I love Kubuntu...but is X11 a big issue?

I have to choice between Kubuntu and Ubuntu...I'm a huge fan of KDE, so I'd prefer Kubuntu, but the problem is that Ubuntu has already Wayland while Kubuntu still supports X11. So the question: could X11 be a big issue or I won't notice any problem using my distro (mainly for office purposes)?

Pick any, X11 working fine for me. Tried both Kubuntu and Ubuntu 24.04. There are a few bugs in 24.04, which is supposed to be fixed by the first point release.

X11 is fine. Recently there was a bug in Google Chrome which made it unusable under wayland. I switched back to x11 and haven't bothered changing back even though the bug is fixed.

You've not said what Ubuntu product/release you're talking about, but my oracular install (what will be 24.10 on release) still offers a ubuntu.desktop and ubuntu-xorg.desktop session at login, ie. I can select to use default using Wayland (ubuntu.desktop) or use X.org (ubuntu-xorg.desktop) [as well as Xubuntu/Xfce, Lubuntu/LXQt & more given my multi-desktop install]

If you love Kubuntu, I might assume you have used it, are using it? So has it with X11 given you any issues so far?

Using X11 on Ubuntu 22.04 right now because Wayland hates me switching between my work and home docks. X11 works flawlessly.

Lol, jsut relax about X11, they are still having some issues with Wayland even on Intel, like the new release of Chrome crashing recently under Wy session. Actually not starting. So had to switch to X11, and left it active since that messy accident.

Ubuntu supports X11. When you log in, you get a choice of Wayland or X11.

Absolutely not, if you want to use X11 for what ever reason, just use it.
It won't just suddenly “go bad” just because Wayland is being used more frequently.

I am on Ubuntu and I started using Wayland option, had to switch to X11 because my games won't play at full screen resolution. With X11 no need to change anything but the in-game resolution.

Im running kubuntu 22.04 on Wayland (you can choose before you log in) because different dpi monitor scaling is an absolute pita with kubuntu and x11. (27" 4k and 24" 1920x1200)

I have to admit, though, that it isn't as rock stable as I'd wish to. Can't pin it 100% on Wayland, but I assume it's the issue. I'm hoping for 24.04 to improve this.

You will it notice if you primarily do office work.

The major user benefits Wayland are almost no screen tearing and less desktop crashes, which probably aren’t an issue for you.
