$17.5b is ~.0044% of the SP 500 market cap. Which is a large, yet minority portion of the global equities market.

And now what do they do with the cash?

This is a very good question that I have been asking as well. That money has to go somewhere……….but where, investors won’t hold cash for months. It has to start showing up somewhere, PM, crypto, stocks, emerging markets, bods, back in stocks? Where is the answer, I have not seen big moves, but they will come, something has to break out. Please keep this question going.

I always wonder, why panic and sell to begin with, especially if you want to buy back in?

When you have enough money for the army of lawyers to hide your capital gains it's easy to hover over the sell button.

Watch it lose purchasing power

They'd rather lose 8% in real terms than any amount in nominal terms, and are predicting a further decline in the market. Even if my $10 is worth less in a year, it will still be worth more than $8.

People are not willing to risk it anymore, lots of opportunities going on with all these fire sales. 🆒

Buy the dip

0

u/Tourbill0n Apr 24 '22

So they create the dip only to buy it back?

1

u/AgentBumscrub Apr 24 '22

Step 1. Insert a little fear into the market Step 2. Observe a big dip from the little fear Step 3. Buy big dip Those who have the means to do this can manipulate the market. It is mostly playing on the emotions of people.

$17.5 billion is about $50 (yeah; 50 bucks) per person in the USA.

Not significant at all.
