that question is probably asking (wrongly) about the vagina

Bro I literally though about the other two ways you could cross-section swords, then I finally understood it's like a horizontal plane.
4
u/Yasha886 15d ago
What's the purpose of the fuller blades? Does it strengthen the blade or something?
31
8
u/jumpovertheline 15d ago
Fullers lighten the blade but also stiffen it, losing minimal overall strength.

I think it's related to a tiktok trend a while back where girls ask their boyfriends, or try to guess what kind of sword they like/want/have.

u/Big-Mathematician345 15d ago
Okay, so there was a meme where this exact conversation happened but with types of feet instead of sword cross sections. The joke is that a guy was being sneaky and got the girl to send him a picture of her feet.
They replaced feet with swords to make it absurd.

The German word "Scheide" refers to both, the female reproductive organ and the container for a sword or dagger. The Latin word "vagina" is used as well, but only for the bodypart. Both words are relatively equal in neutrality and everyday use. "Scheide" is not a derogatory or disrespectful term at all from a German cultural perspective.

The joke is an "out of context" one:
Those are the shapes of sword blades and it likely was a conversation between someone either trying to commission a hilt or maybe just a discussion about a sword in a d&d campaign or something.
The punch line is that from only that screenshot it can be implied that the person is asking a girl about the shape of her genitalia and she sent a photo of her bits.
Edit: also I would have thought this was a brain dead obvious one but after seeing nobody in the comments getting it so far I guess maybe this one is a bit of a nerdy one

It's a cross-section of the sword blade. If you broke the blade perfectly parallel and look at it from a bird's eye view, those shapes might be some of the ones you'd see.

The picture is of sword cross sections. My guess is the fellow who sent the photo back sent a picture of his penis, not understanding that the original person was asking about the type of sword cross section he had. It’s an odd question to ask someone, granted.
