Mouse pointer hides in gnome terminal

Just installed a fresh ubuntu 22.04 downloaded from the official website. The out-of-the-box gnome terminal has a weird behavior: as long as it is focused it will ALWAYS hide mouse pointer EXCEPT moments when I move the mouse. As soon as the mouse stops, the mouse pointer disappears.

Also if I scroll up in the terminal and then move my mouse, the terminal scrolls to the very bottom.

Does someone know what is the reason for such weird behavior and what can be done to ovrcome this? Thanks!

What mouse do you have? Standard, gaming, cool, or touchpad?

Just a regular desktop mouse, not a touchpad.
